Olly Murs 'deeply sorry' to cancel Manchester AO Arena show tonight
Olly Murs has been forced to cancel his Manchester show tonight (May 23) due to illness.
This comes as the singer was only able to perform six songs on stage in Glasgow last night before having to cancel the remainder of it.
He said he is "deeply sorry" to have to cancel his next two shows.
Taking to Instagram, Murs has been updating fans and apologised for the shortening of the Glasgow show.
He explained that he felt his voice was 'great' despite 'maybe feeling a little bit run down' before the Glasgow show, but that he was struggling with his throat and needed to see a doctor after.
The pop singer said he was 'so sorry' about the outcome and said he has 'never done this in 15 years'.
Murs' shows, who are with support act Blue, are part of his 15 Years of Hits tour, which celebrates 15 years since he found fame on the X Factor.
This morning, fans took to his latest Instagram post to question whether Manchester's show was going ahead due to them needing to travel.
One said: 'What's happening for tonight and the weekend? We need updates'.
Another agreed, replying: 'Been refreshing for hours for an update lots of us have to travel far for tonight's show so be nice to get an update sooner rather than later'.
Others said they had booked hotel rooms and were due to travel to Manchester especially for the event.
This Instagram post has since been deleted.
Now, the show at Manchester's AO Arena is cancelled, according to Ticketmaster's website.
Murs' illness also means Birmingham's show is cancelled tomorrow (May 24) as tickets have been cancelled.
Fans have replied to another of the singer's Instagram posts explaining that their tickets have been cancelled.
One said: "My tickets for Birmingham have just been cancelled on ticket master".
Another commented: "It says cancelled on my Ticketmaster account X".
Posting to Instagram this afternoon, Olly wrote: "To everyone in Manchester and Birmingham I'm deeply sorry but I am unfortunately going to have to cancel my shows there this weekend.

CCV Group Invests in Rezonate to Redefine the Future of Music Royalties for Producers and Creators
United Kingdom, June 6, 2025 -- CCV Group ( ), a venture capital firm focused on the intersection of culture, media, and technology, is proud to announce a strategic investment in Rezonate, a pioneering rights platform reshaping how music producers and back-end creators monetize their work. Founded by acclaimed producer Cam Blackwood and former investment banker Tom Tyler, Rezonate is building a new asset class by acquiring and managing royalty streams from music producers, engineers, and other behind-the-scenes talent. The company leverages cutting-edge data and rights tracking to ensure transparency, equity, and long-term value in an industry that has historically undervalued these contributors. Rezonate is also backed by Bridgepoint, one of Europe's most experienced credit managers, which in June announced the provision of up to $150 million worth of capital to accelerate the platform's growth and fuel a pipeline of high-profile producer catalogue acquisitions. Today's investment will accelerate Rezonate's growth across Europe and the U.S., scale its acquisition pipeline, and further build out its proprietary platform for rights management. John Darling, CEO of CCV Group, said: 'We believe the next wave of cultural value will be built on infrastructure that respects and empowers creators. Rezonate is unlocking a hidden layer of music IP—bringing transparency, liquidity, and dignity to the producers and engineers who shape the sound of generations. This is exactly the kind of cultural infrastructure we're here to back.' Cam Blackwood, Producer and Co-founder of Rezonate, said: 'For years, producers and engineers have shaped iconic records without sharing in their long-term value. Rezonate is about fixing that—giving creative professionals the financial tools and recognition they've always deserved. We're thrilled to have CCV's support as we scale this mission globally.' Tom Tyler, Co-founder of Rezonate, said: 'We're building an institutionally credible, data-led platform that can manage and grow the royalty income of the music industry's unsung heroes. With CCV's investment, we're not just gaining capital we're gaining a partner that understands the long-term thesis around creator-led IP.' This partnership signals a broader shift in the music rights landscape. While most funds focus on front-facing artist catalogs, Rezonate is leading a new movement focused on backend creators those who've traditionally had fewer paths to liquidity or legacy building. Scott Joplin's ‘Bethena': The Syncopated Sound of Sorrow
When I first heard Scott Joplin's 'Bethena,' I was a college freshman and my friend Robert was playing it on the piano in a common room. The college's century-old Steinway was appallingly out of tune, and the performance was periodically interrupted by peals of laughter from the adjoining dining hall. I was nonetheless captivated by the strange emotional intensity of this music. It had the intimate, narrative, singable style of a Chopin waltz, with an occasional jazzy minor seventh that marked it as a later creation. But unlike the openly emotive Chopin, this music led separate outer and inner lives. Its exterior was placid, untroubled, matter-of-fact. But in its moments of translucence that exterior was revealed as a mask for a deep melancholy, a melancholy made more agonizing by its inexpressibility. This piece was a dark embodiment of the tensions inherent in ragtime. What is ragtime? It was an age, for one thing: the time from about 1895 to 1915 when black and white American music cultures began to mix on a national scale. During this era, black musicians for the first time rose to become superstars. As they did, the lines dividing musical genres, and the social rules demarcating which genres were appropriate for which venues and for which kinds of people, began to blur. The sounds of ragtime, which in the 1890s could be found only in the brothels and dive bars of St. Louis and Kansas City, would be played for first-class passengers as the Titanic foundered in April 1912.
