Powerball winning numbers for Aug. 11 drawing: $501 million jackpot
If someone matches all five numbers and the Powerball on Saturday, they can choose a one-time cash payment of $229.5 million.
There have been four Powerball jackpot winners in 2025, most recently on May 31, when a person in California won the $204.5 million prize.
A lucky player in Oregon had the first jackpot-winning Powerball ticket of 2025, netting $328.5 million on Jan. 18. A second jackpot winner matched all six Powerball numbers on March 29, winning $527 million. A third jackpot winner from Kentucky won the $167.3 million prize on April 26.

How to play the Powerball
To play the Powerball, you have to buy a ticket for $2. You can do this at a variety of locations, including your local convenience store, gas station, or even grocery store. In some states, Powerball tickets can be bought online.
Once you have your ticket, you need to pick six numbers. Five of them will be white balls with numbers from 1 to 69. The red Powerball ranges from 1 to 26. People can also add a 'Power Play' for $1, which increases the winning for all non-jackpot prizes.
The 'Power Play' multiplier can multiply winnings by: 2X, 3X, 4X, 5X, or 10X.
If you are feeling unlucky or want the computer to do the work for you, the 'Quick Pick' option is available, where computer-generated numbers will be printed on a Powerball ticket. To win the jackpot, players must match all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball.
Powerball drawings are held on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday nights. If no one wins the jackpot, the cash prize will continue to tick up.

Students from Palisades High start new school at Santa Monica Sears building
After the Palisades Fire tore through their school campus, students from Palisades Charter High School will be starting a new school year at the Santa Monica Sears building. The January wildfire severely damaged parts of the school, leaving students to attend classes online for several weeks before relocating to the vacant Sears building on Colorado Avenue in April. The department store was outfitted with classrooms and learning spaces to allow students to finish the rest of their school year. The school received donations from the community, which included furniture, carpet, paint, air conditioning and internet service. "All of this is so important as we bring everybody back together and try to get back that stability and normalcy that we all need," she told CBS News Los Angeles. The project to relocate an entire high school should've taken years, Magee said. She said she hopes that the school will be able to relocate to its main campus by January. In June, Pali High students celebrated their graduation at the Hollywood Bowl. Students were able to celebrate their big accomplishment and cross the stage after enduring an unimaginable year. All three schools in the Palisades community were burned during the Jan. 7 wildfire. The Los Angeles Unified School District budgeted $600 million-plus towards the rebuilding of the three schools.

Fishing vessel capsizes near Yaquina Bay; 3 rescued, 1 missing
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Three people were rescued by the US Coast Guard after a fishing vessel capsized near the Yaquina Bay jetty, the The three who were rescued from the vessel, Das Bug, were 'transferred to EMS,' officials said, while the search for a fourth person is ongoing.
