In a statement, the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) has denied and expressed deep regret over a misleading social media post claiming motorcyclists will pay tolls from Oct 2025.
The post, titled "Motorcyclists Can Experience Paying Tolls Starting October 2025", was uploaded by the account ebidmotor on Aug 9, 2025, across Facebook, Instagram and TikTok.
In the statement, LLM said that it contained inaccurate information that could have misled highway users, particularly motorcyclists.
It added that the claim has harmed the reputations of the Government, the Works Ministry, LLM and the concessionaires involved.
LLM then explained that PLUS Malaysia Berhad is currently conducting tests on an open toll system using Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) technology.
'If the test is successful, implementation will be carried out in stages on highways operated by PLUS Malaysia Berhad.
The main objective of this system is to streamline traffic flow, enhance user comfort, and reduce congestion at toll plazas,' said LLM
'There are no changes to the categories of vehicles subject to tolls at this time, including motorcyclists. Therefore, the post uploaded by ebidmotor is untrue, misleading, and can cause unnecessary concern among motorcyclists,' it added.
It then said that the public, especially toll highway users, is urged to not believe or spread false or misleading information.
'Instead, refer to official sources and statements verified by the authorities,' said LLM.
