Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 and Z Flip7 unveiling location outed
According to this report from its home of Korea, the next Unpacked event will take place in New York City. We still don't have an exact date rumored, only "early July". Samsung last unveiled the Galaxy Z Fold4 and Flip4 in New York in 2022, but that was a virtual event. Samsung Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra teaser
The last time it chose New York for a physical launch event (as the one next month should be) was in 2019 when it made the Galaxy Note10 official. So it's been a while, but it's now looking like Samsung is returning to the most iconic city in the US.
Earlier today, the company teased the Galaxy Z Fold7 Ultra, which may launch alongside the 'vanilla' Fold7 - or maybe these two are one and the same device, that's also a possibility. The Ultra could be an even higher-end book-style foldable compared to the Fold7, or it may be the name Samsung will choose to use for its oft-rumored tri-fold device.
Undoubtedly, more rumors and leaks will surface between now and early next month to let us know more. Either way, it's looking like the next Unpacked event could be packing a lot of devices, considering the Galaxy Z Flip7 FE is also likely to make its debut on that occasion.

Samsung confident ahead of rumored Apple foldable iPhone launch
The foldable market has been growing rather slowly recently, but still, people are starting to get excited about foldable phones, given the early success of the Galaxy Z Fold 7. Choi believes that healthy competition brings innovation and benefits to customers. Despite being quite open to the competition, Choi did highlight Samsung's role in the foldable segment. The executive underlined that Samsung is the company that started the segment back in 2019, referring to the original Galaxy Fold that was launched, now more than six years ago. On the question about Apple joining the market with a foldable iPhone next year, Choi also responded with confidence. He stated that Samsung has accumulated a lot of technology know-how and expertise by making foldables all this time. He again highlighted the benefits for the consumer and the industry by having more competition in the segment. Apparently, the South Korea-based tech giant is confident that it can take on Apple when it launches its rumored folding iPhone. Indeed, Samsung does have the experience now of seven generations of foldable phones . And it believes that this experience will help it keep an edge over Apple. So either way, Samsung will make money nonetheless. At the moment, Samsung's main competitors in the foldable market are Chinese phone makers like Oppo, Honor, and Huawei. Most of these phones, however, are not available in all the markets, while the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Galaxy Z Flip 7 are. As for Apple's foldable iPhone , rumors say to expect it towards the end of next year. It is said to be a book-style foldable like the Galaxy Z Fold 7 , and Apple is rumored to have completely eliminated the crease on the display. I have not gotten onto the foldable train just yet. And not because I don't think it's cool – I think a foldable phone is the best of both worlds (portability and huge screens). But I'm looking for a company to get rid of the display crease until I go and buy people say you get used to the crease (the dent where the display folds, in the middle, basically) over time, but I'm rather peculiar about it, and I can't stand the feeling (and there's no getting used to it, I tried). So, if rumors are true and Apple does manage to get rid of the crease completely, this would mean that Samsung may also achieve it (after all, it will most likely be making those panels). And that is something that consumers will definitely benefit from, as I doubt I'm the only one who doesn't want a long dent on a smooth touch-screen phone. Apple's foldable iPhone is expected to rock a 7.8-inch internal display and a 5.5-inch external screen. Meanwhile, Samsung's latest iteration of the Fold series, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 , rocks a massive 6.5-inch external display and an 8-inch foldable screen, so if these rumors are true, Samsung's phone is bigger than Apple's. Meta is making smartwatches for a different demographic of users
Meta is about to enter ( subscription required ) the smartwatch industry, expanding its successful wearables business. The company plans to target a different demographic of users with unique watches, as other tech companies have already garnered significant market share in this sector. Meta's smartwatches will likely be equipped with cameras, as the company wants to increase user interaction with the metaverse. Furthermore, these watches will be able to complement the upcoming smart AR glasses by Meta, the first model of which may come out as soon as this year's end. This wouldn't be the first time that a smartwatch would feature a camera. Perhaps the most popular example I can provide of a similar product is the first ever Samsung Galaxy Gear watch. If Meta's approach catches on, then Samsung — and rivals like Apple — may also consider revisiting smartwatches with first Galaxy Gear's camera wasn't great, but technology has come a long way since 2013. It's why Meta is even considering this whole idea in the first place. Galaxy Z Fold7 passes gruesome durability test
The Galaxy Z Fold7 made its way to JerryRigEverything's torture chamber and it was subjected to the usual set of scratch, bend and burn tests. While foldables don't have the best track record in this discipline, the Z Fold7 surprisingly outdid expectations. If you don't feel like watching the whole video, here's the recap: the Z Fold7 may be Samsung's thinnest and lightest Fold to date, it's exceptionally well built and passed all of the tests it was subjected to. The Corning Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 protected cover screen scratches at the usual level 6 on Mohs scale of mineral hardness. As expected, the internal screen is still easily susceptible to damage and scratches at a mere level 2 since it is made from Ultra-Thin Glass (UTG). The aluminum sides of the phone and its Armor FlexHinge can take a beating, and the IP48 rating proves to be effective against dust and other small rock fragments. Galaxy Z Fold7 bend test The highlight of the video is the bend test (8:00 mark), which yields a concerning amount of flex from the phone, but it remains fully functional despite it all.
