Man, 71, who stalked actress Anna Friel bailed ahead of sentencing
Appleton, of Windsor in Berkshire, pleaded guilty to a stalking offence under Section 2A of the Protection from Harassment Act 1997 earlier this week.
He was due to be sentenced on Thursday but judge Alan Blake adjourned the hearing until September 18 for a pre-sentence report to be carried out.
The defendant, who the court heard has been in custody for six months and has spent time in a mental health facility, was granted conditional bail.
Appleton must not contact Friel or enter the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead and is to co-operate with those conducting the pre-sentence report.
A website under his name appears to suggest that he is an actor and retired pilot.
Friel, 49, rose to fame with her role as Beth Jordache in Channel 4 soap opera Brookside.
She achieved international renown in 2007 starring as Charlotte 'Chuck' Charles in ABC comedy series Pushing Daisies.
In 2017, she won the International Emmy for Best Actress for her role as the title character in the ITV and Netflix mystery drama series Marcella.

His death comes after repeated warnings that parachuted aid deliveries are dangerous, ineffective and far from meeting Gaza's desperate need for food, baby formula and medical supplies. Civil defence spokesperson Mahmud Basal said "daily injuries and fatalities" occur when heavy parcels fall on people in densely populated areas, adding that stampedes and overcrowding at drop sites also claim lives. It comes after furious Bob Geldof issued a desperate plea on Sky News to save babies in Gaza. Gaza's Government Media Office condemned the airdrops, saying: "We have repeatedly warned of the danger of these inhumane methods and have repeatedly called for the entry of aid through land crossings in a safe and sufficient manner, especially food, infant milk, medicines, and medical supplies." On Tuesday, a coalition of 24 countries, including the UK, Australia and several European states, warned that famine is "unfolding before our eyes" and demanded Israel allow unrestricted aid into Gaza. "The humanitarian suffering in Gaza has reached unimaginable levels. Urgent action is needed now to halt and reverse starvation. Humanitarian space must be protected, and aid should never be politicised," their joint statement said. The grim warning came as Israeli strikes continued across the Strip, killing at least 46 Palestinians since dawn on Tuesday. Five more people - including two children - died from starvation, bringing the total famine death toll to 227 since the war began, among them 103 children. Israel denies there is starvation in Gaza. Speaking to the ABC's 7:30 on Monday night, Israel's ambassador to Australia, Amir Maimon, said: "The government of Israel is not - is not - there is no starvation policy. That's not to say that we believe the condition on the ground are ideal." He declined to say how many children have died from hunger. On Sunday, five Al Jazeera employees, described as among the "last remaining voices within Gaza", were killed in an Israeli attack that has sparked global outrage. Correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqeh, camera operators Ibrahim Zaher and Moamen Aliwa, and their assistant Mohammed Noufal, died on Sunday following a strike on a tent near al Shifa Hospital in Gaza.

Tonight, Channel 4 viewers sat down for the first instalment of gripping new thriller, In Flight but it seemed like they all had the same complaint as they took to X to discuss Tonight, Channel 4 aired the first episode of highly anticipated thriller, In Flight. The six-part series follows the story of single mum and flight attendant Jo Conran whose life is turned upside down when her son is imprisoned for a murder in Bulgaria. However, he swears he didn't commit it. In a desperate attempt, to save her son, Jo takes a huge risk and begins to smuggle drugs over the boarder through her job - but how will things pan out? Fans sat down at 9pm to watch the first instalment on Channel 4, starring Katherine Kelly, but it seemed like a number of fans had the same comment, as they took to X, formerly known as Twitter to complain. It comes after BBC Death in Paradise's Kris Marshall shares heartbreak over being sacked and losing job. Fans had no complaints about the series, just the lack of it. "Too many bloody ads," said one disappointed viewer, while another penned: "More adverts than programme!" The actor, 39, stars as menacing gang leader Cormac in the new Channel 4 drama, who coerces flight attendant Jo Conran (Katherine Kelly) into using her job to repeatedly struggle drugs, in order to save the life of her son, who is currently behind bars for a murder he claims he did not commit. The TV star has actually been something of a mainstay on screens for well over a decade, having initially played guest roles in shows such as Taggart in 2009 and a handful of episodes of the now-defunct Scottish soap River City. In 2014, he starred as Lannister Soldier in an episode of the HBO series Game of Thrones and then landed the more regular role of PC Tony Forbes in Babylon. From 2017 until 2019, he appeared in all 24 episodes of Jamestown as Silas Sharrow, and then landed what is possibly his most famous role as Detective Inspector William Wellington on Miss Scarlett and the Duke. He played this part from 2020 until 2024, at which point the series continued on without him. On film, he has starred in both instalments of the space opera franchise Rebel Moon alongside the likes of Djimon Hounsou and Sofia Boutella. But away from his life on screen, Stuart is married to actress Lisa McGrillis. They celebrated their 10th wedding anniversary together, and are parents to Josh, eight, as well as four-year-old Cleo. He plays will play customs officer Dom Delaney, Jo's ex, in the thrilling drama. Some might recognise Ashley as Jermaine Newton from Top Boy. His acting credits include appearances in Black Mirror, Great Expectations, and The Serpent Queen. Completing the In Flight ensemble are Bronagh Waugh playing Melanie, Harry Cadby as Sonny, Corinna Brown portraying Kayla, and Ambreen Razia in the role of Zara.
