E-hailing driver charged with murdering son
JELEBU: An e-hailing driver was charged at the Magistrate's Court here with the murder of his six-year-old son. No plea was recorded from M. Arunkumar (pic), 36, after the charge was read to him before magistrate Norshazwani Ishak, as murder cases fall under the jurisdiction of the High Court. He was charged with murdering his son, Tishant, between 9.02am and 12.55pm on July 23 along KM25 Jalan Rompin in Bahau near here. Under Section 302 of the Penal Code, the accused can be sentenced to death or jailed between 30 and 40 years and whipped, upon being found guilty. The court fixed Sept 10 for mention at the Seremban High Court. It was earlier reported that the suspect had lodged a report on his son's disappearance in Johor Baru on July 24, claiming that the boy had gone missing near a coffee shop in Taman Bukit Indah. Arunkumar was subsequently arrested to assist in the investigation. Four days later, police reportedly found the boy's remains buried in a secluded spot near a railway line along Jalan Rompin. On Sunday, Johor police said that the accused will also be charged later on with multiple offences, including domestic violence and assault. The suspect's wife had lodged a report on July 22 claiming she was physically abused by the suspect, who also took their only child away.
