Three Cops nabbed in dagga bust [video]

Three police officers, caught allegedly transporting dagga worth millions in Mpumalanga, are set to appear in the Nelspruit Magistrate's Court on Thursday, 12 June. The trio, while in full uniform, were on duty and were found driving a marked police vehicle loaded with 107 bags of dagga.
The officers, attached to the White River Flying Squad and SAPS, and two others were nabbed on the N4 Road near Matsulu T-junction, on Tuesday, 10 June. Members of Matsulu SAPS received information about the dodgy activity and responded.
The accused face charges of corrupt activities and defeating the ends of justice. According to a statement from SAPS additional charges could also be added as the drug related investigation continues.

The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General Dr Zeph Mkhwanazi commented on the dagga bust and said justice must prevail.
'If any member is found to have been on the other side of the law, regardless of whether they are police officers or any law enforcement agencies, the law will have to take his cause without any fear or favour.'
Major General Dr Mkhwanazi also emphasised that there is no one that is above the law.

A fourth missing persons case has been reported to the Middelburg Observer in the last month. • The Nkambule family from Hendrina and Siyathuthuka is pleading with the community in Kriel for assistance in locating their loved one, Khulekani Nkambule (23). He was last seen May 23 in Kriel, at the time of disappearance he was wearing all black clothes. Anyone with information that could assist in locating Khulekani Nkambule is asked to please call Siyabonga Nkambule on 076 368 1397. Nkambule's disappearance follows shortly on the following missing persons, all of whom have been reported to the Middelburg Observer: • Thabisile Thabethe (36), was last seen on May 30 at a bar in Blinkpan before heading home, she lives on Welverdiend Farm, and since then the Blinkpan SAPS and community members have been trying to contact her, the K9 unit from Secunda was organised to search with no potential sighting till today. • Meluleki Ndumiso Ncongwane (23) was last seen April 26, at the time of his disappearance he was wearing a grey and red tracksuit with white star sneakers. According to information Meluleki disappeared at around 22:00 between Stoffberg and Belfast Fourways, after being dropped off by a white Kia Picanto. • Hendrina Police are pleading with the public for assistance in locating Johannes Sibanyoni (45). Described as tall and light in complexion, Sibanyoni was last seen on May 25 wearing a blue shirt, brown trousers brown jacket, grey shoes and a black hat. The help of the SAPS and community members who tirelessly work around the clock and being on the lookout is commendable. They play an important role in the investigation processes. These are cases that are complex and can be emotionally challenging for the families and loved ones. The missing cases include the disappearance of minors and adults and it often includes foul play, mental health issues and other factors. Anyone with information about any possible sighting of the above-mentioned can report to their nearest police station. This after four learners were on Wednesday arrested by Jozini SAPS for public violence, attack on police officers, and malicious damage to property following violent protests outside a indicate that high school learners from two schools marched to a third school and staged violent protests at the gate. 'Four learners, aged between 18 and 20 years old, were arrested but were later released into the custody of their parents. Such conduct is unacceptable and the authenticity of the video will be investigated. 'If police are found to have acted using excessive force, necessary action will be taken. The victims were all in their twenties. The South African Police Service (Saps) say they are investigating three counts of murder after three unidentified bodies were found in an open veld in Johannesburg. It is understood that the bodies were found in Tshepisong Phase 6 on Thursday. Bodies Police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said the victims, all in their early twenties, were found dead at the scene. 'A fourth person, believed to have survived the attack, is currently at large. The motive behind the attack is currently unknown. Police investigations are underway. No arrest has been made yet'. ALS Paramedics spokesperson Garrith Jamieson said they responded to multiple calls of a shooting incident in the Hillary area on Wednesday at about 7:45pm. 'On arrival, paramedics found Saps already in attendance and were shown into a house. Paramedics found two people believed to be a mother in her sixties and a male believed to be her son in his thirties, who had sustained gunshot wounds to their heads. 'Paramedics assessed both of them; however, they showed no signs of life, and both were declared deceased on the scene,' Jamieson said. Jamieson said the circumstances leading up to the shooting are unknown; however, police were in attendance and will be investigating further. Deputy mayor killed The shooting comes a few days after Nyaniso Jindela, the former deputy mayor of Stellenbosch in the Western Cape, was shot and killed. It is understood that Jindela was shot dead on Monday evening. Western Cape police spokesperson Sergeant Wesley Twigg told The Citizen on Tuesday that police are investigating the shooting. 'Stellenbosch police registered a murder case for investigation following a shooting incident on Monday evening, 9 June 2025, at about 20:00, in Vineyard Street, Kayamandi, in which a 59-year-old man was shot and fatally wounded. 'Police members attended to the crime scene, where they found the victim with a gunshot wound to his throat. The victim was declared deceased on the scene by medical personnel.
