Parkinson's disease charities praise Ozzy Osbourne's openness about condition
The proceeds of the Black Sabbath reunion earlier this month went to Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham Children's Hospital and Acorns Children's Hospice.
In 2020, Osbourne revealed he had been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and he paused touring in 2023 after extensive spinal surgery.
He had a fall at home in 2019 which aggravated injuries from a near-fatal quad bike crash in 2003.
Parkinson's UK chief executive Caroline Rassell said: 'News of Ozzy Osbourne's death, so soon after his celebratory homecoming show, will come as a shock to so many.
'By speaking openly about both his diagnosis and life with Parkinson's, Ozzy and all his family helped so many families in the same situation.
'They normalised tough conversations and made others feel less alone with a condition that's on the rise and affecting more people every day.
'All of our heartfelt thoughts are with his family, friends and fans worldwide. His memory and the impact he left on the world will live on in all of them.'
Helen Matthews, chief executive of Cure Parkinson's, said: 'We are devastated to hear the news about Ozzy and all our thoughts are with Sharon and his family.
'It seems incredible that a couple of short weeks ago Ozzy, Black Sabbath and all the acts that contributed to Back to the Beginning produced the most phenomenal and vibrant concert at Villa Park.
'We are so grateful to Ozzy for all he has done to put a spotlight on the work of Cure Parkinson's, Birmingham children's Hospital and Acorns Children's Hospice.
'On behalf of us all at Cure Parkinson's – thank you.'
Osbourne said earlier this year that the last six years had been 'full of some of the worst times I've been through'.

The 72-year-old was supported by Kelly, Jack and Aimee and thousands of devoted fans as the funeral procession made its way down Birmingham's Broad Street. Ozzy and Sharon's eldest daughter is a singer who releases music under the name ARO, the Mirror reports. She was born in London in 1983 and previously lived with her famous family in California, where they filmed their iconic show, The Osbournes. Aimee was aged 16 when filming began and chose to move out of the family home as she didn't want to take part in the reality series. She told the Independent in 2015: "Back then, I still felt I was trying to figure out who I was in the chaos of family life. "So why on earth would I want that portrayed on television? I wanted to protect myself, my parents, my siblings, too. They were very young, very impressionable." In 2020, Sharon explained that she understood Aimee's decision to not appear on the show. Speaking on The Talk, she said: "We had about 30 crew, 24 hours a day. The house wasn't a home any more, it was a studio, so I get why she didn't like it." In terms of Aimee's relationship with her siblings, Kelly opened up about their relationship and in 2021 said: "We don't talk". Talking on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast, Kelly explained: "We're just really different. She doesn't understand me and I don't understand her." Speaking to Clevelan d in 2021, Aimee, who released her debut album Vacare Adamaré in 2020, opened up about her love for music. She said: "I started writing, secretly, as a teenager. I also would write a lot of poetry - I was always creative in that way, less academically inclined. "My parents overheard me kind of singing in my room. It was a friend of my parents who said, 'Oh, you should come and stay with me and work with some producers and see what happens'." It's believed that Aimee lives in Los Angeles, where she recently listed her stunning mid-century home for a whopping $4.4 million (£3.3 million). In a selfless final act for her father, the rarely-seen sister is set to start in a new documentary about rock legend Ozzy. Aimee will feature alongside her mum Sharon and siblings Jack and Kelly in the upcoming full-length film dedicated to the Prince of Darkness. Titled Ozzy Osbourne: No Escape From Now, the documentary is slated for release later this year. Meanwhile, his family accompanied the procession in a car. In moving scenes, the procession stopped outside the Black Sabbath bridge, where the frontman's wife and children stepped out of their cars to lay down roses wrapped in black paper among the sea of tributes left by fans. It comes as Sharon Osbourne broke down in tears at Ozzy's funeral in heartbreaking scenes. As she broke down in tears, Sharon was comforted by children Jack, Kelly and Amiee. The grandchildren of Sharon and Ozzy were also close by for the family moment. Lipreader Nicola Hickling revealed what Jack whispered to sister Kelly in order to comfort her during the emotionally-charged day in Birmingham. Nicola told The Mirror US, Jack spoke 10 words to his older sister: "Come on now, Dad wanted us to celebrate his life." Jack and Kelly featured in the reality programme, The Osbournes, on MTV in the early 2000s alongside their parents, bringing them into the spotlight. Sister Aimee didn't want to take part in the show and wanted a private life so left the home at a young age. Sharon moved fans to tears when she emerged during the procession this week. The music manager and talk show host, who was married to the musician for more than four decades, became emotional as she stepped out of a car to view the hundreds of floral tributes and balloons laid around the Black Sabbath bench. The former X Factor judge, 72, was helped out of the first vehicle in the cortege by her and Ozzy's son Jack, who joined her at the event along with their daughters Aimee and Kelly – who all raised their hands in a peace sign while paying their respects. The family members wiped away tears at the bench as they inspected tributes, with members of the crowd shouting 'we love you Ozzy'. Sharon and her children carried a pink rose, wrapped in black paper tied with a purple ribbon, that they laid on top of the many other floral tributes that sat next to a poster of the star, which said 'Birmingham will always love you'. Sharon kissed the flower she was holding before laying it in the middle of the tributes.
