Users found that ChatGPT wasn't responding to their queries and instead showed an error message.
ChatGPT, the popular AI chatbot by OpenAI, went down for thousands of users across the globe on Tuesday, June 10. Many found themselves unable to access its services due to sudden outages. While the website itself was still opening, users found that the chatbot wasn't responding to their queries and instead showed an error message. The issue didn't just affect ChatGPT, it also impacted Sora, OpenAI's text-to-video platform.
OpenAI acknowledged the problem on its official status page, saying, 'Some users are experiencing elevated error rates and latency across the listed service. We are continuing to investigate this issue." But, the company has not yet explained the reason behind the sudden disruption. 'We are continuing to investigate the issue for the listed services," OpenAI added.
According to DownDetector, which tracks real-time online outages, the issues began around 2:45 PM IST. At its peak, more than a thousand complaints were recorded from different parts of the world. The majority of these complaints were related to ChatGPT service failures at 93 per cent, followed by 7 per cent for the OpenAI app and 1 per cent who had trouble logging in.
The number of complaints peaked at 3:02 PM IST with reports mostly coming from North America, Europe and India.
As expected, the outage triggered a wave of reactions online. Users took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their frustrations, jokes and confusion about the outage. Many posted screenshots of error messages while others joked about being lost without AI assistance.
Another joked, 'ChatGPT is down. Productivity is gone LOL. I forgot how to work without AI."
A person shared a screenshot of a random query they were asking the chatbot and wrote, 'Y'all, I was using ChatGPT for this stupid question, but apparently, it's down. Switching to Google now."

This outage comes just a couple of months after a similar incident in early April. At that time, many users linked the crash to the sudden popularity of a Studio Ghibli-style image generation feature. There was a major spike in usage on April 2 which led to widespread disruptions.

Which secret JFK Files can US make public? Trump's intelligence chief asked AI to answer

US intelligence chief Tulsi Gabbard has revealed that she relied on artificial intelligence (AI) to decide which documents related to the assassination of former President John F Kennedy should be made public and which files should continue to remain classified. read more Tulsi Gabbard might be the US intelligence chief, but it is artificial intelligence (AI) applications that appear to be calling shots. Gabbard on Tuesday said that she relied on AI to tell her which documents in the 'JFK files' should remain classified and which should be made public. In March, the Donald Trump administration released over 2,200 files running into more than 63,000 pages related to the assassination of former President John F Kennedy, who was shot dead on November 22, 1963, during a roadshow in Dallas, Texas. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Speaking at the Amazon Web Services (AWS) conference, Gabbard said that she fed all the documents related to Kennedy's assassination, referred to as JFK files, to assess which documents to make public. 'A couple of examples of the application of AI and machine learning that we've already used in this Director's Initiative Group has been around declassification. We have released thousands, tens of thousands of documents related to the assassinations of JFK and Senator Robert F Kennedy, and we have been able to do that through the use of AI tools far more quickly than what was done previously,' said Gabbard. Gabbard's admission has come at a time when risks related to artificial intelligence (AI) and vulnerabilities related to technology are under increased scanner. Companies owning chatbots or other AI applications, such as OpenAI or DeepSeek, can retain data and files that users feed. If Gabbard has fed data into a private chatbot, all those government secrets are now set to be stored in the chatbot's server or backend. Such irresponsible usage of technology would not be the first in the Trump administration. Earlier this year, it emerged that top officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Defence Secretary Pete Hegseth, and then-National Security Advisor (NSA) Mike Waltz, were discussing top-secret operational plans on messaging application Signal. Even though Trump defended the usage and everyone denied any wrongdoing, Trump later sacked Waltz as NSA. STORY CONTINUES BELOW THIS AD Gabbard further said that the Director's Initiatives Group (DIG), her pet project, is using AI to process open-source information. Gabbard said, 'Ten thousand hours of media content, for example, that normally would take eight people 48 hours to comb through, now takes one person one hour through the use of some of the AI tools that we have here. So, those are a few of many examples that this Director's Initiative Group is focused on. Again, not only for ODNI [Office of the Director of National Intelligence], but really for us to be able to provide these efficiencies and these tools across the entire enterprise.' Gabbard further said that there is now a dedicated chatbot for the US intelligence community that comprises 18 agencies like the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), National Security Agency (NSA), Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), etc.

Google rolls out Android 16: Check what's new, eligible devices and how to update

Google has begun the rollout of Android 16, its latest mobile operating system on Wednesday, starting with supported Pixel devices. The release marks the earliest launch of a major Android version in recent years, with broader availability for other phone brands expected later in 2025. The update introduces a redesigned user experience, laying the groundwork for Google's new Material 3 Expressive design. Among the key changes are streamlined notifications, improved accessibility features, enhanced security options, and expanded productivity tools, particularly for tablets and foldable. One of the prominent features in Android 16 is support for real-time live updates from compatible apps. Designed to minimise the need for users to repeatedly open applications, this function will initially work with select ride-hailing and food delivery apps. Google is collaborating with manufacturers like Samsung, OPPO, and OnePlus to integrate the feature into their own notification systems, including Now Bar and Live Alerts. Additionally, Android 16 introduces automatic grouping of notifications from the same app, aiming to reduce clutter and improve readability. The new version brings meaningful improvements for users with hearing devices. Android 16 now allows individuals using LE Audio hearing aids to switch from the aid's microphone to the phone's microphone during calls — a change expected to improve clarity in noisy surroundings. The update also introduces native control options for hearing devices, enabling users to manage settings such as volume directly from their phone. Security remains a focus in Android 16 with the introduction of Advanced Protection — Google's highest level of mobile protection. The system aims to shield users from threats such as phishing, malicious apps, unsafe websites, and scam calls. Designed for both high-risk individuals and everyday users, the feature can be activated through a single tap in device settings. Google has worked closely with Samsung to implement desktop windowing for Android tablets and foldable devices. This allows users to open, move, and resize multiple app windows on a single screen, mimicking a desktop interface. The feature supplements existing single-app and split-screen modes and is expected to be available later in the year. Other forthcoming features include support for custom keyboard shortcuts and taskbar overflow, designed to improve multitasking on large-screen devices. Android will also begin testing external display connectivity for tablets and phones, enabling users to expand their workspace when required. Android 16 is available immediately for users of Pixel 6 and newer devices, including the Pixel Tablet and Fold models. The software will be delivered via over-the-air (OTA) updates. To upgrade, Pixel users should navigate toSettings > System > Software update, and follow the prompts to install the latest version. OpenAI launches o3-pro model for ChatGPT Pro and Teams users

OpenAI has introduced o3-pro , an AI model that the company says outperforms its previous reasoning model, o3, which was launched in April. In a post on X, OpenAI said, 'In expert evaluations, reviewers consistently prefer OpenAI o3-pro over o3, highlighting its improved performance in key domains—including science, education, programming, data analysis, and writing.' — OpenAI (@OpenAI) by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Petaling Jaya: Unsold Furniture Liquidation 2024 (Prices May Surprise You) Unsold Furniture | Search Ads Learn More Undo 'Reviewers also rated o3-pro consistently higher for clarity, comprehensiveness, instruction-following, and accuracy,' the company added. Starting Wednesday, o3-pro will be available to ChatGPT Pro and Team users, replacing the o1-pro model. Enterprise and Education users will gain access the following week. The model is also live on OpenAI's developer API . Live Events The new model can search the web, analyse files, interpret visual inputs, run Python, personalise responses using memory, and much more. However, there are currently some limitations with o3-pro: It does not support image generation or Canvas. Responses from o3-pro generally take longer compared to o1-pro. The temporary chats option in the model is currently disabled as OpenAI is working to fix a 'technical issue'. According to TechCrunch, OpenAI's AI-powered workspace feature isn't supported by o3-pro yet.
