Drake's Historic Hot 100 Record Has Been Matched — Again

Drake is, in many respects, the most successful artist ever when it comes to the Hot 100. The Canadian rapper has charted hundreds of songs on Billboard's ranking of the most consumed tracks in America, and though he doesn't claim every record, his legacy is secure.
One of Drake's most impressive Hot 100 showings is matched this week — not by another rapper or even a pop superstar — but by the biggest name in country music to emerge in quite some time.
Morgan Wallen's new album I'm the Problem debuts at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with the largest opening sum of 2025. Several tracks from the project reach the Hot 100's top 10 for the first time, with several opening in that space and others surging.
Wallen is joined by Tate McRae at No. 1 with "What I Want," which debuts in the highest space. The brand new tune "I Got Better" opens at No. 7. At the same time, "Superman," which was released earlier in May as a promotional cut, breaks into the loftiest tier for the first time. The track originally kicked off its time at No. 16 but now rockets to No. 8 in its second stay on the tally.
As "What I Want" and "I Got Better" debut inside the top 10 and "Superman" reaches No. 8, Wallen's I'm the Problem has now produced nine top 10 hits on the Hot 100. His full-length is just the fourth in history to score that many smashes, and Wallen is now tied with Drake at this figure.
Drake's Certified Lover Boy also produced nine top 10 successes on the Hot 100 when it was brand new. He managed the feat in September 2021 when he occupied all but one slot inside the uppermost region on the ranking.
Only one musician has conquered the entirety of the top 10 in one fell swoop — and she's managed to do so twice. Taylor Swift became the first artist to accomplish the incredible showing with her album Midnights, which sent its brand new cuts into the highest region. She repeated that showing and even expanded her reach to dominate the entire 14 highest spaces at one time with 2024's The Tortured Poets Department.

‘Wicked' Star Cynthia Erivo Fires Back at MAGA Hate for Playing Jesus
Wicked star Cynthia Erivo has some thoughts about the MAGA outrage—fueled by Elon Musk—over her casting as Christ in the Hollywood Bowl's production of Jesus Christ Superstar. 'You can't please everyone,' the Tony, Grammy, and Emmy-winner told Billboard in a new interview. 'It is legitimately a three-day performance at the Hollywood Bowl where I get to sing my face off. So hopefully they will come and realize, 'Oh, it's a musical, the gayest place on Earth.'' The show will run August 1-3. Many MAGA fans slammed Erivo's Christ casting as 'blasphemy' on social media when her role was first announced in February. What seemed lost on several critics was the tone of the show itself. The 1971 Andrew Lloyd Webber rock opera has always been a provocative, at-times critical take on Christ's life, that over time became a cult favorite among queer audiences. Musk seemed to have missed that bit of information as well as he chimed in on X with an eyebrow-raised emoji in reply to an X user who wrote, 'Imagine doing this to any other religion' next to Erivo's casting news. Critics with similar complaints flooded Variety's social media post announcing the casting with one user in the replies called Erivo playing Christ 'anti-Christian bigotry' by 'Hollywood.' But Erivo told Billboard, 'Why not?' as she shrugged off naysayers. 'The more yourself you are, the more you are in front of people who don't necessarily understand, the better understanding starts to happen,' she said. As much as she wants to be 'a person you can get positive things from' since 'that is the only way you can balance this stuff,' she couldn't help getting in a jab at Donald Trump for his takeover of the Kennedy Center, where Erivo played some of the most iconic performances of her career. 'I don't know who gains what from that. I hope that it comes back,' she said. 'It's really sad to have to watch this happen to it. The Kennedy Center is supposed to be a space of creativity and art and music for everyone.' That said, assimilating to appease Trump and his 'anti-woke' mob isn't on the star's to-do list, she added. 'I want to encourage people to not decide to just tuck away and start hiding and not being themselves anymore,' she said, 'because that is exactly what they want.'

Lathrop Irrigation District, PG&E speak on power outage over hot weekend
LATHROP -- Rising temperatures mean more air conditioning. For hundreds of residents in Lathrop's River Islands, they had to sweat it out over this weekend's high heat. "Everyone was able to freeze their water, or go out to the pool, or make other arrangements -- so it's pretty good," Donna Cunningham said. "It always seems to happen on the hottest day of the year though," Frank Cunningham added. For about nine hours on Saturday, residents didn't have power. According to Lathrop Irrigation District (LID), this was a test of their switch at their substation that powers the relatively new development of River Islands. The test is federally mandated and happens once every five to six years. Its purpose is essential. "It keeps all our stuff safe in our switch yards," LID General Manager Erik Jones explained. "That way our power isn't interrupted if there are surge fires, whatever kind of keeps it, you know, safe for us. They have to test those. Usually it's every five, six years, but it's a federally mandated test." According to LID, Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) reached out to them earlier this year, saying they needed time to test the switch. With Lathrop only having one switch, they didn't have a choice but to shut off power for hours. That outage was scheduled months in advance, and it just so happened to land on a weekend with scorching temperatures. "It was either a Thursday or Memorial Day. Obviously, because of Memorial Day, the weather was a lot nicer, but there's a lot that's a big holiday and it would have been probably a lot worse if we chose that day," Jones said. CBS Sacramento reached out to PG&E about the timing of the outage. They sent a statement reading: "Our preference was to conduct this work in the evening when it is cooler in order to have the least amount of impact on our customers." Why wasn't the outage delayed? LID said that by the time it got PG&E's request, they had already sent out their 30-day notice to residents and didn't want to postpone the test later into the hot summer months. "We have to notify within 30 days of any interruptions, if we can," Jones explained. "We tried to give the best warning we could. When they scheduled the day of May 31, who knew it was gonna be 105 that day? It's just the way Mother Nature works this time." LID was able to turn the power back on before the original outage timeline. As of right now, there are no other outages planned.
