Fifth python discovered on road just one week after 'monster' 18ft snake found
The severely dehydrated and injured albino python was spotted on Kirton Road near Twigmoor Woods in Lincolnshire by members of the public on Saturday evening.
Humberside Police arrived on the scene soon after and officers contacted RSG Reptiles in Alford.
The rescue and animal encounter firm had already recovered one 18ft, 50kg 'monster' python at Twigmoor Woods and three others in the nearby village of Manton on June 13 and 14.
The five snakes, all reticulated pythons over 11ft long, are currently in the care of RSG.
After the first four were found, police said there were reports of a fifth snake on the loose and warned people to be vigilant and keep dogs on a lead.
It's suspected all were abandoned by the same owner, who has not yet been identified.
Officers from Humberside Police's Rural Task Force are investigating potential offences under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
Rob Stokes, co-owner of RSG Reptiles, told Metro that when they arrived to collect the fifth python 'police were on the scene redirecting traffic and the snake had been kept underneath a pop up tent to keep it contained'.
He said the female python was severely dehydrated and had an infected wound, so will need vet treatment.
'We've been treating her with baths, and cleaning the wound every day and the swelling has gone down, but a trip to the vets has been arranged for this evening,' he added.
'She's lucky she survived – especially considering she's been out in the elements for more than a week and ended up on a busy road.'
One of the other snakes, also an albino, will likely need treatment as well he added, as it is covered in lumps.

'The rest of the snakes seem really well, however. They all have lovely personalities and are all very friendly,' he said.
Rob said rescuing five snakes in little more than a week was 'very unusual, especially ones of this size' and urged any reptile owners struggling to care for their pets to reach out for help instead of abandoning the animals.
'The reptile community is so large there is always someone out there who would be able to remove these reptiles and look after them. There is no need to abandon them.
'There are many people to contact if you cannot look after your reptiles anymore – we can take them and so can NCRW, RSPCA or any exotic pet shop.'
The reptiles will be treated as police evidence while an investigation is ongoing, Rob explained.
Once there's a prosecution or no further action from police they will either be given new suitable homes or stay at RSG and potentially become part of the firm's animal encounter experiences.
Rob said he wanted to thank members of the public for staying with the fifth python until they arrived.
'They, along with the police, stood there in the heat waiting for us, to make sure the snake was safe. It shows how wonderful the community is and we want to say a heartfelt thanks.' More Trending

Reticulated pythons are the world's largest type of snake and native to South East Asia. They're non venomous but can squeeze the life out of their prey.
However, RSG and the police said pythons – especially pets – will generally not attack humans unless they feel threatened.

Mohammed Fahir Amaaz, 20, lashed out at police called to respond to an earlier incident at the Starbucks cafe in the Terminal 2 building. Amaaz was convicted of assaulting PC Lydia Ward and emergency worker PC Ellie Cook. He was also found guilty of headbutting a member of the public Abdulkareem Ismaeil, who he had claimed racially abused his mother on an incoming flight. CCTV footage of the assault was played to jurors at Liverpool Crown Court and shows Amaaz throwing 10 punches, including one to the face of PC Ward that broke her nose and knocked her to the floor. The jury was unable to reach a verdict on allegations that Amaaz and his brother, Muhammad Ahmed, 26, assaulted PC Zachary Marsden causing actual bodily harm. Prosecutors are now seeking a retrial on these counts. Amaaz insisted his actions, including the headbutt in Starbucks, were all in self-defence, and told jurors he did not realise two of the police officers he hit were women. The brothers had travelled to the airport with their young nephew to collect their mother who was due to arrive back on a flight from Qatar on July 23 last year. Three officers, PC Zachary Marsden and PC Ellie Cook – both armed – and PC Lydia Ward, unarmed, had approached the siblings after a report that a male fitting his description had headbutted a customer at Starbucks cafe in T2 arrivals. PC Ward said she had 'never experienced' such violence towards her in her police service. The officer, who joined GMP in 2018, said: 'Never in my whole time in the police service had that level of violence been used on me before. It felt really hard. 'As I came round, all I could feel was blood pouring out of my nose. I was just thinking he has done something to my nose, face area, I didn't know what has happened.' She added: 'I was absolutely terrified. I had never experienced that level of violence towards me in my life. 'I didn't know who was going to come up at me next. I was scared of going after this male again and being punched in the face again.' Cross-examining Amaaz, who said he didn't realise PC Ward was a woman when he punched her, Mr Greaney said: 'The prosecution case is there was absolutely nothing defensive in punching that woman (PC Ward) in the face. Crocodile that terrorised town for three days turned out to be an inflatable toy

Police and animal control officers brought in drones to track down the reptile as it floated in the Sanguinara river near Ladispoli. Pictures and videos of the toy were shared around the town and on social media, although nobody seemed to pick up on the fact that the croc was always in an identical pose and never seen moving. The search went on for about three days – until the crocodile was finally revealed to simply be an inflatable toy. One woman who spoke to local media said the crocodile was a 'toy we leave here for other children to play with', adding a 'large dinosaur' toy had also been left in the same area. Now the town's authorities are threatening legal action for 'causing alarm' – but it's not known who they will direct the complaint against. Earlier this week the town's mayor, Alessandro Grando, issued a press release warning residents to be careful. In an updated statement shared on Facebook last night he admitted the incident had been a 'false alarm'. Mr Grando said: 'After the necessary checks that have been carried out, we can finally confirm that there are no dangerous reptiles in the Sanguinara River. 'Although it was an unlikely circumstance, the competent authorities carried out all necessary checks to exclude any potential risk to the public. Julian Brown has not been seen in public since July 9 after he posted a video claiming that he was under attack. Nia Brown told reporters she could not provide anymore details. But who is Julian Brown and why is there mystery over his whereabouts? We take a look below. Julian is an inventor who lives in Atlanta, Georgia, and has more than 1.7million followers on Instagram. He gained prominence for his work in the energy field in particular 'Plastoline'. The inventor has gained lots of public attention and millions of followers after sharing updates on social media about his work. He's only hit the headlines this month after his mysterious disappearance from social media. Julian is the founder of Naturejab, a company that makes natural products, as 'an innovator in the use of microwave pyrolysis of plastic waste.' He is best known for inventing Plastoline – a device that he claims converts plastic waste into usable fuels such as gasoline, diesel and jet fuel. This is achieved by microwave pyrolysis which heats plastic in the absence of oxygen to break it down chemically into fuel. He first learnt his skills at school during a welding class. Talking about his inspiration behind the creation of the technology, he said: 'It made me so upset that even though we are told that we are recycling, plastic is clearly ending up in the oceans and landfills where it is affecting so many lives, including our own.' He received $100,000 from Reddit co-creator Alexis Ohanian, to realise his dream. Julian has not been heard from since July 9 and posted a chilling video before his disappearance. Before July 9, he also posted some concerning messages where it appeared like he felt he was being targeted. It sparked concern from his followers that he was in danger for his invention.
