This City Was Just Named the Wealthiest Suburb in Texas—and It Has Less Than 15,000 Full-time Residents

Everything's bigger in Texas, including the wealth.
On Aug. 1, GOBankingRates revealed its list of the 20 wealthiest suburbs in Texas, which it found by first reviewing all Texas cities with more than 5,000 households. It then isolates the 20 suburbs with the highest average household income, which it sourced via the 2023 American Community Survey. It also identified which metro area they were a suburb of, as well as the 2025 typical home value for the city, via data from Zillow. And it found that those living in these suburbs are making a pretty penny, starting at $165,000 and going up to more than $400,000 a year.
After doing all the digging, it named West University Place the wealthiest suburb in the state.
The Houston suburb, GOBankingRates explained, has an average household income of $409,677 and a typical home value of $1,758,363. It's on the smaller side for suburbs with fewer than 15,000 full-time residents; however, as Niche.com explains, that only lends to its more rural, down-home appeal. It also notes that the town is filled with "a lot of bars, restaurants, coffee shops, and parks," ensuring everyone has something to do.
Niche also gave the town an overall A+ rating thanks to its access to health and fitness facilities and for its family-friendly atmosphere. The town also scored an A- for its nightlife and outdoor activities, and a B+ for its school systems. It also snagged a B+ for its work opportunities and for its short commutes.
"West U is more than just a neighborhood; it's a vibrant community pulsating with life and charm," one resident wrote about the town in the Niche.com reviews. "Nestled amidst tree-lined streets and cozy sidewalks, West U exudes an inviting atmosphere that instantly feels like home. From the cheerful sounds of children playing in the local parks to the aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafting from quaint cafes, every corner of West U tells a story of neighborly warmth and camaraderie."
Joining West University Place at the top of the list is University Park, a suburb of Dallas, at No. 2, thanks to its average household income of $389,868 and typical home value of $2,445,874, followed by Southlake, another Dallas suburb, where people earn an average household income of $382,520 with a typical home value of $1,284,219.
Bellaire, a suburb of Houston, came in at No. 4, with an average household income of $311,033, and a typical home value of $1,123,984, and Colleyville, another suburb of Dallas, rounded out the top five with an average household income of $265,831, and a typical home value of $924,700.

Thomas Edison and Henry Ford among the original snowbirds: The rich going to Florida for the winters

FORT MYERS, Fla. — Thomas Edison and Henry Ford are famous for their innovations in electricity generation and automobiles respectively, but they were also at the forefront of a massively popular trend in Florida: Rich people from up north spending the cold winter months in the Sunshine State. Edison first visited Fort Myers in 1885 after a doctor suggested spending time in Florida's warmer climate for health reasons, and he built a house along the Caloosahatchee River the next year. Ford made many visits to southwest Florida to see Edison and purchased the property next door in 1916.

Intel stock jumps on report Trump admin. is considering stake

Shares of Intel (INTC) jumped 7% following a Bloomberg report that the Trump administration is considering taking a stake in the chip giant. The report states that the size of the stake the government would take is unclear, with one of the outlet's sources stressing that talks were fluid. Market Domination Overtime Anchor Josh Lipton reports the breaking details, and Investopedia editor in chief Caleb Silver weighs in. To watch more expert insights and analysis on the latest market action, check out more Market Domination Overtime. the Trump administration considering taking a stake in chipmaker Intel. This is going to bloomberg news. That deal would help shore up intel's plan factory hub in Ohio, according to the report. Company had once promised to turn that site, remember, into the world's largest chip making facility. It's unclear the size of this potential stake the US would have, but the plans seem to have stemmed from a meeting this week, remember between President Trump and Intel's chief executive officer. The ideas for the US government to pay for the stake, details being sorted out. Caleb, headlines coming fast and furious. The stock reacting about two percent in the after hours. What do you make of it? Yeah. Well, things have really changed for the Putan, the CEO of Intel because just a week, week and a half ago. Trump was saying you're out. He wanted his ouster. He called for his head. Yeah. Right. So this is administration getting very deep into the private sector into some of the most important companies in the market, doing some of the most important things. And the reality for Intel is they have the manufacturing base here more than any other chip maker in the US to produce a lot of chips. And if we're going to become a chip producing nation, we're going to need Intel. We're going to need its foundry. We're going to need all of its factories all over the southwest and everywhere else to make as many chips as possible. The fact that the US might take a stake, that's an interesting conflict of interest, but everything is interesting these days with this administration. You know, the reports saying this is fluid. It sounds like we don't have a lot of details yet. So we'll see how this all flushes out and works out. It is interesting though, Caleb, as a long time market watcher that you are, when we talk about Intel, and here you have this, this storied American company. But on this show, listen, we talk about Nvidia and AMD, and Broadcom, and Micron, and you name it. Intel is not discussed all that much. It is not in the bloodstream like it used to be. Because it missed arguably the AI chip making wave. It's catching up to it, but it got, it missed the head start that Nvidia was on to, that AMD was on to, that a lot of these other chip makers have invested in tens and hundreds of billions of dollars over the last few years, and they've been rewarded for it. So it missed that. It's losing a big customer in Apple who's going to be making its own chips, and it lost its way arguably for a while. But it does have the infrastructure in place in this country to do a lot of chip manufacturing if it had the investment. So far, it doesn't have any big customers for its foundry business, which it invested a lot of money, and that was supposed to be the future. Maybe this, if it's true, turns things around a little bit, but we haven't mentioned Intel in a while. We had mentioned Cisco in a while, and Cisco on the program earlier today. These are like partying, like it's 1999 all over again. It sounds like Intel's declined comment on the discussions. Just sounds like the White House not immediately responding to request for comment either, but we'll keep you posted on headlines as they come.

Tesla confirms highly anticipated vehicle update with 'mind-blowing' new tech: 'Definitely in development'

After years of delays and speculation, Tesla has officially confirmed that its long-awaited Roadster is moving forward in development. Teslarati reported the confirmation came during a recent X Takeover event in California, where Tesla senior vice president of powertrain Lars Moravy provided new updates about the project. Moravy stated that "Roadster is definitely in development" and revealed that Tesla is "gearing up for a super cool demo" that will showcase new technology the company has been developing. He reportedly described the upcoming demonstration as something that will be "mind-blowing" for audiences. The executive's comments followed a cryptic post from CEO Elon Musk about attending a meeting at Tesla's Design Studio in Hawthorne, California. Musk had promised a "most epic demo" by the end of the year but remained vague about which project would be featured. Moravy confirmed that Tesla showed Musk demos of new technology destined for the Roadster, noting that the CEO got "a little excited" after seeing what the team had been working on. The Roadster has seen multiple delays since the company first announced the next-generation version. According to Teslarati, Tesla cited several factors for this, including COVID-19 disruptions and a strategic focus shift. Tesla also indicated that it continues adding new technology to ensure the electric vehicle meets ambitious performance targets. Customers have been waiting years for the Roadster's arrival. Some won the vehicle through Tesla's referral program, while others placed deposits of $50,000. The company previously hinted at eye-popping features, including a SpaceX package that could enable hovering capabilities and help the car accelerate from zero to 60 mph in just 1.1 seconds. The upcoming demonstration could mark a pivotal moment for Tesla as it seeks to maintain its position as a leader in EV innovation amid a terrible 2025 that has seen sales drop across the globe. Advanced electric vehicles like the Roadster can help accelerate the wider transition away from gas-powered cars, reducing harmful air pollution that contributes to climate change and poor air quality, and health.
