Olly Murs 'deeply sorry' to cancel Manchester AO Arena show tonight

Olly Murs has been forced to cancel his Manchester show tonight (May 23) due to illness. This comes as the singer was only able to perform six songs on stage in Glasgow last night before having to cancel the remainder of it. He said he is "deeply sorry" to have to cancel his next two shows. Taking to Instagram, Murs has been updating fans and apologised for the shortening of the Glasgow show. He explained that he felt his voice was 'great' despite 'maybe feeling a little bit run down' before the Glasgow show, but that he was struggling with his throat and needed to see a doctor after. The pop singer said he was 'so sorry' about the outcome and said he has 'never done this in 15 years'. Murs' shows, who are with support act Blue, are part of his 15 Years of Hits tour, which celebrates 15 years since he found fame on the X Factor. This morning, fans took to his latest Instagram post to question whether Manchester's show was going ahead due to them needing to travel. One said: 'What's happening for tonight and the weekend? We need updates'. Another agreed, replying: 'Been refreshing for hours for an update lots of us have to travel far for tonight's show so be nice to get an update sooner rather than later'. Others said they had booked hotel rooms and were due to travel to Manchester especially for the event. This Instagram post has since been deleted. Now, the show at Manchester's AO Arena is cancelled, according to Ticketmaster's website. Murs' illness also means Birmingham's show is cancelled tomorrow (May 24) as tickets have been cancelled. Fans have replied to another of the singer's Instagram posts explaining that their tickets have been cancelled. One said: "My tickets for Birmingham have just been cancelled on ticket master". Another commented: "It says cancelled on my Ticketmaster account X". Posting to Instagram this afternoon, Olly wrote: "To everyone in Manchester and Birmingham I'm deeply sorry but I am unfortunately going to have to cancel my shows there this weekend. Recommended reading: Peter Kay says he had 'no choice' but to eject two audience members from show Made In Manchester Festival returning to Bolton next month Two rock bands who play at Bolton pub vying for shot at performing at music festival "I have contracted a respiratory infection and have been instructed to go on a strict 48 hour voice rest by the doctor to ensure no further damage to my vocal chords. "I've been having the best time on this tour and I'm so sorry to let my fans down, I'm hoping to be fighting fit in a few days to finish this amazing 15 year celebratory tour with a bang. "All fans will be refunded directly from their point of purchase. This will happen automatically over the next week. 'I sing my new single on the tour,' Olly tells me with a grin. 'It's called Save Me. 'It's a bold statement but the industry has changed so much with streaming, so with this song I wanted to go back to basics. 'I wanted my fans to hear the song before anyone else. 'It's been nerve-racking because no one has heard but I'm so confident with the song — I wanted to do it. 'It's about going on a night out after having a row with the missus and it goes horribly wrong.' I think Olly's on to a winner with Save Me, as fans went wild as he performed it on Saturday night. In his classic style the beat is catchy and the chorus is infectious, but the single shows off Olly's voice in a way fans might not expect. 'The song is a new Murs era,' Olly adds. 'But I'm secretly excited about it.' Returning to the O2 Arena is a big thing for the star, who points out that it's within this building that he auditioned for The X Factor and got through. Olly Murs reveals he and wife Amelia are expecting their second child as he shares sweet family clip 'It's 15 years ago that I waited from 9am until 9pm to get the nod that I was in to the next round — right here in Zone A. 'My experience of the show was all positive, it changed my life. I had a crash course in how to be a pop star in ten weeks.' On stage Olly is super-charged and puts on a fantastic night out — dancing and thrusting his hips to hits including Army Of Two, Marry Me and Dance With Me Tonight. Going down to the front of the stage, Olly admits he won't be doing an Usher and feeding fruit to his fans, adding: 'We don't have any cherries.' He then borrows the phone of super-fan Helen, from Grays, to film himself singing. The atmosphere inside the show is electric, with Olly telling me: 'I'm an entertainer and I want you to have a good time. 10 Olly said: 'I sing my new single on the tour. 'It's called Save Me' Credit: 10 Olly onstage at the O2 Arena Credit: Getty 'I'd like to think my fans know that when they buy a ticket to come see me, they know what they're getting — fun, music and a laugh. 'There is a trust I will deliver and I think with some artists, you're not sure if they are going to turn up and deliver. 'I'm so boring on tour' 'I think what I've done over the last 15 years is show people that I can entertain. 'I love doing what I do, and you guys are here with me to enjoy it.' To ensure he's on top form, Olly tells me he is incredibly strict with his fitness regime — banning booze from his rider and even refusing to eat unhealthily . . . despite turning 41 last week while on the road. 'I didn't even have a bite of my birthday cake,' Olly says. 10 Olly performs before the Women's FA Cup Final at Wembley Credit: Getty 10 Olly, wife Amelia and baby Madison Credit: instagram/ 'I'm so boring on tour — no desserts or alcohol because it affects the way I perform and train. 'And I want to deliver the best performances. When I first started out I tried to go out in every city, then I realised that just doesn't work.' Part of that sacrifice he makes on tour is leaving his wife Amelia with Olly, who is expecting their second baby, at home with their gorgeous daughter Madison. Olly tells me he's not seen Amelia and Madison for almost four weeks and is reuniting with them today. 'She would come, of course, but on tour I wouldn't be able to spend time with her,' Olly explains. 'She's at home, heavily pregnant and has a 13-month old so it's been hard on her. 'I know I have the most incredible wife, I feel very lucky.' You make your own luck in life, Olly. That's why you've got it in spades. IN the Noughties, Blue were some of the biggest party boys in music. But sitting down with Bizarre as they support Olly on his UK tour, Duncan James reveals he and his bandmates have followed in Olly's footsteps, swapping booze and junk food for a healthy rider. Duncan said: 'We have a dry rider nowadays. We have no alcohol. The most extravagant thing we have now is manuka honey. We all like to have ginger, lemon, honey and mint drinks before a show. We have it every time.' KELLY OSBOURNE has insisted dad Ozzy will be able to perform at his homecoming show in Birmingham follwoing fears his ill health meant he may struggle to return to the UK. 'It is my dad's opportunity to say thank you to everybody that gave him the life and the career. 'And it gives me goosebumps just talking about it because it's his moment to give back and it's not about anything other than his love for his fans. 'I think it's going to be a really magical moment.' Bands including Slayer and Metallica are also booked to perform at the huge concert, which is raising money for charities close to Ozzy's heart. It's going to be one hell of an emotional night. WED? WE'LL JESS HAVE TO WAIT JESSIE J is waiting to marry her basketball star boyfriend Chanan Colman – because she wants their son Sky to be old enough to remember the ceremony. The singer, whose single Living My Best Life was released last Friday, had Sky in 2023. She said: 'I would love to get married when Sky is old enough to know what's happening so that he can be a part of it and enjoy that moment of seeing Mummy and Daddy come together in our love. 'We have a child. I feel like that is the most locked-in that we can feel with each other. 'I'm not proposing though – even though I'm always the one that makes the move.' AS ALEX WARREN prepares to spend a tenth consecutive week at the top of the Official Singles chart with Ordinary, the US singer's Carry You Home looks likely to bounce back in at No 9 – a year after its release. London-born Skye Newman is also looking forward to a big week, with her single Family Matters on course to become the highest new entry at No 10. Although she didn't get the result she might have hoped for, she was beaming and said: 'We have had the best seven months. We have loved every second.' Later, Lauren let her hair down on the dance floor and at one point was part of a conga line. And after Howell urged the DJ to play their entry What The Hell Just Happened?, she ran up on stage and belted out the track – much to the joy of the hundreds of punters still celebrating. Lauren, along with Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele, has handled the whole contest with grace and class – and with new music and a UK tour coming up, I'm excited to see what they do next. Howell was flown out to the massive music contest by top sponsor Royal Caribbean Cruises, who showed their incredible hospitality in Basel. After Austria's JJ triumphed on Saturday night, Eurovision will head there in 2026. Now we have to start the hunt for the next act to take on the contest for us Brits. It's no mean feat. Olly Murs fans boo X Factor legend as he makes cheeky confession

The singer was in good spirits during the show but fans were quick to turn on him after he made a surprise admission while on stage in Liverpool on Thursday evening Olly Murs found himself on the receiving end of boos during a packed concert after making an awkward confession. Even those with limited knowledge of sport could predict he was walking into a bit of a hornet's nest - but it wasn't going to stop him. The pop star decided to reveal his true feelings about a topic dear to him in front of a Liverpool audience, and their reaction was predictable. The Liverpool Echo reported that he had the crowd 'wrapped around his finger' as he brought his 15 Years Of Hits tour to the city's MandS Bank Arena on Thursday. ‌ Thousands of fans filled the venue for the show, which is part of his latest nationwide tour. Ryan Paton, reporting for the Echo, said the X Factor singer "made sure the show felt unique to those there on the night, with enjoyable interactions with the crowd in between his back catalogue of songs." ‌ Fans of pop music know Olly as a cheeky chap who enjoys having a laugh with his audience - which led to the moment in question. Olly allowed a long-standing band member to "embarrass" him on stage by sharing a photo from his career. Olly informed the crowd: "On this part of the show, I have absolutely no idea what is about to appear on that screen.", reports Wales Online. The chosen photo showed him touching the This Is Anfield sign at Liverpool FC's home ground. Olly laughed, probably anticipating what was coming next. As the image appeared on a large screen, it divided the audience. Liverpool supporters cheered loudly, but Everton fans in the crowd booed. Olly Murs then faced a playful backlash from the audience when he revealed his football allegiance, saying: "Of course, this will probably get the biggest boo of the night. I am a Manchester United fan." The singer couldn't help but laugh as the crowd responded with jeers, prompting him to quip: "Shall I go?" Despite the ribbing, Olly is well-known for his devotion to Manchester United, and the concert carried on with the crowd enjoying his chart-topping tunes. He also shared that he had just celebrated his 41st birthday on Wednesday by performing a medley of 80s classics, honouring the era of his birth. A poignant moment occurred during the gig when Olly performed 'Dear Darling' in tribute to his late X Factor co-host Caroline Flack. He expressed to the audience: "I genuinely think about her every day. "I know that feeling of losing someone that you love very much. With this song, I want you to think of those people and sing with me." In a touching scene, fans lit up their phones and joined in singing, creating what Ryan at The Echo described as "the standout moment of the evening".
