Sharpeville SAPS seek public assistance in locating Mokgele
It is believed that Mokgele, who is considered to be a Lesotho national, can assist the police in an investigation of a murder that occurred on July 16, 2022, where a woman was found dead in her shack at Tshepiso Phase 3, Sharpeville.
Police are pleading with the community that anyone who might have information on the whereabouts of Mokgele to come forward or contact the police on 071 675 7270, 112, 08600 10111 or visit the MySAPS app which can be downloaded on any smartphone. The information will be treated with the utmost confidentiality.

Limpopo police commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe says the swift response from dedicated multi-disciplinary teams prevented potential harm to a kidnapped family of four, who were rescued in the early hours of yesterday morning. Polokwane Review reports that, according to the Limpopo police, a case of kidnapping was reported in Mareseleng village in the Burgersfort policing area after the family – a man, his wife and two minor children – were tied up and forced into their family vehicle. 'Preliminary investigations suggest three armed suspects, dressed in balaclavas, forcibly entered the victims' residence and found the family sleeping in the same bedroom. They threatened the victims, tied them up and kidnapped them, fleeing the scene in the victim's VW Polo hatchback,' provincial police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says. Prompt response and collaboration with a car tracking company led to the rescue of the family at around 06:00 on a farm in the Modjadjiskloof policing area. They were unharmed. Hadebe commends the teams, adding that their swift response disrupted the kidnappers' plans. 'Police investigations continue and we urge anyone with relevant information to assist in apprehending the suspects. The public are advised to contact the investigating officer, Colonel Saleem Wahab, on 082 319 9291 or call the Crime Stop number on 08600 10111. Two guests injured in panga attack at Chamonix Wine Farm in Franschhoek
Police seek information after two guests were attacked by masked robbers at a wine farm in Franschhoek who were armed with pangas. Image: Facebook Two guests in their sixties are recovering after a panga attack and robbery at Chamonix Wine Farm in Franschhoek. Police are appealing for information leading to the arrest of the suspects. It is the second incident in less than eight weeks, after two people were attacked on a private farm in June along the R45 in Franschhoek and escaped with minor to moderate injuries. In the latest incident, which took place on August 2, three masked suspects entered the premises and attacked the two victims in their sixties with a panga and fled with undisclosed items. Police spokesperson, FC van Wyk, said: 'Anyone with information about this incident is kindly requested to contact Crime Stop at 08600 10111 or via the MySAPS App. Information will be treated as highly confidential.' Jacobus MacFarlane, Freedom Front Plus PR councillor for the Stellenbosch Municipality and council member for Pniël and Franschhoek, took to social media where he asked the public to be vigilant. 'On behalf of my constituency, I want to express our strongest condemnation of this senseless act of violence. This is of great concern to Chamonix Estate, as well as the greater Franschhoek and Winelands community. As soon as we became aware of the attack, we deployed all relevant security to assist. The injured guests were stabilised by the paramedics and transferred to a nearby hospital. The one victim had to undergo surgery. Both victims have since been released from hospital. We have been in communication with the family and we are offering any assistance and support they might require. 'As a hospitality venue catering to visitors from around the world, security has always received top priority and various security providers are contracted by us. This includes armed patrols by canine units, tactical support, and drone surveillance in addition to alarms and cameras. Somehow the perpetrators entered the property undetected, leading to this regrettable event of senseless violence. The only relief is that the victims came away with their lives, and it is our wish that the SAPS and necessary parties continue their investigation. Mpumalanga churchgoers robbed at gunpoint, shots fired inside
A group of women are left traumatised after two armed men stormed their church in Mkhuhlu near Hazyview yesterday and robbed them of cash and valuables. Mpumalanga News reports that members of the Pentecost Church were about to pray at 12:40 when the suspects, wearing balaclavas, entered the church. 'The robbers were armed and fired shots into the church ceiling. They demanded cellphones and collected wallets, handbags and vehicle keys. They also took the cash collection, amounting to R1 220, contributed by the church members,' says provincial police spokesperson Brigadier Donald Mdhluli. The suspects fled in a white Toyota Fortuner belonging to a 61-year-old congregant. The vehicle was later found abandoned in Marite Trust, near the Carlton fuel station. Mdhluli says police recovered handbags and car keys from the vehicle, but the stolen cellphones and cash were missing. Several spent cartridges were also found inside the church. No arrests had been made at the time of publication.
