ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X prices leak — prepare for a premium cost
An official Spanish Asus Store (spotted by Notebookcheck) seemingly reveals the prices for the ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X, shown by typing "Xbox Ally" in the search bar of the site. It shows the base Xbox Ally will be priced at €599, while the Xbox Ally X will come in at €899.
This puts the standard model at around $699/£519 and the premium Ally X version at $1,050/£779. Of course, pricing in different regions is sure to be adjusted, especially in the U.S. with tariffs. However, if accurate, these Xbox handhelds will be another set of premium-priced gaming handhelds.
Interestingly, known leaker eXtas1s suggests the regular Xbox Ally with an AMD Ryzen Z2 A chip will be priced from $499, while the AMD Ryzen AI Z2 Extreme-equipped ROG Xbox Ally X will start at $799. These are far more attractive price points, but seeing the leaked prices indicates these could be at least $100 more.
The ROG Xbox Ally and Xbox Ally X are set to launch this fall, with rumors suggesting an October release date (with pre-orders expected to arrive in August). We'll know the official price of these gaming handhelds soon, but it's already looking like these consoles will match the competition of other premium handhelds.
With the latest AMD processors, upgraded specs and new Xbox Experience app launching with the consoles, it isn't surprising that Microsoft's upcoming handhelds would come with premium price tags — not unlike other recent PC gaming handhelds.
To put this into perspective, the recent Lenovo Legion Go S with SteamOS starts at $549 with a Ryzen Z2 Go chip, with the Ryzen Z1 Extreme coming in at $829. Along with this, the MSI Claw 8 AI+ starts at $899 with its Intel Core Ultra 7 258V chip.

As for Asus' previous offerings, the ROG Ally is set at $699, while the beefier ROG Ally X is priced from $799. With the price leak in mind, the Xbox versions could look slightly different. We previously predicted the ROG Xbox Ally will be around $599 or less, while the ROG Xbox Ally X could drop somewhere between $799 to $999.
Unsurprisingly, this puts both models well ahead of the $449 Nintendo Switch 2, with the highest-end $649 Steam Deck OLED being just ahead of the rumored pricing of the base ROG Xbox Ally. All that said, Asus' handhelds offer some of the most powerful handheld gaming performance on the market, and with the upgraded Ryzen Z2 Extreme chip (along with the less powerful Z2 A processor), these are set to be high-end portable gaming machines.
There's still a lot to learn about Asus' upcoming Xbox handhelds, and it won't be long until we see if they belong among the best gaming handhelds around.

Microsoft says Chinese hackers ‘exploited vulnerabilities' in software servers
Microsoft has said Chinese hackers breached its SharePoint document software servers in a bid to target major corporations and government agencies. The Silicon Valley firm said state-backed 'threat actors' have 'exploited vulnerabilities' in servers used by firms, although its cloud service has not been impacted. It linked the attack to two main groups, Linen Typhoon and Violet Typhoon, and flagged that another China-based group, Storm-2603, had also targeted its systems. Microsoft said in a message to customers that it has since released 'new comprehensive security updates' to deal with the incident. It said it had 'high confidence' that firms who do not install the new security updates could be targeted by the groups. In a statement, the company added: 'Investigations into other actors also using these exploits are still ongoing.' The tech firm said the attackers had been uploading malicious scripts which are then 'enabling the theft of the key material by threat actors'. Bloomberg reported that the US agency responsible for designing nuclear weapons was among those breached in the attack. It also reported that national governments in Europe and the Middle East have also been affected.

Steam Deck 2 rumored to be in the works — and it may arrive with a massive AMD APU upgrade
The rumored Steam Deck 2 is one of the most hotly anticipated gaming handhelds, and while it may be a while before it launches, Valve may finally have its reason to start working on its next-gen gaming device. According to a recent Moore's Law is Dead podcast (via Notebookcheck), internal sources suggest that Valve is working on its next device, pointing to a Steam Deck 2. What's more, it's tipped to deliver a major performance boost based on a now-leaked AMD "Magnus" Zen 6 APU, which is expected to power the PS6 and next Xbox. As reported, this processor is already rumored to be the driving force of next-gen consoles, as Moore's Law is Dead found ties with codenames found in the leaked documents. Notably, "Mero," with this being an unused codename for the Steam Deck's APU. Along with YouTuber Jimmy Champagne, the video discusses Valve's possible plans for its future roadmap, which includes a rumored Valve home console and hints at a subtle partnership with Sony. While much of this is speculation, as Valve has yet to officially announce a Steam Deck 2 being in the works, the rumored "Magnus" APU does give the company a reason to get its next-gen gaming handheld in the works. As per an interview with Valve's SteamOS designer, Pierre-Loup Griffais, the company isn't 'thinking about new hardware until next year at least.' That was back at CES 2025, and it's now looking like 2026 may be when we see this "new hardware." To further back this up, Griffais also stated to The Verge that "changing the performance level is not something we are taking lightly, and we only want to do so when there is a significant enough increase to be had," when talking about a possible Steam Deck successor. With this AMD "Magnus" APU with Zen 6 architecture now tipped to be involved with Valve's next-gen device, which is expected to offer a huge boost to performance in gaming, Valve may leverage some form of this processor to power its Steam Deck 2. Plus, seeing as it may be used in a PS6 or upcoming Xbox console, it should offer the "significant" performance leap Valve is after. There's no telling when a Steam Deck 2 will arrive, but with AMD's Zen 6 expected to arrive in 2026 or 2027, it looks to still be a good while until we see what Valve has up its sleeve. In the meantime, Microsoft's upcoming ROG Xbox Ally and Ally X are set to launch this fall, and there's at least a Lenovo Legion Go S with SteamOS to check out. Moreover, the Valve Deckard VR headset is tipped to be arriving soon. With a first look at a leaked Lenovo Legion Go 2 prototype indicating a September launch, too, it's looking to be a big year for next-gen gaming handhelds.
