Aamir Khan revealed, 'After the shooting started, my production head kept calling me again and again. He was saying, Sir, please see the rough cut once. I saw the rushes of the film after he told me again and again. They were not good at all. Like that scene when Ishaan comes crying on the terrace. Then he sees a kite. He gets distracted.'
He added, 'There were 16 takes of this shot. How can he stop after seeing the mark? That very evening Amol and his wife Deepa came to my house. I asked him how did you like the rushes of the film. Amol said- Golden. Very good. My heart sank after hearing this. If he had said that they were not good. And you fired me, then I would have definitely given him another chance. But after hearing this I said- Amol, I have lost confidence in you as a director.'
'I will not produce it. I will not act either. Amol said that you make this film. I will step aside. You are the right person for this film. It was his decision not to direct Tare Zameen Par. I had given the subject back to him,' Khan further revealed.
On being hurt by Amol Gupte
He broke my heart. The way he and Deepa (Gupte's wife) treated me and the way I treated them, my heart broke. I forgave Deepa and Amol. But I could not forget. In the last meeting with Deepa, I told her that we will never meet again after today.

Acting alone didn't make Shah Rukh Khan what he is today. Secret reason of SRK's stardom, revealed by Jaideep Ahlawat

Shah Rukh Khan 's rise to superstardom has long been a subject of intrigue and admiration within the film industry. But according to actor Jaideep Ahlawat , the legendary actor's success cannot be credited to acting talent alone. In a recent interview, Ahlawat highlighted a crucial factor that he believes played a pivotal role in shaping Khan's unmatched status — his profound connection with the audience. Stardom Is More Than Talent Speaking in a candid conversation with The Lallantop, Jaideep Ahlawat distinguished between acting brilliance and lasting stardom. While he praised Ranbir Kapoor as an exceptionally talented performer, he suggested that the kind of mass appeal Shah Rukh Khan commands is rare and not solely a product of acting prowess. Ahlawat stated that popularity and stardom are fundamentally different entities — one can be a phenomenal actor and still not achieve the kind of iconic stature that Shah Rukh enjoys. He explained that Shah Rukh Khan's journey is a prime example of how emotional resonance with audiences contributes significantly to an actor's rise. It's this ability to connect deeply with viewers, he suggested, that makes the difference between a celebrated actor and a generational superstar. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Esta CFD de BCP está en los titulares — y está haciendo ganar dinero a la gente. He played Ranbir Kapoor's elder brother in Rockstar (2011) and later appeared with Shah Rukh in Raees (2017). Reflecting on his time with the two, Ahlawat noted that while Ranbir continues to deliver powerful performances, his trajectory may not reach the same magnitude as Shah Rukh's. Jaideep candidly admitted that he felt overwhelmed sharing screen space with Shah Rukh during Raees, revealing that he momentarily forgot his lines in their first scene together. The awe he felt wasn't just admiration for a co-star's skill — it stemmed from the larger-than-life presence Khan has cultivated over decades. 'King' Brings a Reunion Ahlawat is now set to reunite with Shah Rukh Khan in the much-awaited film King, directed by Siddharth Anand. This project is drawing attention not only because of Khan's return but also because it marks the on-screen debut of his daughter, Suhana Khan. The film's ensemble cast includes several noted actors, adding further excitement to its release. In the same interview, Jaideep disclosed that he had to decline a role in Ranbir Kapoor's upcoming Ramayana, citing scheduling conflicts. Though offered the role of Vibhishan, he shared that the timing didn't work out. His statement reflected both humility and practical challenges in managing a growing career. While talent lays the foundation, Jaideep Ahlawat believes it's the intangible — the charisma, the emotional engagement, and the ability to resonate across demographics — that truly defines a star like Shah Rukh Khan. His comments reinforce a broader understanding that enduring stardom in Bollywood is not just about what's delivered on screen, but also about the invisible thread that binds a star to the people. As Ahlawat continues to build his own path in the industry, his perspective offers a rare insider look into what makes someone not just an actor, but a phenomenon.

Aamir Khan reveals he got invitation from underworld to attend Dubai party in '90s: ‘I said I won't go, unless you take me forcibly'

It's no secret that the underworld held significant influence over the Hindi film industry during the 1980s and 1990s. Right around that time, in the late 1980s, Aamir Khan had his breakthrough in Bollywood as the lead in cousin Mansoor Khan's 1988 directorial debut Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak. As he became a renowned star, like many others of that time, he received an invitation in the late 1990s from the underworld to attend a party organized by them in the Middle East. 'I'd said no to the invite to attend their party in the Middle East, probably Dubai. Some people from the underworld had visited me to invite me to the party,' said Aamir Khan, not revealing if they were hired by notorious gangster Dawood Ibrahim. 'I don't take names, even of people from my industry. That's my nature,' added Aamir. In the interview with The Lallantop, Aamir Khan continued, 'They tried a lot. They offered me money and offered to get any work done of my choosing. I still refused to come. They quickly changed their tone and said I'd have to come now because my presence had already been announced, and it was a prestige issue.' 'That was our last meeting. I said, 'You've been meeting for a month and I've been telling you right from the start that I wouldn't come. You're very powerful so you can bash me up, hit me on the head, tie my hands and legs, and take me forcibly wherever you want, but I wouldn't come on my own.' So they stopped contacting me after that,' recalled Aamir. Aamir Khan admitted he was very scared at that time, not only for him, but more so for his family. 'I had two small kids then. My parents were very concerned. They said, 'What are you doing? They're very dangerous.' So I had said only one thing to them then, 'I want to live my life the way I want. I don't want to go there,'' said Aamir. 'I was more concerned for the ones close to me,' added Aamir. He had two kids then — Ira Khan and Junaid Khan — from his then-wife Reena Dutta. Aamir had tied the knot with Reena in 1986 and they'd become parents to Junaid in 1993 and Ira in 1997. Aamir and Reena got divorced in 2002. The film was being produced by Gulshan's son Bhushan Kumar, the current head of T-Series, which was founded by his late father. The film was being helmed by Subhash Kapoor. After Aamir exited the project, Akshay Kumar was being considered for the lead role. However, there's no further update on the film yet.

Aamir Khan may be Bollywood's thinking man's superstar, but even he wasn't immune to emotional breakdown. In a recent interview shared by The Lallantop, Aamir confessed he spiralled into self-destruction after his divorce from Reena Dutta in 2002—his first wife and the woman he married in secret in 1986. 'When Reena and I separated, that evening I finished an entire bottle of alcohol, and for the next 1.5 years I drank every day,' Aamir said. 'I never slept. Main behosh ho jaata tha daaru peeke. I was trying to kill myself.' What pushed Aamir to the edge? During this period, Aamir completely withdrew from work and people. The irony hit when he was named Man of the Year in the same year Lagaan released. 'I found it very ironical,' he said—celebrated by the world, but crumbling in private. How did he cope with grief and healing? This wasn't the first time Aamir reflected on that turbulent chapter. Speaking to Instant Bollywood earlier, he had said, 'When Reena and I broke, I was in mourning for almost 2–3 years. I wasn't working or listening to scripts… I drank a lot. You will be shocked to know that I was a teetotaler.' What helped him eventually was acceptance: 'Accept that what was once yours is not there now. Also accept how good it was for you when it was there, and how much you will miss it when it isn't.' Has Aamir Khan found peace again in love? Aamir went on to marry filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005, but they too separated in 2021 after nearly 16 years of marriage. Now, at 60, Aamir has introduced a new chapter—Gauri Spratt. In a recent event, he presented her publicly and shared that his family has welcomed her warmly. From battling inner demons to finding love again, Aamir Khan's emotional candour reveals a man unafraid to show his flaws, proving that even perfectionists bleed.
