Olly Murs fans boo X Factor legend as he makes cheeky confession
Olly Murs found himself on the receiving end of boos during a packed concert after making an awkward confession. Even those with limited knowledge of sport could predict he was walking into a bit of a hornet's nest - but it wasn't going to stop him.
The pop star decided to reveal his true feelings about a topic dear to him in front of a Liverpool audience, and their reaction was predictable. The Liverpool Echo reported that he had the crowd 'wrapped around his finger' as he brought his 15 Years Of Hits tour to the city's MandS Bank Arena on Thursday.
Thousands of fans filled the venue for the show, which is part of his latest nationwide tour. Ryan Paton, reporting for the Echo, said the X Factor singer "made sure the show felt unique to those there on the night, with enjoyable interactions with the crowd in between his back catalogue of songs."
Fans of pop music know Olly as a cheeky chap who enjoys having a laugh with his audience - which led to the moment in question. Olly allowed a long-standing band member to "embarrass" him on stage by sharing a photo from his career. Olly informed the crowd: "On this part of the show, I have absolutely no idea what is about to appear on that screen.", reports Wales Online.
The chosen photo showed him touching the This Is Anfield sign at Liverpool FC's home ground. Olly laughed, probably anticipating what was coming next.
As the image appeared on a large screen, it divided the audience. Liverpool supporters cheered loudly, but Everton fans in the crowd booed.
Olly Murs then faced a playful backlash from the audience when he revealed his football allegiance, saying: "Of course, this will probably get the biggest boo of the night. I am a Manchester United fan."
The singer couldn't help but laugh as the crowd responded with jeers, prompting him to quip: "Shall I go?" Despite the ribbing, Olly is well-known for his devotion to Manchester United, and the concert carried on with the crowd enjoying his chart-topping tunes.
He also shared that he had just celebrated his 41st birthday on Wednesday by performing a medley of 80s classics, honouring the era of his birth. A poignant moment occurred during the gig when Olly performed 'Dear Darling' in tribute to his late X Factor co-host Caroline Flack. He expressed to the audience: "I genuinely think about her every day.
"I know that feeling of losing someone that you love very much. With this song, I want you to think of those people and sing with me."
In a touching scene, fans lit up their phones and joined in singing, creating what Ryan at The Echo described as "the standout moment of the evening".

I got my boyfriend a job at my work — then he dumped me
'Three years ago I started dating a guy who was desperate for a job, so I helped him out and got him a job at my office,' Sophie said down the phone. 'We were working together and living together, but no one knew – then, he broke up with me. Twice.' The 25-year-old lives in Lisbon and realised that helping her partner out had really backfired. 'The second time we broke up, it was for good. Now I'm navigating a situation where we are no longer dating but we're still colleagues a year later. It's terrible,' she added. I tried to hide the shock on my face, as Sophie told her story. She was spilling her dilemma on the latest episode of Just Between Us, Metro's hot new sex and relationships podcast. But my co-host Diana Vickers and I struggled to keep a straight face as she explained that his reason for breaking up with her was wanting a fresh start; new job, new city, new girlfriend. 'He told me he needed to find himself and he wasn't happy in his corporate job or routine, so I expected him to leave the job and move to the other side of the world, but no, the only thing he changed about his life was breaking up with me,' Sophie said. X Factor icon Diana Vickers and Metro's dating expert Alice Giddings dive into your wildest sex, love, and dating dilemmas – every Tuesday. Listen wherever you get your podcasts or watch on YouTube. And be sure to follow and subscribe so you never miss an episode. You can also join the fun on our WhatsApp Group Chat here – share your dilemmas and Diana and Alice may just give you a call. Oh, and he dumped her on holiday – both times. While breaking up with someone isn't a crime – you'd think that you'd try and do it when you aren't stuck in a hotel room together. Sophie actually has a new boyfriend now, but she's struggling with being haunted by her ex every day as she sends Outlook calendar invites, so she came to us for advice. She's wondering how to truly find her peace after the relationship and how she can work through her last frustrations from how badly he handled the breakup. Now, her dilemma isn't surprising, given that 44% of people know a co-worker who has had an affair at work, and that a fifth of marriages or civil partnerships start in the office – but that doesn't make it any easier when it doesn't work out. It's tricky, because Sophie doesn't have the luxury of the delete and block method where you avoid seeing or hearing from them IRL or on social media. So, step number one, which is a tip from dating coach Matthew Hussey I picked up, is to change your ex's name on any forms of communication you have to have on your phone to something that reminds you you've moved on. A woman who Matthew coached changed her ex's name in her phone to 'Done', so whenever he popped up, it reinforced they were over and done with. It may sound petty and small, but trust me, it works a treat. It gives you that satisfaction of knowing that chapter is finished with. Sophie also questioned if she should tell any colleagues they have had a relationship and how badly it ended. 'Part of me, after my third Aperol Spritz at corporate drinks, really wants to let it out' she said. It was a firm no from me. She's done so brilliantly at keeping it professional up until now and it would likely give him more satisfaction knowing you're still thinking about him. Not to mention, from a HR perspective it could get pretty contentious, and she loves her job, so it's not worth letting him jeopardise that. Instead, Sophie can take comfort in knowing that yes, she can't escape him, but he can't escape her either and he'll likely be watching as she's moving on with her new handsome beau (who thankfully doesn't work at the company) – that's penalty enough, surely. She gushed about her new partner who she's still in the honeymoon phase with, saying: 'My new guy is a bit older than me and he's treating me like I was never treated before – I feel loved in a way I can't even describe.' More Trending Now that's some good karma there for you. Since he's such a catch, Diana and I suggested another petty but satisfying way to show you've moved on. 'You could get your handsome man to come and pick you for lunch,' I said. It's simple but effective – close that chapter once and for all. But Sophie's dilemma isn't the only tea on the latest Just Between Us episode – Diana and I talk all things heartbreak, why it's not a 'you' problem when your ex shows up for someone in ways they never did for you, and whether we've ever crossed lines in the workplace. Rebecca Loos' searingly honest justification for David Beckham 'affair'
David Beckham's former personal assistant Rebecca Loos is set to make a TV comeback this week as she takes part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins and is speaking out on her alleged affair with David Beckham once again More than two decades have passed since Rebecca Loos first claimed she had an affair with David Beckham, but it still remains one of the most explosive celebrity scandals of the early 2000s. Rebecca, a former glamour model and Beckham's personal assistant in 2003, is making a TV comeback on Channel 4 this week as she takes part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. Like all the recruits, Rebecca faced a grilling in the show's Mirror Room. Jason Fox and Chris Oliver questioned her motives for being on the show before asking how she felt about her affair with Beckham now she's had the time to reflect on it. "It felt unjust that my life was pretty hell and his (Beck ham's) life kept going and kept blossoming. I've been accused of being a liar. I've had a lifetime of opinions around me, I've definitely developed thick skin. "I think the public opinion now has softened, at least from what I'm gathering since the documentary came out with the Beckhams a couple of years ago. I think it is now because thanks to social media, there is a whole different following out there, which it's a double-edged sword." The drama began in 2003 after Beckham had just completed a high-profile move from Manchester United to Real Madrid, a career-defining transfer that promised fresh footballing glory in Spain. With the move came a new entourage, including 26-year-old Rebecca Loos, who was hired as a personal assistant to help the Beckhams settle into Spanish life. In September that year, Beckham and Loos were photographed leaving a Madrid nightclub together. Whispers of an affair quickly began circulating, although both parties remained silent. But everything changed in April 2004 when Loos sold her story in an exclusive interview with News of the World. She claimed that the pair had been romantically involved for four months. Explaining why she chose to embark on the alleged fling, she said: "We just connected. People noticed it." Explaining that the idea of group drinks back at the hotel were floated after a night out, she claimed David told her: "Why don't we just lose the rest and why don't we just go back together?" "I gave him a look I was very surprised, very taken aback. I said, '**** off' in a joking manner. But there was a look and he was still looking at me and I was looking at him. I think one of the girls we were with came up and sat between us. I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong. Admitting she knew he was a married man and that she was worried about jeopardising her job, she shared her reason for agreeing. "I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong and people were not happy because I was being very unprofessional and he's a married man. Then it dawned on me what he had asked me and I decided I did want to go back with him so we gave each other a look and paid the bill and left. I couldn't wait to be alone with him and I knew he felt the same. We dropped off the other two people in the car and starting kissing quite passionately all the way back to the hotel... It was like magnets, pretty amazing." Beckham issued a firm denial, calling the allegations "ludicrous" and reiterating his commitment to his wife, Victoria. He said in a statement released at the time: 'The simple truth is that I am very happily married. I have a wonderful wife and two very special kids.' But the damage had been done. Victoria, who had remained in England during the early months of Beckham's Madrid tenure, was thrust into the spotlight as headlines cast doubt on their relationship. She later described that period as 'the most unhappy I have ever been in my entire life.' Loos was reportedly paid a large sum for her story, including a televised special with Sky One. She later claimed she went public not out of malice, but because 'better it comes from me.' The Beckhams never pursued legal action against Loos directly, but in 2006, they reached a confidential settlement after filing defamation claims against News of the World. Beckham has always denied the allegations. In 2023, Netflix 's Beckham docuseries reignited interest in the alleged affair. Though Loos is never mentioned by name, the show offers emotional testimony from both David and Victoria about the strain the scandal caused. 'It was the hardest period for us,' David admits. 'For us to go through that was incredibly difficult.' In March 2025, Loos re-emerged on 60 Minutes Australia to reaffirm her version of events. 'I've never lied about a single thing,' she insisted. Now living in Norway, Loos explained how the experience impacted her mental health and why she chose to speak out again: 'I'm going up against the strongest, most powerful couple in the media. All I had on my side was the truth.' Admitting she knew he was a married man and that she was worried about jeopardising her job at the time, she shared her reason for agreeing. In an interview for Sky TV she said: "I gave him a look I was very surprised, very taken aback. I said, '**** off' in a joking manner. But there was a look and he was still looking at me and I was looking at him. I think one of the girls we were with came up and sat between us. I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong."
