Paresh Rawal Apologised To Priyadarshan For Leaving Hera Pheri 3: 'I'm Sorry I Left'
Paresh Rawal apologised to Priyadarshan for quitting Hera Pheri 3, calling it a personal decision. The heartfelt apology paved the way for his return to the film.
In a heartening development for fans of Indian comedy cinema, veteran actor Paresh Rawal is officially back on board for Hera Pheri 3, months after stepping away from the project. Director Priyadarshan, who helmed the original cult classic in 2000, has now opened up about the emotional and surprising turn of events that brought Rawal back into the fold.
In a candid conversation with Mid-Day, Priyadarshan revealed that Paresh personally called to apologise for his earlier exit from the film. 'Both Akshay and Paresh called to say everything is sorted. I was in shock when Paresh said, 'Sir, I'm doing the movie.' He added, 'I've never had anything but respect for you. I've done 26 films with you, and I'm sorry for leaving. There were some personal issues.' He told me that he, Akshay, and Suniel met and cleared the air."
The director, who is currently working on the script, stressed how crucial all three characters—Raju, Shyam, and Baburao—are to the franchise. 'Whatever I do, I cannot surpass Hera Pheri. The second part was bad—it was a copy of a Hollywood film. But Hera Pheri can't happen without all three. In fact, a diamond merchant once approached me on a flight and said, 'Please bring back Paresh Rawal. We won't watch it otherwise,'" he shared.
Earlier this year, fans were left disheartened when Paresh announced he would not be returning to the iconic role of Baburao Ganpatrao Apte, citing personal reasons and creative differences. The surprise exit was reportedly followed by Akshay Kumar filing a legal notice, given the impact on production timelines. However, things seem to have taken a positive turn in recent weeks.
During a recent podcast with Himanshu Mehta, Paresh confirmed his return, quipping, 'The film was going to happen anyway; we just needed a bit of fine-tuning. After all, everyone involved—Priyadarshan, Akshay, Suniel—we've been friends for so many years. It was just a matter of realigning."
With the OG trio of Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, and Paresh Rawal now reunited, anticipation for Hera Pheri 3 has skyrocketed. The first film, released in 2000, earned a cult following for its slapstick comedy, unforgettable dialogues, and brilliant chemistry between the leads. Its sequel, Phir Hera Pheri (2006), while less acclaimed critically, became a major box office success.
Now, with Priyadarshan back in the director's chair and the original cast reunited, Hera Pheri 3 promises a nostalgic yet fresh comic ride. Fans can't wait to revisit the chaotic world of Raju, Shyam, and Babu Bhaiya—and see what hilarious mess they land themselves in next.

Anush Agarwalla on his retired horse Sir Caramello Old: ‘When he hears sound of my car, he still knows he will be fed his favourite apples and carrots'
It is the start of a new friendship for Sir Caramello Old, at age 18. The Olympian horse retired by Anush Agarwalla, after his Dressage swansong at the Paris Olympics, gets along mighty well with another gelding, 19, Flovinos Feinr Kerl, who also rode last competitively in 2024 and was retired by the Indian equestrian. Now that he's relieved of the regimented lifestyle, and not having to walk and jump and trot and look a certain way, Sir Caramello has found liberation, thanks to Anush. And new friends too. 'Sir Caramello Old has made new friends. Earlier, he was on the field only in the morning; now he is out the whole day since his retirement. He goes out from 11 am to 5 pm with Flovionos Feinr Kerl, who was my second reserve horse,' Anush informs, even as he has moved on to competing with new-old stallion Etro, 11. 'It was not a surprise to retire him. He's 18, that was always the plan to retire him after the Olympics. He did his job. My duty is to return him to where he's happy with his friends. I didn't want to push. He's still fit and healthy, and it's not like I'll never see him again. He's one minute away from where I live in Germany,' Anush explained. The Indian rider drops in every second day, still for 20 odd minutes to check on him, though evenings can be chilly to go out rather than the stables. Anush misses the bond they shared. 'For 5-6 years, he knew the routine. Whenever he heard the sound of my car, he could recognise it was my footsteps. He would neigh, and knew I'd be carrying small treats like apples, carrots, and bananas. Just small memories,' Anush recalls. On their finest moment under the Parisian sun, Anush says that remains the highlight in his career, but the lead-up was exceptionally satisfying. 'What defined our bond was the qualification which was secured almost on the last possible day, on 29 December 2023. We went to the biggest shows, and whenever we competed, he was calm and composed. I miss that bond. It was special,' an emotional Anush says. Anush has moved on to younger horses, like Etro who's been with him awhile, as he prepares for the next Asian Games cycle where he first won a team gold and individual bronze medal on a preening, happily pouting Sir Caramello. 'This year we have moved up to Grand Prix level and want to build momentum.' The Indian ace, however, has more choices to pick from – with Straight Horse Floriana and Flynn added to his stables. 'I have 3 top horses ahead of the World Championship. It depends,' he says, not revealing who his choice might be. Caramello, however, will get his apples and carrots, irrespective, Anush has ensured.

Four Years Later OTT Release Date: When and where to watch Shahana Goswami's Australian-Indian series online
Four Years Later OTT Release Date: It's not every day that a cross-continental love story comes wrapped in quiet realism, out-of-this-world performances, and a setting that shifts between the chaotic colours of Jaipur and the clinical greys of Sydney. Four Years Later, a heart-tugging romance drama that explores what happens to love after the honeymoon ends, is finally making its way to Indian screens. The eight-episode series, which first premiered in Australia last year on SBS, is set to release in India on July 11, 2025, exclusively on Lionsgate Play. More about Four Years Later Starring the very dependable Shahana Goswami alongside Akshay Ajit Singh, this Australian-Indian collaboration is a refreshing break from the usual tropes we're fed in long-distance romance dramas. At its core, Four Years Later is about two people who start their marriage with hope, but then life throws in career dreams, distance, cultural expectations, and personal growth, and suddenly, love isn't the only thing on the table. The story follows Sridevi and Yash, a couple who marry in India through an arranged setup, only for Yash to quickly move to Sydney to begin his medical traineeship. Sridevi, meanwhile, stays back in India, caught between her in-laws' household and her own suspended ambitions. When she finally moves to Australia to reunite with her husband after years of separation, it's not the romantic reunion either of them imagined. They've both changed. Their priorities have shifted. And most importantly, they're no longer sure if they fit into each other's new lives. Four Years Later's cast and crew The supporting cast features names like Kate Box, Taj Aldeeb, and Luke Arnold. There's a nice interplay of languages too, Hindi and English flow organically. Four Years Later was created and written by Mithila Gupta, an Indian-origin Australian screenwriter who has previously worked on shows like Neighbours and Five Bedrooms. The direction is shared by Mohini Herse and Fadia Abboud. The music, composed by Isha Ram Das (Simpson), is minimal but effective. The series was shot in early 2024 across Mumbai, Jaipur, and Sydney. Its premiere on SBS in Australia was well-received, with critics praising its realistic portrayal of modern marriage and migration. It was even nominated for Best Miniseries at the AACTA Awards. And now, Indian audiences finally get a chance to experience this emotionally rich drama.
