Metro…In Dino Opens To Positive Reviews, Collects Rs 3.35 Crore On Day 1
Metro…In Dino, the Anurag Basu directorial musical romantic drama anthology that hit the theatres on July 4, opened to positive reviews from fans and critics alike. Despite a favourable word of mouth, the film got a slow start at the box office. According to sacnilk.com, the film minted Rs 3.35 crore Nett in India on its first day. While the film had a modest turnout in morning and afternoon shows, it picked up a significant pace by evening and night.
The Hindi-language drama had an overall occupancy rate of 17.99 per cent on its first day, with night shows leading the way at 31.09 per cent. Evening shows also contributed significantly, allowing the film to finish the day with respectable numbers for a non-action, dialogue-driven ensemble feature.
Going by the reviews, Metro…In Dino's collection is likely to grow significantly in the coming days.
One of the key reasons for the film's slow start could be its box office clash with the Hollywood action thriller, Jurassic World: Rebirth starring Scarlett Johansson. It collected a whopping Rs 9 crore net in India on Day 1.
Produced by Bhushan Kumar and Anurag Basu, the film features an ensemble cast including Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Anupam Kher, Neena Gupta and Saswata Chatterjee.
The film is a spiritual continuation of Basu's 2007 anthology Life in a… Metro. Eighteen years after the original captivated hearts with its depiction of urban relationships, this new chapter delves once again into the complex emotions of people negotiating love and loneliness in modern city life.
Metro…In Dino explores modern love and relationships across different age groups and cities, with a focus on themes of commitment, infidelity and second chances in a relationship. The key highlight of the film is the music by Pritam, especially tracks like Zamaana Lage, Aur Mohabbat Kitni Karun, Qayde Se, Dil Ka Kya and Mann Ye Mera.
Coming back to Anurag Basu, his next film is with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. The untitled romantic drama will be released in theatres on the occasion of Diwali. It will be clashing with Ayushmann Khurrana and Rashmika Mandanna's horror-comedy Thama.

Metro In Dino Day 2 India Box Office: Anurag Basu's directorial shows reasonable growth to net Rs 5.50 crore on first Saturday; Total remain under par
Dino, directed by Anurag Basu and starring Ali Fazal, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Nina Gupta, Anupam Kher, Pankaj Tripathi, Konkona Sen Sharma and others, showed reasonable gains on day 2, after a low opening day. With Rs 5.50 crore net on day 2, the total of the movie stands at Rs 8.75 crore. Sunday should see a slight jump from day 2, and the movie will end with a weekend of Rs 14.50 crore net or so. The Day Wise India Net Collections Of Dino Are As Under Dino's Rs 8.75 Crore Net Total In 2 Days Is Under Par; Strong Weekdays Required The collections of Dino in India so far are not up to the mark. Being a multiplex-oriented, metro-centric film with a low opening day, a Saturday growth was obviously coming. What the film essentially needs is a very strong weekday trend so that it can retain good screens in week 2 amidst stiff competition from Superman, Aankhon Ki Gustaakhiyan and Maalik, apart from the already strong holdover releases. Dino Needs To Net Rs 55 Crore In India/Gross Rs 75 Crore Worldwide To Breakeven The weekday trend will determine whether Dino will barely cross Rs 30 crore net in India, or go on to do around Rs 40 crore net if not more. With the overseas collections not as strong as they should be, all the pressure is precisely on the India theatricals. As stated earlier, a Rs 75 crore gross worldwide collection is the bare minimum that the movie needs to do, in order to ensure that no one in the value chain loses any money. Given roughly Rs 10 crore gross will come from international markets, the Anurag Basu directorial needs to net around Rs 55 crore net, atleast. Dino In Theatres After Dino, Anurag Basu moves onto his next with Kartik Aaryan and Sreeleela. Dino plays in theatres now. Stay tuned to Pinkvilla for more updates on Anurag Basu and his Dino.
