Fox News accidentally shows very unfortunate video while discussing Taylor Swift's new album

Daily Maila day ago
Fox News accidentally cut to footage of a violent brawl during a report about Taylor Swift.
The b-roll-related blunder could be seen on Tuesday's Fox & Friends. Reporter Carley Shimkus was in the midst of speaking about Swift's newly announced album.
But rather than a clip from the podcast where the pop star made the revelation, viewers were met with footage from the viral Cincinnati beatdown that left six injured last month.
'Well, that was not the clip,' Shimkus mused.
'You know, sometimes I just take something out of my pocket and throw it into the TV and it's the wrong thing,' she joked, as showrunners cut the clip in question.
In its place, a sequence of stills showing Swift performing populated the broadcast.
The album, titled The Life of a Showgirl, is the singer's 12th. A release date has not yet been announced.
Scroll down for video:
As for the broadcast, it went on as usual.
Shimkus told hosts Ainsley Earhardt, Brian Kilmeade, and Lawrence Jones that 'Swifties' can expect the new release 'soon.'
'Those are headlines. Back to you.'
Daily Mail contacted Fox News for comment.
The footage from the fight recorded in Cincinnati, meanwhile, has ignited controversy across the country, calling attention to increased incidents of violent crime in certain cities.
A seventh suspect related to the incident, which occurred on July 26, was arrested on Monday on charges of alleged aggravated riot and aggravated robbery. He was identified Tuesday as 32-year-old Gregory Wright.
The six other defendants were indicted by a grand jury for their alleged roles in the conflict last week.
They are: Patrick Rosemond, 38, Jermaine Matthews, 39, Montianez Merriweather, 34, DeKyra Vernon, 24, Dominique Kittle, 37, and Aisha Devaughn, 25.
Each are charged with three counts of alleged felonious assault, three charges of assault and two charges of aggravated rioting, the Hamilton County Prosecutor's Office said.
'What I saw on video is not the Cincinnati I know and love,' Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich said in a statement laying bare the charges last week. 'These charges hold those involved in the attack accountable.'

A tale of two Chief Pams: Federal takeover brings confusion over command of DC police

Attorney General Pam Bondi is effectively in charge of the police department in Washington, D.C. — so says the White House. But the city's police force already has a Pam at the helm — Chief Pamela Smith — and she says she only reports to the mayor. D.C. and federal officials say they are working together after President Donald Trump announced he was placing the police department in the nation's capital under federal control to crack down on violent crime. But despite the unified tone, the unusual arrangement is raising questions about who gets to make decisions about D.C. police resources, personnel and policy and — in the event of a disagreement — which Pam gets the final say. According to D.C. leaders, the attorney general can request services of the mayor, but nothing has changed when it comes to the chain of command and the department's funding. And when pressed Tuesday about who she reports to in light of the federal takeover, Smith said: 'I answer to Mayor Muriel Bowser.' 'Let us not have any controversy with that, OK?' Smith told reporters outside the Justice Department after meeting with Bondi and other federal officials. 'Because I know people want to build upon and create division. We're here to work together with our federal partners, and that's what we're going to do.' Yet hours later, the White House struck a different tone, suggesting the ultimate authority lies in the hands of Bondi and Terry Cole, the Drug Enforcement Administration director whom Trump has tapped to serve as interim federal administrator of the police force. 'We plan to work with the Metropolitan Police Department, but ultimately, the chain of command is as such: the president of the United States, the attorney general of the United States, our DEA administrator, Terry Cole, who is now serving head of the chief of the Metropolitan Police Department,' White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters. Cole is working with Smith 'to ensure that law enforcement officers are allowed to do their jobs in the city,' Leavitt said. Justice Department officials have not answered questions about whether the Trump administration believes it has the authority to make decisions about D.C. personnel, and whether the attorney general has issued any new orders for the police force. Smith took on her role as police chief in the nation's capital in November 2023 and briefly served in other units, including the homeland security bureau. She also led the police force's diversity, equity and inclusion efforts and had served as chief of the United States Park Police after a long career in that federal force. The law allows Trump to take over the D.C. police for up to 30 days, though the White House has suggested it could last longer as authorities later 'reevaluate and reassess.' Extending federal control past that time would require congressional approval, something likely tough to achieve in the face of Democratic resistance. Hundreds of federal officers from the FBI, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and other agencies have been doing overnight patrols in Washington since last week. Cole said federal officers would be 'embedded' with D.C. police to patrol the streets, but did not offer specific details on what would change in the chain of command. Even so, he described Smith as 'very accommodating' and said she was sharing ideas, giving him an office at police headquarters, and introducing him to staff. 'We have tremendous cooperation, tremendous intel sharing, and what's most encouraging, the police are looking forward to doing their job again,' Cole said in a Fox News interview.

Hulk Hogan's estranged daughter Brooke breaks down in tears amid heartbreak over his sudden death

Hulk Hogan 's estranged daughter Brooke got visibly emotional while out with her family in Orlando on Tuesday night following the recent and sudden loss of her dad. Just weeks after her father died of a heart attack at age 71, the TV personality, 37, looked caught up in grief as tears rolled down her face during a walk with her husband Steven Oleksy and their seven-month-old twins, Oliver and Molly. Oleksy, a retired ice hockey player, sweetly comforted his wife by wrapping his arm around her waist as he pushed their little ones' stroller down the sidewalk. Brooke, who went 'no contact' with both her parents prior to the WWE legend's passing, took a deep breath and placed her hand on his shoulder for support. An insider told TMZ that Brooke 'got emotional seeing the sunset' as it 'reminded her of her father.' 'She was telling her husband how much Hulk would have loved it,' the source claimed. Her latest sighting comes just days after Brooke opened up about her fallout from Hulk and that he never met her children. In an interview with TMZ, Brooke said she was uncomfortable with some of the people in Hulk's entourage, but pointed out that did not include his wife Sky Daily, 46. 'The estrangement is a boundary,' she explained, 'So I didn't like certain people he was around. It wasn't Sky, it was a number of people that I did not trust, that I had seen behavior in, and I said, "Dad, flashing yellow signs." Like, "Hey, this is messed up. Are you going to do anything about it?"' She explained that the six-time WWF champion was 'never alone. He was always with someone.' Brooke added that during one of their last conversations 'he gave the sentiment of like, "Well, I guess you have to live your life and I have to live mine."' 'That was kind of how it was left,' she said. Brooke also described a harsh interaction with her father, which was witnessed by a contractor working on a house for them. 'The contractor texted me — and said, "Are you OK, kid? That hurt me watching what I saw." My dad had become a little bit callous in his old age, and that's OK,' she explained. Oleksy, a retired ice hockey player, sweetly comforted his wife by wrapping his arm around her waist as he pushed their little ones' stroller down the sidewalk. Brooke reiterated several times that she had no issue with Hulk's widow, Sky, but did reveal the Thunder in Paradise star had some reservations about marrying again. 'If I broke up with her, it'd be bad,' he reportedly told Brooke, but when she asked why, he only answered 'I don't wanna get into it.' She said they had respectful disagreements via text regarding whether he should break up with Sky at one point telling her 'Well, I haven't approved of who you've dated.' Brooke revealed she thought his behavior was 'childish' and would make her cry. 'There were hurtful things that he kind of said,' she explained. To honor her father's memory, Brooke and her husband, former NHL star Steven Oleksy, 39, took their babies to the beach. Gene was the late wrestler's middle name. 'Daddy, we honored you in the simplest way that agreed with my soul. We took our babies to the beach, and put them in the same salty waters you loved,' she shared in an emotional post on social media. Brooke and Olesky married in a private ceremony in Orlando in June 2022. Her father was not in attendance. Earlier this month, Brooke's husband told People he remained in contact with Hulk and says he reached out 'about a month and a half' after their twins were born in January. 'I sent text messages once again to kind of gauge where he was at, but there was no interest,' he claimed. Reports back in April claimed that Oleksy had made several failed attempts to 'foster peace' with the wrestling legend. Oleksy continued: 'She [Brooke] was there for every surgery leading up to the last two years. She would fly down on her own dime, take care of her dad, and it just made a lot of sense. 'No one understood his body, procedures, medications and everything else more than my wife,' he said. Hulk welcomed Brooke as well as son Nick, 35, with ex-wife Linda - whom he was married to from 1983 to 2009. He later tied the knot with Jennifer McDaniel in 2010 until their divorce in 2021. Two years later, the WWE legend said 'I do' to Sky and the pair were married up until his death. Brooke and her father last spoke nearly two years ago in September 2023 only weeks before he married Sky. On that call, Brooke expressed love and concern for her father - telling him that he shouldn't be working so hard due to his declining health. Despite her pleas for him to enjoy more of his life, those requests fell on deaf ears. The pair didn't speak again.

Trump says he will host Kennedy Center awards and rejected liberal artists

Donald Trump announced on Wednesday that he will host the Kennedy Center honors this year and said he had been heavily involved in choosing who to nominate, rejecting people he thought were too liberal. The US president named actor Sylvester Stallone, singer Gloria Gaynor, the rock band Kiss, country music star George Strait and actor and singer Michael Crawford among the first batch of Kennedy Center honors nominees since he took over as the Washington-based arts center's chairman upon returning to the White House this year. The president typically attends the annual honors event each December but sits in the audience as a VIP and hosts a reception for awardees at the White House. Trump's announcement that he will host the event is a break from tradition, although no details were released on what form that would take. His announcement continues his push to exert authority over US cultural institutions, such as the Smithsonian, and Democratic-led cities and came on the first full day that federalized national guard troops were on duty on the streets of Washington by order of the president. Trump has cited a crisis of crime and homelessness in the nation's capital to sharp criticism from opponents. In an appearance at the arts center on Wednesday morning, Trump also said that he intends to 'fully renovate' the entire infrastructure of the Kennedy Center to make it a 'crown jewel' of arts and culture in the US. 'We're going to bring it to a higher level than it ever hit,' the president said, adding the venue would be featured in next year's celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the founding of the United States of America. Trump said he had been invited to host the Kennedy Center honors and had reluctantly agreed. Trump avoided the Kennedy Center awards during his first term after artists said they would not attend out of protest. After taking over as the chairman this year he fired the board of trustees and replaced it with loyalists amid an overhaul of the venue's offerings. In March, the producers of the rap musical Hamilton pulled out of staging their Broadway hit, citing Trump's aggressive takeover of the institution's leadership. In a Truth Social post on Tuesday, Trump had teased a name change for the center, formally the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, and said it would be restored to its past glory. 'GREAT Nominees for the TRUMP/KENNEDY CENTER, whoops, I mean, KENNEDY CENTER, AWARDS,' Trump wrote. He said work was being done on the site that would bring it 'back to the absolute TOP LEVEL of luxury, glamour, and entertainment'. 'It had fallen on hard times, physically, BUT WILL SOON BE MAKING A MAJOR COMEBACK!!!' he wrote. He did not announce a name change during his appearance later on Wednesday. House Republicans added an amendment to a spending bill Trump signed into law in July to rename the Kennedy Center Opera House after Melania Trump, but that venue has yet to be renamed. Maria Shriver, a niece of the late President Kennedy, a Democrat, has criticized as 'insane' a separate House proposal to rename the entire center after Trump. Trump said he was 'about 98% involved' in choosing the honorees this year. He added that he 'turned down plenty' of names, saying those individuals were 'too woke' or too liberal. He described the artists he announced on Wednesday, including several of his favorites, as 'great people'. Historically, a bipartisan advisory committee selects the recipients, who over the years have ranged from George Balanchine and Tom Hanks to Aretha Franklin, Joni Mitchell and Stephen Sondheim. In the past, Trump has floated the idea of granting Kennedy Center honors status to singer-songwriter Paul Anka and Stallone, one of three actors Trump named as Hollywood ambassadors earlier this year. Anka was supposed to perform My Way at Trump's first inaugural and backed out at the last moment. The Kennedy Center honors were established in 1978 and have been given to a broad range of artists.
