
Progress of solar agri pump scheme reviewed
KUSUM-B is Component B of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthan Mahabhiyan (PM KUSUM) scheme, which focuses on the installation of 14 lakh stand-alone solar agriculture pumps for irrigation.
Under the scheme, solar-powered agricultural pump sets are being promoted with a 30 per cent subsidy offered by the Central government, 50 per cent given by the State government, and 20 per cent borne by the beneficiary farmers.

Youth Congress workers stage protest at Anert office
The Youth Congress on Tuesday staged a protest at the office of the Agency for New and Renewable Energy Research and Technology (Anert) demanding a comprehensive probe into the alleged irregularities and corruption involved in the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan (PM-KUSUM) scheme. The Youth Congress workers also demanded the removal of Anert CEO Narendra Nath Veluri from the post. Senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala had levelled allegations of corruption against Anert in connection with the implementation of the PM-KUSUM scheme. Despite the seriousness of the allegations, Electricity Minister K. Krishnankutty has not taken any action against the CEO, they alleged. The Youth Congress workers were later removed by the police. Youth Congress State secretaries Rajith Raveendran and Afsal, district vice president Sulfi Balaramapuram and district secretary Gokul Shankar led the protest.

Karnataka Chief Minister to attend programmes in Delhi on August 1, 2
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will be in New Delhi on August 1 and 2 to participate in two different programmes. On August 1, he will attend 'Bridge to Bengaluru', a dialogue with diplomats on global innovation alliance for technology as a prelude to India's flagship technology forum, Bengaluru Tech Summit 2025. The event will be held at Hotel ITC Maurya. Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar and IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge too will attend the programme. On August 2, he will attend a seminar on 'Social Justice and the Constitution: Ideas of Equality and fraternity', organised by the AICC in Delhi. AICC president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior leader Rahul Gandhi will also attend, according to an official press release.

Andhra Chief Secretary directs officials to expedite power schemes
Amaravati, July 29 (PTI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Secretary K Vijayanand on Tuesday directed officials of Andhra Pradesh Central Power Distribution Corporation Limited (APCPDCL) to accelerate the implementation of major power sector schemes. Vijayanand chaired a meeting at the Bapatla collector office with APCPDCL, Energy Department and district officials to review the status of centrally sponsored schemes. 'APCPDCL officials should work towards accelerating the implementation of major power sector schemes," said Vijayanand in an official press release. The Chief Secratary instructed officials to focus on the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), PM-Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana (rooftop solar power scheme), PM-KUSUM (ensures energy security for farmers) Component-C and smart metering initiatives. Timely execution of sanctioned works and visible outcomes in the field are essential for improving reliability and consumer satisfaction, said Vijayanand. Progress under PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana was examined and the Chief Secretary directed officials to expedite rooftop solar installations, proper synchronization and timely subsidy disbursal to beneficiaries. He also reviewed PM-KUSUM Component-C, instructing teams to resolve land issues and fast-track feeder-level solarisation across the districts.
