Tygart Valley United Way hosts Laugh United fundraiser
The highlight of the night was a performance by national comedian and illusionist Joshua Jordan, whose blend of humor and magic kept the audience entertained and laughing throughout the evening. United Way officials expressed that their event, Laugh United, is not only a fun way to unwind but also a meaningful opportunity to make a difference in the community.

Director of Community Engagement for the Tygart Valley United Way Jolynn Powers was happy to see the event come together.
'United Way is kind of a pass-through for your funds, we don't keep your funds,' Powers said. 'We take your funds, we gather them together, that $600,000 and redistribute it to the most important nonprofits in your communities and those nonprofits are the ones that are in direct service to your families, to your seniors, to your homeless every day.'
By attending, participants not only enjoyed a night full of laughter, but also helped support a worthy cause, contributing to United Way's continued efforts to assist those facing challenges in the region.

El Paso to honor Aug. 3 victims with remembrance ceremonies, events
El Paso is honoring the Walmart mass shooting victims by lighting porches and windows with orange lights, the color used to remember those impacted by gun violence. The city of El Paso is encouraging the community to swap lights to the orange color in remembrance of the 23 victims who died in the mass shooting on Aug. 3, 2019. Downtown arches are also shining orange, along with public art along Airway and walkways outside of the El Paso International Airport. The orange lights will be on display until Friday, Aug. 8. Here are other ways the community is honoring the victims. Remembrance Ceremony at Jim Crouch Park The event will take place by the Aug. 3 memorial created by artist Tino Ortega, and honors the lives lost. When: 9:30 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 3 Address: 7500 W.H. Burges Drive Star on the Mountain to flash 23 times El Paso's iconic star on the mountain will flash 23 times at 8 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, in honor of the victims. Day of Resilience Ceremony El Paso County and United Way will host remembrance activities around the Healing Garden at Ascarate Park.
