Rebecca Loos' searingly honest justification for David Beckham 'affair'
More than two decades have passed since Rebecca Loos first claimed she had an affair with David Beckham, but it still remains one of the most explosive celebrity scandals of the early 2000s.
Rebecca, a former glamour model and Beckham's personal assistant in 2003, is making a TV comeback on Channel 4 this week as she takes part in Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins. Like all the recruits, Rebecca faced a grilling in the show's Mirror Room. Jason Fox and Chris Oliver questioned her motives for being on the show before asking how she felt about her affair with Beckham now she's had the time to reflect on it.
"It felt unjust that my life was pretty hell and his (Beck ham's) life kept going and kept blossoming. I've been accused of being a liar. I've had a lifetime of opinions around me, I've definitely developed thick skin.
"I think the public opinion now has softened, at least from what I'm gathering since the documentary came out with the Beckhams a couple of years ago. I think it is now because thanks to social media, there is a whole different following out there, which it's a double-edged sword."
The drama began in 2003 after Beckham had just completed a high-profile move from Manchester United to Real Madrid, a career-defining transfer that promised fresh footballing glory in Spain.
With the move came a new entourage, including 26-year-old Rebecca Loos, who was hired as a personal assistant to help the Beckhams settle into Spanish life.
In September that year, Beckham and Loos were photographed leaving a Madrid nightclub together. Whispers of an affair quickly began circulating, although both parties remained silent.
But everything changed in April 2004 when Loos sold her story in an exclusive interview with News of the World. She claimed that the pair had been romantically involved for four months. Explaining why she chose to embark on the alleged fling, she said: "We just connected. People noticed it." Explaining that the idea of group drinks back at the hotel were floated after a night out, she claimed David told her: "Why don't we just lose the rest and why don't we just go back together?"
"I gave him a look I was very surprised, very taken aback. I said, '**** off' in a joking manner. But there was a look and he was still looking at me and I was looking at him. I think one of the girls we were with came up and sat between us. I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong.
Admitting she knew he was a married man and that she was worried about jeopardising her job, she shared her reason for agreeing. "I think the chemistry between David and I was so strong and people were not happy because I was being very unprofessional and he's a married man. Then it dawned on me what he had asked me and I decided I did want to go back with him so we gave each other a look and paid the bill and left. I couldn't wait to be alone with him and I knew he felt the same. We dropped off the other two people in the car and starting kissing quite passionately all the way back to the hotel... It was like magnets, pretty amazing."
Beckham issued a firm denial, calling the allegations "ludicrous" and reiterating his commitment to his wife, Victoria. He said in a statement released at the time: 'The simple truth is that I am very happily married. I have a wonderful wife and two very special kids.'
But the damage had been done. Victoria, who had remained in England during the early months of Beckham's Madrid tenure, was thrust into the spotlight as headlines cast doubt on their relationship. She later described that period as 'the most unhappy I have ever been in my entire life.'
Loos was reportedly paid a large sum for her story, including a televised special with Sky One. She later claimed she went public not out of malice, but because 'better it comes from me.'
The Beckhams never pursued legal action against Loos directly, but in 2006, they reached a confidential settlement after filing defamation claims against News of the World. Beckham has always denied the allegations.
In 2023, Netflix 's Beckham docuseries reignited interest in the alleged affair. Though Loos is never mentioned by name, the show offers emotional testimony from both David and Victoria about the strain the scandal caused.
'It was the hardest period for us,' David admits. 'For us to go through that was incredibly difficult.'
In March 2025, Loos re-emerged on 60 Minutes Australia to reaffirm her version of events. 'I've never lied about a single thing,' she insisted. Now living in Norway, Loos explained how the experience impacted her mental health and why she chose to speak out again: 'I'm going up against the strongest, most powerful couple in the media. All I had on my side was the truth.'
Admitting she knew he was a married man and that she was worried about jeopardising her job at the time, she shared her reason for agreeing. In an interview for Sky TV she said: "I gave him a look I was very surprised, very taken aback. I said, '**** off' in a joking manner. But there was a look and he was still looking at me and I was looking at him. I think one of the girls we were with came up and sat between us. Man, 71, from Windsor, who stalked actress Anna Friel bailed ahead of sentencing
A man from Berkshire, who stalked actress Anna Friel for nearly three years, has been bailed ahead of his sentencing next month. Phil Appleton, 71, sent numerous messages, visited the actress's home address on several occasions and left 'unwanted' gifts between January 1 2022 and December 11 2024, Reading Crown Court previously heard. Appleton, of Windsor, pleaded guilty to a stalking offence under Section 2A of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 earlier this week. He was due to be sentenced on Thursday, but judge Alan Blake adjourned the hearing until September 18 for a pre-sentence report to be carried out. The defendant, who the court heard has been in custody for six months and has spent time in a mental health facility, was granted conditional bail. Appleton must not contact Friel or enter the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and is to co-operate with those conducting the pre-sentence report. A website under his name appears to suggest that he is an actor and retired pilot. Friel, 49, rose to fame with her role as Beth Jordache in Channel 4 soap opera Brookside. She achieved international renown in 2007, starring as Charlotte 'Chuck' Charles in ABC comedy series Pushing Daisies. In 2017, she won the International Emmy for Best Actress for her role as the title character in the ITV and Netflix mystery drama series Marcella.

Katie Price reveals having kittens is practice for children with boyfriend JJ Slater
Former glamour model Katie Price has been training her boyfriend JJ Slater for when they have a baby as the couple have welcomed kittens into their family Katie Price has admitted having kittens is how she is getting ready to have a baby with her boyfriend JJ Slater. The former glamour model, 47, has long expressed her desire to have more children. She is already mum to Harvey, 23, Junior, 20, Princess, 18, Jett, 11 and Bunny, 11. Katie revealed she has explored both IVF and egg donation as she wishes to welcome a sixth child. The mum-of-five shared she bought donor eggs last year before meeting current boyfriend JJ Slater, 32. Katie has remained optimistic about the future despite her unsuccessful IVF treatment, which she said failed because "my eggs are too old". It comes after Katie Price worried fans with her appearance in a family photo after explaining her weight loss. Now, it seems Katie and JJ have been getting some practicing in as they push ahead with their baby plans. Katie's cat Doris gave birth last week while she was watching a film with JJ. "It just come out of nowhere, the kids were so good with helping," she said on the Katie Price Show podcast. "The cat had five kittens and luckily, we were prepared." However, because they had arrived early the kittens were too small to feed on the bottles Katie had at home. She added: "JJ had to go to the vet at two in the morning, they were so young they couldn't fix onto the mum. "So every two hours through the day and the night, me and JJ have been feeding the kittens." Katie went as far as admitting the task was "worse" than having a newborn baby. The couple were meant to be on holiday on the Isle of Wight when the kittens arrived, and so decided to take Doris and the babies with them. While there, Katie and JJ stopped off at a vets, who told them they were premature. "They said we are doing a fantastic job, they are above their weight and they're looking good," Katie said of the vet visit. "They said 'whatever you are doing, you are doing really well'. So pat on the back to us." Revealing how fatherhood was affecting her partner, Katie quipped: "JJ said he has never felt so worn out. This is him rehearsing for when it is the real thing." Speaking to Paul C Brunson on his We Need To Talk podcast earlier this year, Katie opened up on her baby plans. "I had IVF and it failed because basically my eggs are too old," she shared. "I gave it a go even though the doctors said you've got a 1 percent chance of that working, but I just said I might be that 1%. I'm doing it! I went through all of it and it didn't work. "So I have got donor eggs, I got them last year. You don't see the picture but they go on how I look, like the dark hair, the green eyes, Spanish... because I've got like Italian/Spanish in me." Katie also shared how she put the plans in place before meeting JJ and had already picked a sperm donor. "Because I'm not afraid to have a baby on my own, before I met JJ I was quite happy. I found a sperm donor from America, from black origin," she said.
