Together's Dave Franco Shares Embarrassing Moment From Sixth Standard
Dave Franco's scene in 2007's Superbad led him to face a couple of embarrassing moments.
Dave Franco's performance in the 2007 teen comedy-drama Superbad holds a special place in the hearts of many. However, a hilarious interaction in one particular scene with a co-actor led to a series of embarrassing moments in his life. In a recent interview, the actor reflected on some of these anecdotes.
Franco appeared on the latest episode of the advice and comedy podcast Call Her Daddy, where he recalled those awkward moments linked to his breakout role. The 40-year-old actor even revealed his real name.
Recalling the incident, Franco told host Alex Cooper, 'My real name is David, but no one has ever really called me that," and went on describing the life-changing incident.
Dave Franco Recalls How His Name Was Changed
The Now You See Me star said, 'When I was a kid, my brother had this kid in his class named David that he hated. So he said, 'You're not gonna be named David'," adding, 'That's how I became Davey. And I guess, you know, the people that know me well, most people call me Davey."
Dave Franco Reveals Embarrassing Situations He Faced After Superbad
Franco began his career with small roles in films such as Superbad (2007) and Charlie St. Cloud (2010). However, it was his hilarious interaction with Jonah Hill in the American coming-of-age teen buddy comedy, directed by Greg Mottola, that left a lasting impression on audiences. In the memorable scene, Hill is seen calling out Franco for wetting his pants.
Talking about this scene, he said, 'I had a journey with that scene in and of itself, where I only have a few lines in this movie, but the movie was so big that people did recognize me on the street," adding how this led to a certain revelation in his life, 'And they were yelling at me, 'Why don't you go piss your pants again?' I quickly realised, 'I gotta keep working and get more jobs."
Coming to his real-life embarrassment, Franco also recalled an incident from the sixth standard while he was approaching a crush. 'I was debilitatingly shy. I was the kid who said, like, six words out loud in middle school. I was just so quiet," he said, adding, 'I remember I had a crush on this girl in sixth grade, and I heard that maybe she might sort of be kinda interested, and I was like, 'Okay. I'm gonna seal the deal. I'm going to get her a present.'"
But things didn't go as planned. 'I went to 7/11. I got her a big bag of candy. I come to lunch the next day, and I had this whole thing in my head, was gonna be this big romantic gesture. And when I was confronted with the moment, just the anxiety took over. So what happened was, I saw her from a distance. She was under this tree with her friends, and I started running at her, and when I got close enough, I threw the bag of candy and continued running away without breaking stride," he stated.
Dave Franco was recently seen in his new movie, Together, alongside his wife, Alison Brie. They play a couple in the horror film directed by Michael Shanks and released in theatres on July 30.
