Samsung just sent 40 million Galaxy users an urgent security message
Samsung is going all-in on security awareness across the UK, launching a nationwide campaign to encourage Galaxy smartphone owners to activate the new anti-theft features introduced with the One UI 7 update. The campaign supports the UK Home Office's efforts to curb rising phone theft, with Samsung highlighting a multi-layered suite of tools to protect users and their data in high-risk situations.

The company is also backing the push with a major awareness campaign spanning London's Piccadilly Lights, train, and tube (metro) stations, social platforms, and online video ads. The message is simple: if you own a Galaxy phone, and you've updated to One UI 7 , now's the time to activate Theft Protection.Annika Bizon, VP of Mobile Experience at Samsung UK, said:
Theft Protection is in the security and privacy settings." Theft Protection is Samsung's set of anti-theft features, building on standard Android protections like Google's Find My Device. It got introduced with the Galaxy S25 series earlier this year and is now rolling out to many older Galaxy models. The features it includes are built into the Knox Security Platform and available through One UI 7 .Here's a breakdown of what's included: Identity Check : Requires biometric authentication in unfamiliar locations to make sensitive security changes.

Theft Detection Lock : Uses machine learning to detect snatching motions and instantly locks the screen.

These protections are now live on the Galaxy S22, S23, S24, and S25 series, the Galaxy Z Flip 5/6, the Galaxy Z Fold 5/6, and other devices receiving the One UI 7 .0 update throughout 2025. Samsung has published a detailed setup guide for users who want to activate these features and protect their Galaxy devices. It also walks you through how to lock or erase your phone remotely, track it using a Galaxy Watch or Find My Device, and change your account credentials after a loss. The company even recommends creating a PIN and recovery message through the Samsung Find website in case of emergency.

Most other phone manufacturers have also introduced theft protection functionality. Google, for example, has something called Theft Detection Lock , which utilizes AI and motion sensors to detect sudden movements indicative of theft (like snatching) and automatically locks the screen.
Other features on Pixel Phones include Offline Device Lock, which automatically locks the device if it's disconnected from the internet for too long.
Apple, on the other hand, has its Stolen Device Protection feature that requires biometric authentication for critical actions (accessing passwords, disabling Lost Mode, or erasing the device) when the iPhone is in unfamiliar locations.
Motorola also has its set of security features, with some newer ones being Security Scan and Phishing Detection . The former uses artificial intelligence to proactively scan the device for malware and potential vulnerabilities, while the latter identifies and warns users about suspicious links or websites, helping prevent phishing attacks.

Xiaomi's next compact flagship is better than the Galaxy S25 in almost every way
Xiaomi is gearing up for the launch of several flagship products, including a compact smartphone and a foldable. The unannounced Xiaomi 16 made headlines in the past, but it looks like some of the information leaked by various sources was inaccurate. The upcoming Xiaomi 16 is a compact flagship that directly competes with Samsung Galaxy S25 and OnePlus 13s. However, if we are to believe the latest rumors surrounding Xiaomi flagship, the not-yet-released device will be better than the other two in many aspects. The most recent Xiaomi 16 comes from reputable leaker Digital Chat Station who claims that the flagship will feature an even bigger battery than what some of the previous reports suggested. For those unaware, Xiaomi 16 was initially rumored to pack a 6,800 mAh battery, which is already much bigger than Samsung Galaxy S25's (and OnePlus 13s). However, Digital Chat Station now says that Xiaomi managed to include an even larger 7,000 mAh battery inside its upcoming flagship. In comparison, Samsung Galaxy S25 has a 4,000 mAh battery, while the OnePlus 13s drains energy from a bigger 6,260 mAh battery. Based on this information, we have a clear winner here and that's Xiaomi 16. Xiaomi 15 remains a very good flagship one year after launch | Image credit: PhoneArena Another important aspect where Xiaomi 16 seems to be ahead is performance. Rumor has it that Xiaomi's flagship will be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite 2, a chipset that the US-based company is expected to unveil sometime in September. In comparison, both Samsung Galaxy S25 and OnePlus 13s are using Qualcomm's most recent flagship chipset, the Snapdragon 8 Elite, although the Galaxy S25 has the overclocked 'Leading Version.' As far as the camera goes, Xiami 16 is rumored to feature a triple 50-megapixel camera, which includes a 1/1.3-inch main sensor and a periscope telephoto lens. The Galaxy S25 has a similar triple camera setup, but uses smaller sensors, whereas the OnePlus 13s comes with a dual-camera. Xiaomi 16 is a better flagship than the Galaxy S25 in almost every way. It might seem strange to say this, but that's pretty normal in this day and age. Technology is moving so fast that launching a flagship in the second half of the year gives you a clear advantage over the other devices that came on the market just six months ago.

Samsung's upcoming flagship tablet is getting tough competition months before launch
Honor MagicPad 2 is both sleek and stylish | Image credit: Honor Samsung's Galaxy Tab S11 flagship tablets are still a few months away, which leaves plenty of room for the competition to take a little bit of the tablet market share that the South Korean dominates along with Apple. One of the brands that are trying to gain a little bit of market share before Samsung introduces its new flagships is Honor. The Chinese company is almost ready to launch its top-tier slate, the MagicPad 3. The MagicPad 3 is supposed to be introduced sometime in June, which is why Chinese tipsters have already started to leak information about the upcoming flagship tablet. Famous leaker Digital Chat Station has just posted on Weibo MagicPad 3's key specs, and judging from what they're claiming, it appears that the MagicPad 3 might not bring so many upgrades as it should if Honor wants to convince customers their products are better than the competition's. The first disappointment is that the MagicPad 3 apparently comes with a slightly downgraded display. The previous model, MagicPad 2, has a 12.3-inch OLED display with 1920 x 3000 pixels resolution and 144Hz refresh rate. In comparison, the MagicPad 3 is rumored to feature a 13.2-inch LCD display, probably with a similar 144Hz refresh rate. The main issue is that the quality of panel (OLED vs. LCD) is definitely in favor of the MagicPad 2. On the bright side, the MagicPad 3 seems to have a slightly higher display, so that's a plus for those who are looking for very big tablets. Besides that, the reliable tipster says the MagicPad 3 will be equipped with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor, which isn't too bad even though this chipset was launched two years ago. The fact that the Galaxy Tab S11 is said to pack MediaTek's Dimensity 9400, a chipset released last year, even the odds a bit. The MagicPad 2 is Honor's most powerful tablet to date | Image credit: Honor In any case, the powerful chipset is paired with 16GB RAM and up to 1TB internal memory. As you can imagine, Honor will offer customers the option to choose from different storage sizes, depending on their needs and DGS claims the MagicPad 3's battery will support 66W wired charging, but didn't say anything about its size. For reference, the MagicPad 2 has a 10,050 mAh battery with 66W wired charging support, so there doesn't seem to be any changes when it comes to charging MagicPad 3 will be introduced at some point in June and should be available in three different colors – Moon Shadow White, Floating Gold and Starry Sky Gray, at least that's what the tip says.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 unveiling location outed
Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 in early July at its next Unpacked event, according to a previous rumor, and today we have yet another rumor talking about the location that the company has chosen. According to this report from its home of Korea, the next Unpacked event will take place in New York City. We still don't have an exact date rumored, only "early July". Samsung last unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Flip4 in New York in 2022, but that was a virtual event. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra teaser The last time it chose New York for a physical launch event (as the one next month should be) was in 2019 when it made the Galaxy Note10 official. So it's been a while, but it's now looking like Samsung is returning to the most iconic city in the US. Earlier today, the company teased the Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra, which may launch alongside the 'vanilla' Fold7 - or maybe these two are one and the same device, that's also a possibility. The Ultra could be an even higher-end book-style foldable compared to the Fold7, or it may be the name Samsung will choose to use for its oft-rumored tri-fold device. Undoubtedly, more rumors and leaks will surface between now and early next month to let us know more. Either way, it's looking like the next Unpacked event could be packing a lot of devices, considering the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is also likely to make its debut on that occasion. Source (in Korean)
