Mercury Retrograde Is Back. Your Ex Might Be, Too.
Mercury, the messenger planet, goes retrograde three times a year. As it passes the Earth in its orbit, it appears to be moving backward through the sky. Although this is an illusion, astrologers can attest to the true impact of an M.R. During this time, everything that Mercury rules also goes in reverse: communication, transportation, scheduling, mobile devices. If we had a dollar for every cracked screen and data leak that happened during Mercury retrograde, we'd have retired to a private island long ago.
Pollyanna spin: Mercury retrogrades can bring hidden blessings. This forced slowdown provides an opportunity to focus on all the 're' activities in your life: revising, revisiting, reconnection, reconfiguring. In other words, the things you generally don't make time for because you're too busy barreling ahead.
Still, we aren't going to hard sell you on the idea that Mercury retrograde is a walk in the park. These three-week cycles are notorious for spinning up misunderstandings, messing with digital devices, and screwing up schedules. People from the past tend to pop back up—and often unceremoniously.
This summer's retrograde comes with extra dramatic flair. Since Mercury is backing up through the Leo part of the sky, this flamboyant fire sign's energy is getting involved. First and foremost, tamp down the peacocking and performative behaviors. Life may not be a dress rehearsal, but if it starts to resemble an episode of The Gilded Age, send your inner Bertha Russell back to her trailer. As the sign of the luxurious royal, Leo can get a little bit too concerned with status, 'society', and appearances.
Since passionate Leo is one of the zodiac's hopeless romantics, summer love should be approached cautiously from July 18 to August 11. Old flames may reemerge for an encore—or at least a cameo you didn't see coming. Although Mercury retrograde in Leo has a flair for rekindling old sparks, think twice before you jump back into character. Is this relationship really worth reenacting, or it better to move on to a more rewarding script?
Another advisory: Steer clear of any major style updates. Mercury retrograde is never the best time to experiment with drastic haircuts or any wild aesthetic updates. But when it's backing up through vivacious Leo? Let Cardi B handle the Paris Haute Couture Week fashion and just enjoy being a spectator in your quiet luxury OOTDs. The catwalk will still be there after the retrograde.
What will you have to show for yourself? Tap into the imaginative powers of Leo to polish up a project that needs some more BTS love. Pull that half-finished screenplay or painting out, and get back to work on it. Silence notifications, and turn on some music. There are better things to do with your mind and hands than furiously texting your toxic ex.

The Gilded Age EPs Defend That Tragic Twist in Episode 6: ‘I Jumped Out of My Skin When I Watched It'
The Gilded Age Oscar van Rhijn will never cross the street without looking both ways ever again. More from TVLine IT: Welcome to Derry Trailer: A Missing Child and Evil Spirit Cause a Small Maine Town to Freak - Plus, Get Premiere Month Save the Dates: Solar Opposites Swan Song, E! News Shuts Down and More The Gilded Age Star Takes Us Inside Marian and Larry's Romantic Moment in Episode 5: 'I Think Both of Us Cried' Sunday's episode ended with the shocking death of John Adams (Claybourne Elder), who was struck by a speeding horse carriage after sharing one last affectionate moment with Oscar on the streets of New York City. 'You've defied the odds,' John told Oscar after leaving an important meeting that set him back on the path to financial stability. 'You are my savior,' Oscar replied, practically bursting to express his love for John, yet forced to settle for a firm handshake. 'I thank you with all my heart.' Even if it wasn't the L-bomb per se, at least Oscar can take some solace in knowing that his final words to John were of affection; poor John stepped off the sidewalk moments later, leaving Oscar gasping for air as he watched his lover's limp body hit the ground. It was a bold swing, one viewers aren't necessarily accustomed to seeing on The Gilded Age. Sure, Ada lost her husband last season, but at least Luke's illness provided some warning, both for Ada and for the audience. John's sudden death on the city streets was brutal, shocking and, as many viewers are likely to point out, somewhat problematic. We weren't realistically expecting Oscar and John to live happily ever after as out gay men, certainly not in the late 1880s, but did their heartbreaking story really need to take yet another tragic turn? Even a life of secret trysts and unspoken love would be better than *checks sidewalk* no life at all. For what it's worth, co-showrunners Julian Fellowes and Sonja Warfield have no regrets about this particularly grim turn of events, as it apparently serves to propel Oscar's storyline in a significant way moving forward. That much will become clear in the next episode, once the initial shock of John's death has subsided. None of those upcoming developments 'would have been achievable if John Adams had lived,' Fellowes teases to TVLine, adding that they were 'quite careful to kill him with a straight accident, not with anything with political overtones. He's just killed in an accident, like anyone could be at any time.' 'Those shocking things are true in life,' adds Warfield. 'I've certainly experienced those traumas. They change you, and we wanted to bring about that change in Oscar.' Putting emotions aside, purely from a technical standpoint, Fellowes believes the show pulled off John's death 'quite well,' saying, 'I jumped out of my skin when I watched it for the first time.' Elsewhere in Season 3, Episode 6… Bertha made good on her promise to George, traveling to Buckingham to remind Lady Sarah who's really in charge now that Gladys and the Duke are married; rather than raking Maud across the coals, Oscar chose a more graceful path, giving her enough money to leave town and start over; furious that Larry lied about visiting an establishment of ill repute, Marian considered ending their engagement; Jack was awkwardly fired once Agnes learned how much he earned from his invention ('It's hard to believe there's a God in heaven!'); after realizing that her so-called 'psychic' is a total fraud, Ada found unexpected comfort in her sister's arms; and Peggy began to tell William about her complicated past, but he assured her that the present is far more important to him. If only his dear, sweet mother felt the same way. OK, let's talk: On a scale from one to 'WTF,' how surprised were you by John's death, and do you the think the show went too far by killing him off? Did you also relish Bertha's scenes with Lady Sarah in England? (She really has been in need of a worthy female sparring partner this season.) And which relationship has you more concerned — Peggy and William's, or Marian and Larry's? Drop a comment with your thoughts on all things below. Cardi B Sued Over Viral Vegas ‘Mic-Throwing' Incident, Bardi's Attorney Calls Assault Case An ‘Opportunity To Make Money'
It might be time for Cardi B to pull out her courtroom Bardi bob once again as she faces a lawsuit from a woman claiming she was struck in the viral microphone-throwing incident during a Las Vegas performance in 2023. Source: Stephane Cardinale – Corbis / Getty If you need to refresh your memory, the moment was all over the internet a few years back. Cardi rocked the stage at Drais' Beachclub nearly two years ago and she had the crowd going wild… a little too wild. She was hotter than the Vegas sun as she rapped the breakout hit, 'Bodak Yellow.' As BOSSIP previously reported, when the Am I The Drama? diva approached the crowd, a woman in the audience decided to cool her off with a cup of water. The anonymous woman wasn't the only one. Earlier in the show, the 'W.A.P.' rapper asked fans to help her beat the triple-digit heat by splashing her onstage. Cardi continued to perform, and several songs later, the anonymous woman decided to keep the cold water flowing. Once the drink hit Cardi's face, she hurled her microphone back into the crowd in a split-second reaction. The unnamed woman claims the microphone hit her and now she's suing for assault, battery, and negligence. She also claimed that the charity auction of the mic, which sold for $99,000, 'exacerbated [her] emotional distress,' TMZ reports. After the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigated the incident, they declined to charge the Grammy winner in August 2023. According to Complex, the police report didn't come from the drink thrower, but another woman accidentally hit when the airborne audio equipment ricocheted off the alleged drink thrower. Check out Cardi B's side of the story after the flip! In an interview on The Breakfast Club , Cardi explained the water, the mic, and why she singled out one fan. When Charlamagne asked if Cardi regretted taking aim at one of her fans, she said, 'It was really like a quick reaction.' During one part of the set, she welcomed some waterworks because 'the Vegas heat ain't no joke,' but those fans understood the assignment. 'It was hotter than a motherf**ker! So, there was a part of the show that I told people, 'Splash me!' But even then I told them, 'Be careful with the face because the face is beat, b***h!'' she explained. When the moment passed, Cardi expected the rest of the show to go as planned. However, she said the anonymous women tried to get in on the action 'four songs' or about '15 to 20 minutes' after she was over the splashing. She noted that the woman 'threw water and ice on my face!' At that point, Cardi said she just 'automatically reacted' and didn't 'even know that I was throwing it.' The 'Enough' star clarified that the ice shocked her, but the reaction came from the drink hitting her in the face. She asked how ten other people could splash only her body, but this one attendee got her directly in the face, against her wishes. When Cardi reviewed the video, she said it confirmed to her that the woman 'intended to throw that s**t in my face.' Welp, Cardi claimed it was a reflex in self-defense. And her attorney calls this latest lawsuit a money grab. 'The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department and the Clark County District Attorney's Office closed this matter for insufficient evidence a long time ago, but apparently the opportunity to try to make money off of a celebrity was too much for some willing law firm to pass up,' attorney Drew Findling said. Your Horoscope for the Week of July 27
After last week's drama, we can use a dose of TLC, so think of the upcoming days as your cosmic first aid kit—it's time to mend and heal those battle wounds. Venus dives into Cancer on July 30, making us more sentimental and empathetic to others. On July 31, the Sun connects with Mercury Retrograde in Leo, strengthening our communication and decisions. This is the best day of Mercury's moonwalk to make plans and to have conversations. Venus squares Saturn Retrograde and Neptune Retrograde in Aries on August 1, pushing us to be limiting and unconditional with our emotions. These two energies juxtapose each other, so we might be up and down and all around in the way we express ourselves or feel. Keep on reading for how the astrological events of this week will impact your Sun, Moon, and Rising signs. You are the type of ram that likes to make things happen on the fly. However, the days ahead might be unmotivating to your tenacious spirit, urging you to be uninspired. Even the most rambunctious of us all require time to recalibrate, and this is your week to do so. Do not get too caught up in a daydream or your emotions that you get whisked away in the vision. Remember to place one foot on solid ground to ensure you can keep up with your responsibilities, even if they seem trivial and burdensome at this particular juncture in time. When was your last vacay? You are in desperate need of a break from work and life, so plan a local trip to escape the mundane. Use this time to unwind and relieve tensions. You should do you and spend your days away from your inbox to relish the moment. Even though you may not be successful when you shoot your shot at asking for a raise, it'll get the ball rolling for the future. Consider this your chance to let management know how fabulous you are and why you deserve a pay increase. They might even meet you halfway. You bring the good vibes to the party, which is why you're the first invite sent out. Mercury is moonwalking on your Sun, so you might want to leave the festivities early after posting a few selfies to decompress. Put your needs above anything, even if you have FOMO. Quit hiding behind your fear of being unliked. Let people know that their actions are upsetting to you. The more direct and confrontational you are, the easier your problems will be to remedy and cultivate deeper relationships. Now, you can be assertive and stand up without worrying about the outcome. You are in a love bubble with your boo that no one can seemingly interrupt. The world begins and ends with them, so your focus is on making your partner happy. As long as you get what you're giving before you cry out for fairness, the ship will remain intact. You might be in a little bit of a daze when organizing and taking care of chores, but that doesn't mean you won't have fun while doing so. A deep cleaning to switch up the stagnant energy in your house will add pep and power to your step this week. Who says you can't have your cake and eat it too? As long as you are real with the desired results from impractical creative ventures, you can take on other things that will brighten your artistry and work. Understand your limits and remain in the know about the honest feedback. It seems as though everyone has an opinion about your life and isn't telling you to your face. If people want to be shady and talk behind your back, then that is on them. A true friend stabs you in the front with honesty. They don't act in unkind ways. You're not the reason why the rumors started, but you aren't helping them die down. Before repeating the tea, think about how it'll affect your friend. You wouldn't want to be in their situation, so have compassion and squash the gossip in its tracks to ensure your bestie isn't hurt. Be aware of your spending habits this week. Money comes and goes, and you will feel the stress and burn of not having enough to hang with your pals. A budgeted life is doable if you curb your shopping, thirst for top-shelf liquor, and Uber Eats.
