Mario Kart World is not just about crossing that finish line anymore. The high-octane racing game by Nintendo has introduced the Photo Mode feature, a new tool for creative fans. The feature lets the players freeze the action and craft some stunning images of Karting adventures.
Whether you are snapping the shots mid-race or simply posing in the Free Roam, the feature adds a creative twist to the chaos. Here is how you can make the most of it and take some amazing in-game pictures.
How to freeze the action with Mario Kart World Photo Mode?
Forget about pausing in the middle of the game like the old ways. To dive into Photo Mode, just press the Minus (-) button on the Nintendo Switch 2 controller during single-player races, replays, or Free Roam. It will instantly freeze the action and allow you to take control of the camera.
Crucially, the feature shines in Free Roam mode, where the exploration is an important key, and even during Replay viewings after the race.
The photo mode is WILD in Mario Kart World
As the Photo Mode gets activated, you can gain free camera movement with the generous area around the racer. It allows you to find an absolutely perfect angle, whether it is the sweeping scenic view or the dramatic low shot. The function is just straightforward—hit the minus button to freeze the world and start to compose the shot.

Craft perfect Karting moment in Mario Kart World
The Mario Kart World Photo Mode offers a surprising depth of customization. Adjust the camera using the L/R buttons. It will let you zoom in for the close-ups and out for the wider vistas. Tilt the camera up or down using the ZL/ZR button. It will let you add dramatic flair to the images. It is not just about the environment. You can even make your racer a star.
Choose X for cycling through varied poses the character can strike while they are in Kart.
You can change the mood instantly by hitting Y. It will let you select varied facial expressions—from triumphant grins to determined focus. If you wish the character to look directly at the camera, simply press A. It will make the racer face your viewpoint.
You can even refine the shot with the D-Pad. Up/Down will let you adjust the focus to have depth-of-field effects. Left/Right, on the other hand, will let you select the decorative frames to border the image.
As you are satisfied, press the Capture button to snap out of the created masterpiece. Then, press minus (-) again or choose Plus (+) to hide HUD to have a clean shot before capturing.
Share your Mario Kart World masterpieces
The captured moments by players are not just stuck in the game. Once you take the picture, press Home Button. You will spot the Album icon. It's located at the screen's bottom. Select it and open the Mario Kart World snapshots personal gallery.
Review all the pictures, or zoom in to appreciate the details before you share your creativity. As the album seamlessly integrates with the Nintendo Switch app, it allows you to upload favorite images to the connected smart device with ease. Once done, show off the best poses, most scenic Free Roam discoveries, and wildest crashes with fellow fans and friends.
