Olly Murs reveals new single Save Me as he admits real reason he's banned booze from tour

The Sun18-05-2025
TAKING me backstage at London's O2 Arena to celebrate his 15th sold-out show there, Olly Murs is on top form.
The Troublemaker singer is in the middle of his massive 15 Years Of Hits tour, which celebrates his incredible pop career that has seen him bag eight Top Ten singles, including four No1s.
But fans heading to Olly's shows, which last night saw him playing to a packed out crowd at Wembley's OVO Arena after he performed at the women's FA Cup Final next door, are in for a very big surprise.
'I sing my new single on the tour,' Olly tells me with a grin. 'It's called Save Me.
'It's a bold statement but the industry has changed so much with streaming, so with this song I wanted to go back to basics.
'I wanted my fans to hear the song before anyone else.
'It's been nerve-racking because no one has heard but I'm so confident with the song — I wanted to do it.
'It's about going on a night out after having a row with the missus and it goes horribly wrong.'
I think Olly's on to a winner with Save Me, as fans went wild as he performed it on Saturday night.
In his classic style the beat is catchy and the chorus is infectious, but the single shows off Olly's voice in a way fans might not expect.
'The song is a new Murs era,' Olly adds. 'But I'm secretly excited about it.'
Returning to the O2 Arena is a big thing for the star, who points out that it's within this building that he auditioned for The X Factor and got through.
Olly Murs reveals he and wife Amelia are expecting their second child as he shares sweet family clip
'It's 15 years ago that I waited from 9am until 9pm to get the nod that I was in to the next round — right here in Zone A.
'My experience of the show was all positive, it changed my life. I had a crash course in how to be a pop star in ten weeks.'
On stage Olly is super-charged and puts on a fantastic night out — dancing and thrusting his hips to hits including Army Of Two, Marry Me and Dance With Me Tonight.
Going down to the front of the stage, Olly admits he won't be doing an Usher and feeding fruit to his fans, adding: 'We don't have any cherries.'
He then borrows the phone of super-fan Helen, from Grays, to film himself singing.
The atmosphere inside the show is electric, with Olly telling me: 'I'm an entertainer and I want you to have a good time.

'I'd like to think my fans know that when they buy a ticket to come see me, they know what they're getting — fun, music and a laugh.
'There is a trust I will deliver and I think with some artists, you're not sure if they are going to turn up and deliver.
'I'm so boring on tour'
'I think what I've done over the last 15 years is show people that I can entertain.
'I love doing what I do, and you guys are here with me to enjoy it.'
To ensure he's on top form, Olly tells me he is incredibly strict with his fitness regime — banning booze from his rider and even refusing to eat unhealthily . . . despite turning 41 last week while on the road.
'I didn't even have a bite of my birthday cake,' Olly says.

'I'm so boring on tour — no desserts or alcohol because it affects the way I perform and train.
'And I want to deliver the best performances. When I first started out I tried to go out in every city, then I realised that just doesn't work.'
Part of that sacrifice he makes on tour is leaving his wife Amelia with Olly, who is expecting their second baby, at home with their gorgeous daughter Madison.
Olly tells me he's not seen Amelia and Madison for almost four weeks and is reuniting with them today.
'She would come, of course, but on tour I wouldn't be able to spend time with her,' Olly explains.
'She's at home, heavily pregnant and has a 13-month old so it's been hard on her.
'I know I have the most incredible wife, I feel very lucky.'
You make your own luck in life, Olly. That's why you've got it in spades.
IN the Noughties, Blue were some of the biggest party boys in music.
But sitting down with Bizarre as they support Olly on his UK tour, Duncan James reveals he and his bandmates have followed in Olly's footsteps, swapping booze and junk food for a healthy rider.
Duncan said: 'We have a dry rider nowadays. We have no alcohol. The most extravagant thing we have now is manuka honey. We all like to have ginger, lemon, honey and mint drinks before a show. We have it every time.'
KELLY OSBOURNE has insisted dad Ozzy will be able to perform at his homecoming show in Birmingham follwoing fears his ill health meant he may struggle to return to the UK.
He will take to the stage with the original Black Sabbath line-up for a historic rock music event at Villa Park on July 5.
10
Speaking at the Race To Erase MS Gala in Los Angeles, Kelly said: 'He's working out every day. He's getting stronger every day and he is ready for this. I do think this is going to be the final one.
'It is my dad's opportunity to say thank you to everybody that gave him the life and the career.
'And it gives me goosebumps just talking about it because it's his moment to give back and it's not about anything other than his love for his fans.
'I think it's going to be a really magical moment.'
Bands including Slayer and Metallica are also booked to perform at the huge concert, which is raising money for charities close to Ozzy's heart.
It's going to be one hell of an emotional night.
WED? WE'LL JESS HAVE TO WAIT
JESSIE J is waiting to marry her basketball star boyfriend Chanan Colman – because she wants their son Sky to be old enough to remember the ceremony.
The singer, whose single Living My Best Life was released last Friday, had Sky in 2023.
She said: 'I would love to get married when Sky is old enough to know what's happening so that he can be a part of it and enjoy that moment of seeing Mummy and Daddy come together in our love.
'We have a child. I feel like that is the most locked-in that we can feel with each other.
'I'm not proposing though – even though I'm always the one that makes the move.'
AS ALEX WARREN prepares to spend a tenth consecutive week at the top of the Official Singles chart with Ordinary, the US singer's Carry You Home looks likely to bounce back in at No 9 – a year after its release.
London-born Skye Newman is also looking forward to a big week, with her single Family Matters on course to become the highest new entry at No 10.
REMEMBER MONDAY put in a stellar effort for the UK at Eurovision, even if they did end up in 19th place because the miserable Europeans gave them nul points in the public vote.
And they made me even more proud to be British when the band's Lauren Byrne was the last star standing out of all 26 acts after the grand final – partying hard until 6am.
10
Despite having had to be up at the crack of dawn on Saturday for rehearsals, their team put on a private reception at a local pub in Basel following the contest, and when that finished Lauren carried on.
She arrived at Euroclub – a pop-up Eurovision-themed nightclub in the city – just before 5am with several other members of the UK delegation, where she partied for another hour with Bizarre's Howell.
Although she didn't get the result she might have hoped for, she was beaming and said: 'We have had the best seven months. We have loved every second.'
Later, Lauren let her hair down on the dance floor and at one point was part of a conga line.
And after Howell urged the DJ to play their entry What The Hell Just Happened?, she ran up on stage and belted out the track – much to the joy of the hundreds of punters still celebrating.
Lauren, along with Holly-Anne Hull and Charlotte Steele, has handled the whole contest with grace and class – and with new music and a UK tour coming up, I'm excited to see what they do next.
Howell was flown out to the massive music contest by top sponsor Royal Caribbean Cruises, who showed their incredible hospitality in Basel.
After Austria's JJ triumphed on Saturday night, Eurovision will head there in 2026.
Now we have to start the hunt for the next act to take on the contest for us Brits. It's no mean feat.
BELLA HADID enjoyed the sweet smell of success as her pals turned out to help celebrate the London launch of her new perfume .
The US model held a posh party at the Sessions Arts Club in Mayfair to show off Orebella, which comes in four different scents.
10
On hand to DJ was Romeo Beckham's girlfriend Kim Turnball, who belted out hits for celebs including Mary Charteris, Charli Howard and ex-EastEnders actress Tilly Keeper, who is making her way in Hollywood after quitting Albert Square five years ago.
Bella's party was certainly more glam than the 'Enders green room in Elstree.

Why the beach is the new red carpet... for It-bags

For most women, the prospect of possessing a £35,000 handbag is a glorious pipe dream. But if they did own such an expensive item, they'd likely treat it with care – particularly if it was a Hermes Kelly. Like its close relation the Birkin, which was designed much later in 1984, the Kelly (named after actress Grace Kelly) is one of the most coveted and hard-to-purchase handbags in the pantheon, on whose waiting lists even the wealthiest customers can languish for years. Were they ever fortunate enough to have a fabled Kelly, you'd best believe they'd treat it with more deference than their pet – and possibly even their children. They might take it to a cafe, but it would have its own chair to avoid blemishing its pristine leather underside. What they certainly wouldn't do is take it to a beach. Unless, that is, they are Kate Moss. The 51-year-old supermodel was recently spotted in Ibiza, blithely walking across the sand toting a brown leather Kelly, as though cheap local basket bags didn't exist and the trend for cloth bags-for-life never happened. Dressed in a beige bikini, a white peasant blouse, oversized sunglasses and a slew of chunky bangles, Moss looked like any other holidaymaker – bar her fiendishly expensive arm candy. But Moss is just the latest in a long line of celebrities who seem to have repurposed Churchill's famous war cry and made it into their own. Indeed, when it comes to designer handbags, 'We will flaunt them on the beaches!' is shaping up to be something of a summer mantra. Whisper it, but the ultimate status symbol isn't a gym-honed body or a subtle facelift: it's an expensive handbag that you're willing to trash. No matter that sand is a ruinously abrasive substance that will scratch its delicate leather hide and leave gritty residues in each of its corners – you have hundreds more handbags at home, and can afford to ruin one or two so long as it means your gloopy, greasy SPF30 is carried in fine style. As for which four-figure tote to choose, opinion – and taste – is divided. Model and actress Emily Ratajkowski favours a large Gucci Giglio tote, costing £1,600, in highly stainable monogrammed canvas. Actress Dakota Johnson, 35, raises the stakes even higher with a bamboo-handled eau de nil shopper from Gucci's autumn/winter 2025 collection that isn't even available to buy yet. For the singer Dua Lipa, 29, it's a £4,930 Chanel 25 handbag in gold, a popular choice thanks to its slouchy silhouette and numerous pockets. Other celebrities carrying expensive leather bags on their seaside holidays include sisters Kendall and Kylie Jenner, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Naomi Campbell, whose tiny white Hermes Birkin would struggle to fit a smartphone, never mind a towel. Last week, Lauren Sanchez Bezos, 55, was seen tottering along a pebble beach in Ibiza wearing sky-high heels, a white crochet dress and a cream Schiaparelli Mini Bijoux Secret bag worth £5,000. This summer she's also been spotted holidaying with a £15,000 Lady Dior Mini, as well as a tan suede Anahi bag by Isabel Marant, worth £890. Margot Robbie has traded filming Wuthering Heights on the bleak Yorkshire moors for the sunny Balearic islands with a La Croisiere model Clearly, this is small change to the newly minted Mrs Bezos. When you are married to one of the world's richest men, it wouldn't do to rock up to the beach with a tatty wicker basket. While practicality and fashion have never been cosy bedfellows, it's especially puzzling to put your soggy swimsuit into a heavy leather tote given designers have been offering holiday-friendly wardrobes ever since the advent of their Cruise collections. It was Coco Chanel who first introduced Cruise (also known as 'resort') in 1919, designing capsule collections of light dresses and knits for wealthy clients who would holiday in Biarritz. In the intervening years, the Cruise collections have only grown in size and prominence – as has the choice of beach bags offered by luxury brands keen to cash in on vacation style. Rare is the designer who doesn't offer a wicker beach bag emblazoned with its logo, the most popular of which, Loewe's £775 Anagram tote, is as ubiquitous a sight in St Tropez, Marbella and Ibiza as an Aperol Spritz (and only marginally less of a summer cliche). Which is probably why the chicest vacationers have swapped stiff straw for slouchier raffia. The actress Margot Robbie, 35, was recently spotted in Ibiza with a £560 circular La Croisiere bag by cult French label Jacquemus. Meanwhile, Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara, 53, has sported a £4,120 raffia Icare bag, by Yves Saint Laurent, this summer. While they may be only marginally more affordable than their wintery leather counterparts, at least these summer bags are lighter to carry and more forgiving of stains. Then again, when even Jane Birkin used her namesake Hermes bag to carry everything from nail clippers to nappies, perhaps its natural evolution is to be worn insouciantly on a beach.

Celebrity SAS viewers slam lying recruit kicked out for 'cutting corners'

Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins viewers have slammed a recruit after he was told his 'integrity and honesty stinks'. Last month the Channel 4 reality show returned to screens – welcoming 14 new famous faces who are put through their paces to try and achieve SAS selection. This year's line-up has included S Club's Hannah Spearritt, X Factor's Lucy Spraggan, Love Island stars Tasha Ghouri, Chloe Burrows and Adam Collar, Drag Race's Bimini and The Traitors winner Harry Clark. Along the way several have voluntarily withdrawn, but on tonight's episode Harry left both the Directing Staff and viewers enraged after he was caught 'cutting corners' and lying. During a challenge the group were tasked with doing 20 burpees, however it was quickly noticed that Harry had only bothered to do half. So far on the show the former British Army engineer, who left the forces two months before filming on SAS began, had only passed one challenge. When being interrogated at the end of the episode the 24-year-old was called out for his shady actions by Chief Instructor Billy Billingham and Foxy (Jason Fox). The pair had been going through the day's events, when it was raised that Harry had failed in leading his team. They went on to say he was 'bluffing' things and had also lied about doing the burpees required of him. 'His integrity and honesty stinks to a point of it being unacceptable,' Billy declared. Harry was then hauled in to meet with the DS after they reviewed footage that proved he'd not completed the exercise task. He was then asked about being a team player and if he 'cut corners', claims he denied. The DS then made him watch the footage himself and count out the number of burpees he'd done in total. The reality star then claimed he'd stopped early because he was 'slow and letting his team down' – a response that enraged Foxy. 'Are you trying to pull the wool over my eyes? I asked you to do 20. You've just sat there as an ex-military man and spoken about honesty, integrity and how you do your best and don't cut corners. Do you think I'm an idiot,' he said. Slamming the table and making Harry flinch, Foxy told Harry to be honest, before he and Billy called in the guard. Harry was then made to stand in front of his fellow recruits and admit his deception, before he was ordered to hand in his armband and was kicked off the show. Soon after, many viewers weighed in on what had unfolded. 'That is a humiliating way for Harry to leave. Making him count when both he and they know he'd cheated was a masterstroke,' Charlotte posted on X. Adebayo 'The Beast' Akinfenwa- footballer Troy Deeney- footballer Conor Benn- boxer Louie Spence- reality star Tasha Ghouri- Love Island and Strictly Come Dancing star Harry Clark- The Traitors winner Hannah Spearritt Rebecca Loos- former glamour model Chloe Burrows- Love Island star Bimini- Drag Race star Michaella McCollum- author Lady Leshurr- rapper Lucy Spraggan – X Factor star Adam Collard- Love Island star 'So, Harry got his programmes mixed up…Traitors you lie to win…SAS not so much,' Katie quipped. 'Ironic, the very skill that won Harry the whole game on The Traitors was his entire downfall on SAS,' Kirsty shared. 'Harry is unbelievable – still trying to cover his tracks even after being found out! Thought Billy and Chris were going to explode!' Angela added. Others called it 'harsh but fair' to boot him. Seemingly not concerned about what he'd been caught doing, on Monday Harry posted a video of himself exercising on Instagram, writing: 'Practicing my burpees because apparently I can't do them.' Speaking ahead of the show premiering, Harry said he signed up to 'test' himself'. However, when asked to sum up his experience on the show, he explained: 'It was confusing because the course broke me physically and mentally. But that was actually the kick I needed and the experience I needed at that time. More Trending 'It was definitely a growing point for me. That's what I've matured from, what's taught me that not everything goes perfectly to plan. 'So yeah, I would say it's confusing because of the amount of emotions I felt. I felt every single emotion you can feel from a TV show, on that course!' After deceiving his way through The Traitors, Harry took home £95,150 in the 2024 season of the BBC game show. The Chase star Mark Labbett's ex Hayley Palmer breaks her silence on his Celebs Go Dating stint as new series launches

THE Chase star Mark Labbett's ex-girlfriend Hayley Palmer has broken her silence on his Celebs Go Dating stint. Quiz titan Mark, 59, is looking for love on popular E4 show Celebs Go Dating. 4 4 4 Unlike his co-stars, Mark joins later in the series - and was absent from the first episode. He previously dated presenter Hayley Palmer from 2023 until splitting in 2024. Speaking to the Daily Mail , the 44-year-old gave her verdict on her Mark's search for new love. Although wishing her ex well, Hayley said she did not intend on watching him in the E4 show. She added: "A year later, I've been able to turn past trauma into something positive. "I feel like I've done a lot of glowing up. I am in a really strong, happy place. Feeling very grounded." Mark and Hayley confirmed their split in May 2024, just days after their one-year anniversary. Taking to Instagram at the time, Hayley wrote in her Story: 'It is with regret I announce that myself and Mark have gone our separate ways. "We had the best year together and I truly wish him all the best for the future." The Sun later told how Mark took a swipe at his ex, saying he would only consider divorcing estranged wife Katie if he met someone serious. EXCL The Chase's Mark Labbett reveals he was forced to quit date after shock health scare Mark married Katie - who is also his second cousin - in 2014 and they separated in 2020. The former couple also welcomed a son during their marriage. He said: 'It will happen if either Katie or I get with someone serious — then it might obviously be a different matter.' Mark spoke out after Hayley told The Sun a month earlier that his break-up with her a week after their one-year anniversary left her 'completely crushed'. She said at the time: 'The whole thing was traumatic, and it's been a journey to heal from it. He was truly beastly.' But Mark feels relieved, explaining: 'I'm just quite content being on my own. 'Facts are easy. Numbers are easy. People are complicated. 'I could sum me up as the kind of guy who could tell you the capital of Estonia is Tallinn but would have no idea why that pretty girl is giving me a funny half-smile. 'That's why I never played poker seriously, because I realised I can't read people.' Mark Labbett and Hayley Palmer relationship timeline May 16, 2023 - The pair went on their first date to a Toby Carvery in Southsea, Portsmouth. December 24, 2023 - The couple decided to record a podcast together after being in a relationship for several months. They planned to cover everything from Mark wooing Hayley with his Toby Carvery card to dating in the public eye, shopping trips, their big rule of not sharing chips and hilarious inside jokes. May 25, 2024 - Mark broke up with Hayley over the phone, saying he wasn't ready to finalise his divorce with his ex wife Katie. Meanwhile, Hayley later fired back at these comments. Taking to Instagram, she told fans: 'I think it's a shame that someone could say something so heartless over a relationship that lasted over a year. "I have moved on and working to be the best version of myself. "I think what is actually serious is Mental Health and we should all be working together towards a caring Christmas. X." 4
