20 babus shifted in major rejig in TG
Hyderabad: In major reshuffle, the Telangana Government has transferred 20 IAS officers and posted them in different wings on Sunday. Special Chief Secretary to IT and Industries Jayesh Ranjan, MA &UD Secretary Dana Kishore, Tourism Secretary Smita Sabharwal, GHMC Commissioner Ilambarthi among the others were transferred and posted in other departments.
Senior IAS official Jayesh Ranjan, who vied for the Chief Secretary post, has been transferred and posted as Special
Chief Secretary to Government & CEO, Industry & Investment SpecialCell in CMO and Smart Proactive Efficient and Effective Delivery (SPEED).
Sanjay Kumar , the 1995 batch IAS officer and Special Chief Secretary to Labour and Employment, was posted as Special Chief Secretary to Industries & Commerce Departmentand Information Technology.
Jayesh Ranjan was also placed in FAC of the post of Special Chief Secretary to Government, Youth Advancements, Tourism and Culture department and Director,Archaeology.
Ahead of Miss World competition, removal of Smitha Sabharwal as Tourism Secretary assumed significance after her controversial remarks against the government recently. Smitha Sabharwal was posted as Secretary to state Finance Commission.
MA & UD Secretary Dana Kishore was posted as Principal Secretary to Labour, Employment, Training and Factories department. TKSreedevi, Commissioner & Director of MunicipalAdministration, was transferred and posted as Secretary to Municipal Administration (outside HMDA). She is also placed in FAC of the post of Commissioner & Director of Municipal Administration (for Municipalities & Corporations outside ORR).
Shashank Goel, Director General, MCR HRD Institute was transferred and posted as Vice Chairman, Centre for Good Governance. He also placed in FAC of the post of Director General, EPTRI, duly relieving Ahmad Nadeem. GHMC Commissioner Ilambarithi was transferred and posted as Secretary to Metropolitan Area & UrbanDevelopment Department (HMDA limits).RVKarnan, Director, Health & Family Welfare was transferred and posted as Commissioner, GHMC.
KShashanka, Commissioner, State Flagship projects, was transferred and posted as Commissioner, Future City DevelopmentAuthority (FCDA). He will continue in FAC of the post of Director, Mines & Geology.

Telangana HC tells GHMC to decide regularisation plea before demolition of Begumpet building
Hyderabad: Justice T Vinod Kumar of the Telangana high court has directed the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation ( ) to consider an application filed by a woman and her son seeking regularisation of their Begumpet property—constructed in violation of approved building norms—before initiating any demolition. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now The dispute pertains to property bearing Nos. 6-3-1177/A/120 and 6-3-1177/A/104 in BS Maktha, Begumpet, where the petitioners, Cheguri Lakshmi and her son Cheguri Eswar Sai Kishore, constructed a building. The GHMC had granted permission in 2022 for a stilt and two upper floors. However, the petitioners allegedly constructed a ground+4 upper floors along with an additional fifth floor, citing structural stability and Vastu considerations. The matter surfaced after a local resident, P Narender, filed a writ petition alleging illegal construction. In response, the high court, in an order (dated April 18, 2024), directed the GHMC to act against the unauthorised structure. Lakshmi later filed a separate writ petition, arguing that she was not made a party in the earlier case and that she had submitted a regularisation application under section 455A of the GHMC Act, 1955, on June 1, 2024. The GHMC countered that the structure violated the sanctioned plan, setback norms, and other building regulations, and therefore was ineligible for regularisation. While dismissing Lakshmi's plea to set aside the earlier court order, Justice Vinod Kumar held that the petitioners had no legal basis to challenge a previous judicial direction through a fresh writ without first seeking review. He ruled that the earlier high court order remains valid. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now However, the judge directed GHMC to process the petitioner's section 455A application in accordance with the law and in the spirit of the high court's judgment in A Praveen Kumar vs State of Telangana (2023), which held that only constructions adhering to building rules are eligible for regularisation. The court declined to stay demolition but made it clear that no coercive action should be taken until the GHMC decides the pending application. Justice Vinod Kumar also observed that the petitioners had clubbed two plots totalling 400 square yards and constructed well beyond permissible limits, in clear violation of the Telangana Building Rules. The GHMC had earlier issued a speaking order on Oct 3, 2023, declaring the construction illegal—an order the petitioners failed to challenge. The judge concluded by stating that equity does not favour those who openly flout the law.

Nod for 40,000 new eco-friendly autos within ORR limits
Hyderabad: The state govt has relaxed restrictions on new auto-rickshaw permits and announced that 40,000 new electric, LPG, and CNG vehicles will be permitted within Outer Ring Road (ORR) limits. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now According to transport minister Ponnam Prabhakar, this includes 20,000 electric, 10,000 LPG, and 10,000 CNG auto-rickshaws. Until now, there have been restrictions on granting new auto permits within the GHMC limits. However, the govt has now issued a GO allowing new permits, keeping in view both the growing demand for transport and the need to protect the environment, the minister said. He stated that chief minister A Revanth Reddy had taken the decision to permit new auto-rickshaws, which would benefit around 65,000 families. He added that with the city expanding and new residential layouts coming up, ensuring adequate transport facilities has become a priority. Ponnam Prabhakar said permission would also be granted for 25,000 petrol and diesel auto-rickshaws to retrofit their engines with electric, CNG, and LPG.

BJP leader Jagmohan Singh Raju writes to PM Narendra Modi for release of Sikh prisoners
On the 41st anniversary of Operation Bluestar, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) state general secretary and former IAS officer Jagmohan Singh Raju wrote to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, urging him to release Sikh prisoners on humanitarian grounds. Sharing the letter on his Facebook page, Raju said, 'Release Sikh prisoners on humanitarian grounds – put final lid on the Dark Era of 1980s in Punjab (sic).' In the letter penned in Hindi, he wrote: 'Today, June 6, is the day of pain and anger for the Sikh Panth. On this day in 1984, as you uttered in the Parliament, an attack was launched on the highest temporal seat of Sikhs, Akal Takht. You are the first Prime Minister who officially recognised this as an attack on the Akal Takht. Even Sikh PM Manmohan Singh did not have courage to accept this reality.' 'The attack on Akal Takht wounded the Sikh psyche and pride permanently. Due to lack of mature leadership needed to pacify hurt sentiments of Panth, Sikh youths opted for insurgency against this oppression. In revenge, Indira Gandhi, the then PM, was assassinated, followed by Sikh massacre in Delhi…This bloody era eliminated a generation of Sikh youths,' read the letter. 'Modi ji, I humbly request you to reconsider the release of Sikh prisoners on grounds of justice and compassion. They committed the crime because they were enraged over the attack on Golden Temple. They have served the adequate punishment for their offences. Time has come now to show compassion for them,' he wrote Raju unsuccessfully contested the 2022 assembly elections on a BJP ticket from Amritsar East.
