Celtic release special Oasis-themed magazine ahead of Murrayfield gigs

Ahead of their series of gigs, Celtic have released a special edition of the 'Celtic View', with the cover a nod to Oasis' 'Definitely Maybe' album cover, which was released in 1994.

Celtic's connection to the band that hails from Manchester goes back several years.
Indeed, Noel visited Parkhead for a Celtic vs Rangers match in 2000 that turned out to be rather iconic, with the hosts running out emphatic 6-2 victors.

"I'm glad I got the chance to see Henrik Larsson score against Rangers when he looked especially cool with the dreadlocks. He scored with a magnificent chip over the keeper's head. Everyone thought the ball was over, even the ball boys, but he was already celebrating.
"My other favourite Celtic player was Kenny Dalglish. He was just a phenomenal footballer. He had the haircut, the big sideboards, the big collared shirts and the number on the shorts. I also liked Charlie Nicholas. Anyone that comes with the prefix Champagne is all right by me."

The manager said he understood the fans' reaction at full time - but was less impressed with the punters jeering the 55th minute introduction of Kieran Dowell. Martin said: 'It's a bit of pain and when you get through that pain, it's so worth it. I don't think I expected anything less coming here, it's not going to be a quick fix. 'This club has not had success for a long, long time. I've been asked about the supporters' reaction and I just don't have a problem because I understand it. 'We are at a point now at this club where something needed to change. The ownership has changed, there's a new coaching staff, there's new players. 'There's hopefully a new way of behaving in the training ground - properly every single day, regarding standards and what's expected at this football club. 'So it's not a quick fix and this is not me coming out and making excuses. I think we change the manager from year to year and nothing really changes. 'So now it's about really changing the culture and the feel of the club day in and day out. 'That will end up in a good outcome. Good process, good people, will always end up in a good outcome. But maybe not so quickly as everyone wants. 'But this year we'll be ready to compete, we'll be ready to win a lot. The culture of the group is changing. And we have to change it as quickly as we possibly can.' Martin filleted his side after last week's draw at Fir Park. But he refused to stick the knife in for a second week. He said: 'We need to tackle, try to penetrate a bit more, a few more runs, put it in the box more. We didn't see that really until we went down to 10 men. 'Then there was a real intent to go forward, play forward, run forward, react properly to losing the ball. 'I think Nico Raskin tackled more when he came on for the last half hour than the whole team in the first 60 minutes. The lack of aggression comes from a bit of tension. It's not a question about the lads' mentality today. 'They only had a few set plays and we have to do much better. That's about being really switched on, being really aggressive.' Dowell's introduction for Mohamed Diomande in the 56th minute brought howls of derision from the home stands - aimed at the player and the manager. But Martin said: 'That surprised me. I'm not on any social media or anything like that, so I don't really know what the narrative is around Kieran. I don't think it helps him, I don't think it helps the rest of the guys. That's how I feel about it really. 'I'm disappointed for Kieran, because what we've seen at the training ground and I speak to everyone there, he's really valued as a person and a character. And he's played out of position for us for three games. 'He's a really good footballer, so I don't know what's gone on before. We're just judging everyone off a clean slate. 'He tries, trains like an absolute beast, which I don't think some people have come to this club and been bought for a lot of money and I don't think they have done that. 'He did a good job for us because we trust him to bring a certain level of intelligence out of position and he'll want to help his team. 'Especially with that reaction, that takes some character and personality. I hope Kieran gets a chance to show what he can do.'

But today his side looked predictable, slow and uninspired for large parts of the game. Martin admitted that with the benefit of hindsight, some rotation may have benefited the squad in terms of bringing some freshness to the team. And he insisted both he, and the players, will learn from the 1-1 draw. Speaking to Premier Sports, he said: "Hindsight is a beautiful thing. You want to keep some consistency, but I probably should have made some changes and put some energy in. "That's my responsibility, but we lacked aggression in big moments, set plays especially, which is disappointing because we've done a lot of work on them, defended them so well on Tuesday night. "And, we just lacked aggression with the ball really. "You can't get bored of doing the right thing all the time and running and moving the ball quickly, it was a bit too slow at times. "There was definitely a lethargy and it's disappointing and frustrating. "We're learning so much about the guys, they're learning so much on the pitch as well about what's important. "Today we're not getting pressed, so it's a completely different challenge for the boys to travel really, really quickly. "And it didn't, but we'll learn from it, it's so early on. "It's a long season, the guys will be better for it for sure, and we just have to keep reminding them what's important all the time." Martin was then asked outright about the ongoing difficulty for Rangers - raising their game in Europe but slacking off domestically. And he is determined to weed out those bad habits and change the players' mindsets. He said: "I've not been here for very long, but I've been told that's gone on for quite some time. "So it's about changing habits, I've spoke about this a lot, and we will, I'm convinced of it. "We're learning all the time about the group, learning about what needs to be expected and put on all the time. "We didn't do it enough today, so when we went down to ten men, there was so much running, so much aggression. "Yes, the opposition had tired at that point, but the ball travelled quicker, we put more crosses in their box, had a bit more intent to actually try and hurt them, and the first half just wasn't enough of that." Boos rung around Ibrox after Don Robertson blew his full-time whistle. And they continued as the team did their post-match pitch walk. While hard to hear, Martin said the supporters are entitled to voice their opinion that way. But he begged them to be patient with his team in what is still a season in its infancy. He said: "I've said it all the way along, supporters are the most important people at every football club. "So, they have every right, but it's a really long season, and this team will grow. "Hopefully, they will be patient with them and grow with them, because we had a great night on Tuesday night, and this is the highs and lows at this football club. "We'll be really consistent with the guys and what's expected, the process, how we behave, how we perform, and we'll get better. "It's early on, I'm really pleased we didn't get beat. "I know that sounds negative, but going down to ten men so early in the game, and then the willingness to drive and then try and win the game, I enjoyed that side. "But we have to play with that mentality all the time." While Martin admitted the supporters had a right to boo at full-time, he did admit to being dismayed with the reaction towards his substitutions - particularly the introduction of Kieran Dowell in the second half. More info The moment an Edinburgh Oasis fan climbed on top of the turnstiles at Murrayfield Stadium was caught on camera. The Britpop group kicked off the first of three gigs in the capital on Friday night with around 70,000 fans in attendance. One fan was caught on top of the entry turnstiles and appears to be having a back and forth with security at the other side. The short clip shows the male scaling the wall while wearing a bucket hat and holding a drink. He starts to shout at the group he is with before throwing his jacket and starting to dance. A crowd of fans, stewards and security guards watched the scene unfold on August 8. Some found the moment amusing with chuckles of laughter heard in the background. The video, shared by shaunvlog, was captioned: "It's all kicking off in Edinburgh outside Oasis with folks scaling Murrayfield security walls." The Gallagher brothers took to the stage on Friday evening and kicked off the gig with hit track Hello. Liam greeted the 70,000 fans in the stadium and said: "We have missed you too". The remark elicited a massive response, with cheers and applause flooding in from the fans. Thousands anticipated the Edinburgh gigs after tickets sold out last year. The current tour which started on Friday, July 4 at Cardiff's Principality Stadium, marked the first time the band had reunited since it disbanded in 2009. Oasis's third Edinburgh gig will take place on Tuesday, August 12.
