The e-hailing driver was charged with killing the boy between 9.02 am and 12.55 pm on July 23, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, which carries the death penalty or a maximum of 40 years imprisonment and 12 strokes of the cane, if convicted.
Deputy Public Prosecutor Rasyidah Murni Adzmi requested a date for the prosecution to obtain the post-mortem, chemical, forensic, and deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) reports.
The court set Sept 10 for case mention at the Seremban High Court.
Media reports cited that the accused lodged a police report on July 24 claiming his son had gone missing in the Taman Bukit Indah area in Iskandar Puteri, Johor.
The man claimed that his son went missing at around 4 pm on July 23, after he was left alone in the car while the suspect was getting food.
The boy's remains were found buried in an area in Rompin, Jempol, at 4.30 pm on July 28.

PORT DICKSON: An investigation paper related to an incident where the Jalur Gemilang was hung upside down at a school here has been submitted to the state prosecution department. Deputy district OCPD DSP Mohd Ruslan Mat Kib said the police have been told to have another session to record the statement of one of the witnesses. "Apart from that, we have also been instructed to record the statement of another individual," he said in a statement Monday (Aug 11). Choo said the school had immediately brought down the flag upon realising the mistake.

Probe of Pamela Ling's abduction still ongoing, Saifuddin tells Dewan Rakyat
KUALA LUMPUR: Police are still investigating the disappearance of Datin Seri Pamela Ling Yueh under Section 365 of the Penal Code for kidnapping with intent to wrongfully confine, the Dewan Rakyat was told. Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the investigation paper is being processed and several documents are being finalised by the investigating officer before being submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further instructions. "The Home Ministry would like to clarify that the police remain committed to investigating any reported cases of abduction or disappearance following standard operating procedures and existing legal provisions," he told Ram Karpal Singh (PH-Bukit Gelugor), who asked the ministry to reveal the status of the investigation. Ram Karpal also wanted to know whether or not the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is being investigated in connection with the case, considering that Ling was reportedly abducted on her way to the commission's office on April 9. Saifuddin said the police would cooperate with other enforcement agencies, including the MACC, in conducting investigations when required. On the day of her disappearance, Ling was on her way to the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya to assist an investigation under the MACC Act 2009 and the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001. However, she reportedly went missing on the way to the appointment. Her lawyer lodged a police report the same day. CCTV footage showed her being abducted by several men. So far, no ransom demand has been received.

Immigration officer charged with robbing Pakistani national in Rembau
KUALA PILAH: A 38-year-old immigration officer pleaded not guilty in the Magistrate's Court here today to a charge of robbing a Pakistani national in Rembau on July 11. Mohd Nazrul Md Yassin entered the plea after the charge was read before Magistrate Yusna Khadijah Md Yusop. He is accused of robbing the victim of a mobile phone, passport, RM440 in cash, and a TnG eWallet balance of RM210 at 6.10 pm in Kampung Miku Pindah. He was charged under Section 392 of the Penal Code, which carries a maximum jail term of 14 years, and may also involve a fine or caning upon conviction. The court denied bail and set Aug 14 for mention at the Kuala Pilah Sessions Court.
