Wyndham Championship 2025: Odds, favorites, picks for the Tour's regular-season finale
The PGA Tour concludes its regular season this week at the Wyndham Championship, where players are vying for more than just a title.
But winning is the name of the game, and betting expert Brad Thomas offers his insight:
Jake Knapp, to win (+4000) and top 20 (+180)
Jake Knapp's profile probably best suits a course where players can just bomb and gouge their way around. However, it would be foolish not to go back to Knapp after his performance at the 3M Open, where he finished tied for third.
Knapp was again a big gainer on the greens, where he picked up 3.3 strokes to the field in putting, marking four straight tournaments where he's gained strokes on the greens.
Knapp's sometimes erratic driver shouldn't hurt him at Sedgefield. With only three or four holes where the long-drive reward is higher than the missed-fairway penalty, there will be quite a few holes where clubbing down is necessary. Conservatively, there are around seven holes where less than driver will be beneficial.
For Knapp, hitting mini driver or 3-wood is just as long as a driver for many in the field. With a tighter shot dispersion, Knapp should be longer yet still in the short grass. After four straight top-25 finishes and two weeks in contention, Knapp's price provides a ton of value.

Dahmen grabs first-round lead at PGA Wyndham Championship
Joel Dahmen, fighting to make the season-ending playoffs, fired a nine-under par 61 on Thursday to seize a one-shot lead in the Wyndham Championship in North Carolina. Dahmen arrived at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro ranked 101st in the tour's FedEx Cup standings. The top 70 advance to the playoffs that start next week with the St. Jude Championship. Dahmen attacked the challenge with 10 birdies, including three in a row to cap his round at the seventh, eighth and ninth. "I don't know if you ever see 61 coming, but I saw good golf coming," Dahmen said, pointing to a stretch of some 45 holes without a bogey last week. A victory would move Dahmen into 48th place in the FedEx Cup standings, although the 37-year-old -- who has one win on his resume -- was quick to note there was a lot of golf left to be played. "The playoffs are a bonus for me," he said. "I'm just going to go out and try to play good golf and I guess if I play really well then I get to play another week." Dahmen had a one-stroke lead over Sweden's Alex Noren, whose eight-under round was highlighted by an eagle at the par-five fifth hole. England's Aaron Rai, Colombian Nico Echavarria and Americans Mark Hubbard and Cameron Young were tied for third on seven-under. bb/acb

Who's up, who's down in the FedEx Cup Playoffs after 18 holes at Wyndham Championship?
It's the tournament-within-the-tournament. The 2025 Wyndham Championship is the regular-season finale for the PGA Tour. It's also the Last Chance Saloon for those trying to find their way into the top 70 for the FedEx Cup Playoffs. That's a big change from a year ago, when the top 100 made the postseason. Now, the pressure is ratcheted up for those looking to extend their 2025 seasons. Who moved up in the projected FedEx Cup Playoff standings? There was no movement in or out of the top 30, which guarantees golfers a spot in the Tour Championship. But there some changes as it pertains to the top-50 cutoff. Joel Dahmen had the biggest jump up, as his first-round 61 on Thursday vaulted him from No. 101 all the way to No. 48, a leap of 53 spots. "I mean, I've had like three top-2s in my career. I don't know, four of 'em maybe? I mean, it's not even a thing, right?," he pondered after his first round. "Yeah, great to make the Playoffs, that would be unbelievable, give me a lot of time off this fall. We've got a baby coming so that would take some pressure off of that. The Playoffs are a bonus for me. I'm just going to go out and try to play good golf, and I guess if I play really well, then I get to play another week." Fellow pro Mark Hubbard confirmed that Dahmen was looking at vacation time these next few weeks more than a possible playoff spot. "My wife's actually in Jackson Hole right now, I think they're {the Dahmens] talking about maybe going there," Hubbard said. "I'm super jealous of both of them so I might just third wheel onto his trip, I don't know." Hubbard, who shot 65 on Thursday, is still on the outside at No. 82 but that's up from 98 from 24 hours ago. Jordan Spieth also did himself some favors. He was in the 50th spot ahead of this week and gave himself some breathing room after shooting 5-under 65 to move up to 46th. "I didn't have a great warmup this morning and it kind of translated, but it was nice to hang in there, get some breaks on the greens and be a couple under while I wasn't really, really feeling very good about my game," he said. "Then I started to kind of get in a nice rhythm to finish and hopefully carry that into the rest of the week." Christiaan Bezuidenhout has moved to the good side of the top-70 threshold from No. 74 to No. 66. The South African still has work to do but his Thursday 65 is a big step in the right direction. Who moved down in the projected FedEx Cup Playoff standings? On the flip side, a few golfers were moving the wrong direction at Sedgefield, but again, it's only been 18 holes, so there's still time. Min Woo Lee, not playing this week, went from No. 49 to No. 51. That's good enough to make next week but now has him out of the BMW. The bigger hit came to Ben An, who shot 2-under 68 and is tied for 64th at the Wyndham. That's an outcome that saw him fall from 69th to 72nd and out of the playoffs. Also sliding out was Matti Schmid, who was the bubble boy at the start of the tournament at No. 70. He's now 73rd. Big names still on the wrong side of top 70 in 2025 FedEx Cup Playoffs standings There are three prominent names still outside the top 70 and time is starting to run out. Gary Woodland went back three spots from 75th to 78th; Adam Scott went from 85th to 84th; Max Homa was 106th and now he's 103rd.
