Olly Murs booed by crowd as he makes admission and asks 'shall I go'
Olly Murs was met with boos after an admission during his 15 Years Of Hits tour date in Liverpool on Thursday night, with the X Factor star making an unwise on-stage admission
Olly Murs had the Liverpool crowd eating out of the palm of his hand during a performance at the M&S Bank Arena earlier this week. The 41-year-old chart sensation took his 15 Years Of Hits tour to the docks on Thursday.
After a solid fifteen years since Murs first stepped into the public eye with an X Factor audition that left the nation in awe, he was seen delivering smooth vocals on a rendition of Stevie Wonder's Superstition. From his days winning the hearts of judges and viewers alike, Olly still commands a loyal following.
A sea of the Murs Army filled the Bank Arena as the singer-songwriter commemorated his time in music with a high-spirited country-wide tour. With a repertoire spanning 15 years, it would be simple for Murs to let his well-loved tunes speak for themselves.
At one point in the show, Olly invited his band to "embarrass" him, by projecting an unknown picture in front of the crowd. He told fans: "On this part of the show, I have absolutely no idea what is about to appear on that screen", reports the Liverpool Echo.
His Scouse fans watched on as a photo of Olly touching Liverpool FC's famous This Is Anfield sign prompted a split reaction, as cheers from Liverpool FC fans clashed with boos from Everton supporters. But, Olly swiftly brought all sides together when he disclosed that his loyalties actually lie down the M62, admitting: "Of course, this will probably get the biggest boo of the night. I am a Manchester United fan."
To a cacophony of jesting boos, a chuckling Olly then playfully suggested: "Shall I go?" But the audience clearly wasn't keen on ending the night there – they cheered for him to carry on, leading him into another chart-topping track.
Olly kicked his hit-filled setlist with Troublemaker, serenading them through two hours of his best known songs. The pop sensation turned 41 this Wednesday and marked the occasion by belting out a medley of 80s classics, celebrating the era of his birth.
Having come a long way from his days as a cover singer, Olly had fans ecstatic to hear original hits including Heart Skips a Beat and Wrapped Up, alongside the timeless tunes. The gig took an emotional turn when Olly performed Dear Darling.
The poignant track was dedicated to his late friend and X Factor co-presenter, Caroline Flack. Sharing with the audience, he confessed: "I genuinely think about her every day."
He continued: "I know that feeling of losing someone that you love very much. With this song, I want you to think of those people and sing with me."
As thousands of phones illuminated the arena, fans joined in an unforgettable rendition of the 2012 ballad, creating the night's most memorable moment. While this tour marked his 15-year journey in the music industry, Olly gave his fans a sneak peek into his future plans. He performed his new single, 'Save Me', exclusively for the audience, hinting at what's next for him.
Describing the song as the beginning of a "new Murs era", it's clear from the crowd's reaction that they're excited about what lies ahead. As he exited the stage to thunderous applause, it's evident that his fans are eagerly anticipating more milestones from Olly, who has firmly established himself as a top-notch performer.

X Factor's Aiden Grimshaw looks completely unrecognisable 15 years after starring on the singing show alongside One Direction
X Factor 's Aiden Grimshaw looked completely unrecognisable 15 years after starring on the ITV singing competition. The star, who is now 33, appeared on the show back in 2010 which was the same year One Direction took part - but now looks worlds away from his fresh-faced days on TV. Aiden has continued a career in music and regularly posts singing videos, covers, and updates on Instagram to his 19,000 followers. The Blackpool-born musician has released music under the alias Butterjack and his most recent cover was of French musician Kavinsky's track Nightcall. When on The X Factor, he competed as a solo artist on the same season as 1D, which was eventually won by Matt Cardle. From A-list scandals and red carpet mishaps to exclusive pictures and viral moments, subscribe to the DailyMail's new Showbiz newsletter to stay in the loop. He made it all the way to the live shows and was the the eighth contestant eliminated, earning a record deal with RCA Records after he was voted out in week six. In his audition, he impressed judges with a rendition of Kanye West 's Gold Digger, with no backing track. Aiden looks completely unrecognisable from his X Factor days and is now sporting a bushy moustache. He also swapped his quiff for a floppy, long hairstyle and has upgraded his wardrobe to include more retro fashion. After being eliminated from The X Factor, two years later in 2012 Aiden released his debut single Is This Love which debuted at number 35 on then UK Singles Chart. He continued to find success with his first album Misty Eye, which was also released in 2012 and reached number 19 on the UK Albums Chart. Following a few more projects, he took a break from music before returning in 2015 and then taking on the name Butterjack in 2018. Aiden's departure from The X Factor was a shock one, after he competed against Katie Waissel in the bottom two and the judges vote went do deadlock before going to the public vote. Aiden has continued a career in music and regularly posts singing videos, covers and updates on Instagram to his 19,000 followers The seventh series was won by Matt Cardle, with Rebecca Ferguson runner-up and One Direction third. It comes after Sir Elton John claimed earlier this year that gaining fame from shows like X Factor is ' the worst thing that can happen to you in the music industry'. Instead, the legendary musician suggested new artists 'go and play in a pub' to 'take risks' and get a 'backbone'. In an interview with Rolling Stone, he stressed how important playing live is for musicians. The star admitted then when he played in Musicology, they would sometimes perform to tiny audiences, and no matter how small the crowd, it always helped him improve. He recalled: 'That experience stood me in great stead for when I became Elton John because I had backbone. 'And backbone is so important, because the worst thing that can happen to you in the industry are things like X Factor and instant fame on television where you have no experience of playing live.' Elton said: 'You get put on stage, you go, and you can't do it. That's the worst thing. American Idol - just the worst. Take risks. Go and play in a pub.' However, despite his distaste for musical talent shows, Elton appeared on The X Factor back in 2013 to perform a duet with judge Gary Barlow.

'It would be a statement signing... it's an enormous coup'
German football expert Kevin Hatchard spoke to BBC Radio Merseyside on the prospect of Liverpool signing Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz."The talk [between Liverpool and Leverkusen] is about the fee and the structure of the fee," Hatchard said."It seems Wirtz and Liverpool have agreed personal terms - that's the first building block."The received wisdom in Germany not long ago was that he was going to Bayern. That was the feeling Bayern had, the feeling most people in Germany had but now the feeling is that he really is off to Liverpool and that's that."If Liverpool really do pull this off, I have to say it's a statement signing. It's an enormous coup."But Leverkusen will be very savvy and they know what they have. Double figures in goals and assists in the last two seasons. This is a top, top player who's only 22. Leverkusen know they have the jewel in the crown and they won't give him up easily."There's a manner of things Wirtz could do. He gives you lots of options because wherever he plays – his touch, his intelligence, it's all going to be there. The work rate without the ball is phenomenal and he has the numbers to back it up."Listen to the full discussion on BBC Sounds here

BBC Call the Midwife responds as Olly Rix slams 'disrespectful' departure
BBC Call the Midwife responds as Olly Rix slams 'disrespectful' departure Call the Midwife star Olly Rix previously said he didn't like the way he was treated by bosses after his character was axed from the BBC drama. Since its debut in 2012, the BBC period drama Call the Midwife has seen a revolving door of characters, with Matthew Aylward (played by Olly Rix) emerging as a fan favourite in season 10. His character won hearts, particularly when he began a romance with Trixie (Helen George), culminating in their marriage at the end of season 12. Yet, viewers were left reeling last year when Matthew issued an ultimatum to his new wife to join him in New York following the loss of his inheritance. Following Olly's surprising exit from the show, he was seen joining the cast of another BBC stalwart, Casualty, reports the Express. Olly Rix was a fan-favourite on the BBC show (Image: BBC / Neal Street Productions ) At the time he left Call the Midwife, there were reports that the cast were "stunned and upset" by the decision to axe his character. Article continues below Olly has since opened up about his feelings regarding his departure, admitting to Hello! magazine that he was dissatisfied with how it was handled. He said: "I'm very fortunate. Most jobs, I think of very fondly, but you do, of course, leave them in the past and move on and develop new work. "With that project in particular, I didn't like the way it ended and I didn't think they treated me with much integrity or respect, and I didn't like that. I think it's just best left in the past and not discussed much more." Nevertheless, a spokesperson for Call the Midwife has dismissed any suggestions of mistreatment in relation to Olly's release from the show. Olly left Poplar to start a new life in New York (Image: BBC ) The spokesperson told Metro: "We don't accept this. Call the Midwife is a drama that prides itself on providing a supportive, inclusive and nurturing filming environment, and we are known for the family atmosphere on our set. "Series 15 is currently filming, and we look forward to sharing this exciting new series with our beloved audience." Wales Online has reached out to the BBC for comment The actor has now joined the cast of casualty (Image: BBC ) RadioTimes has suggested that although Olly has departed from Call the Midwife, it doesn't rule out the possibility of his character making a return in future episodes. Meanwhile, the 40-year-old actor has swapped roles, now portraying Flynn Byron in Casualty, a character who seems set to stay for an extended period. Discussing his transition to Casualty, he shared with Hello!: "We've been filming for a year, and you've only had ten episodes. We have 40-something in the bank now. So, Flynn's not going anywhere."
