PC denies losing control in Manchester Airport brawl, trial hears

He said the mother grabbed his left leg, and when he tried to remove her grip she "clamped" onto his left hand pulling him forward."I was being pulled over Mr Amaaz and at risk of falling on top of him and being vulnerable," he said.Mr Khan said: "She was concerned for Mr Amaaz. She was not a threat. She was not interfering with anything you were doing and this was conduct, I suggest, where you have lost control."PC Marsden said: "I would deny that."
'Beyond reasoning'
Mobile phone footage was also played to the jury of PC Marsden later using Pava spray on a bystander who he said was effectively "shielding" another man who officers wanted to detain for obstructing their duties.PC Marsden told the court he did this because events were "beyond verbal reasoning".The officer was then seen to grab the man around the neck and pull him to the floor, Mr Khan said.Mr Khan said: "How do you justify putting your hands around a man's neck?"PC Marsden said: "Immediately prior, I had been subjected to the most violent assault of my life."I was now terrified that we are on the tipping point of another volatile situation. They were complicit in watching us being violently assaulted."I used pre-emptive force. I was in pain, exhausted and wanted to try the best I could to effect an arrest."When Mr Khan asked if the bystander was doing anything that required Pava spray in the face, PC Marsden said he was concerned that he would be "combative" which could lead to another "hostile fight".Mr Amaaz is alleged to have assaulted PC Marsden and PC Lydia Ward, causing them actual bodily harm.He is also accused of the assault of PC Ellie Cook and the earlier Starbucks assault of Abdulkareem Ismaeil.Mr Amaad is alleged to have assaulted PC Marsden, causing actual bodily harm.Both men, from Rochdale, Greater Manchester, deny the allegations.

Two arrests over student's murder in Cambridge
Two men have been arrested in connection with a student's murder. The 20-year-old, who attended the EF International Language Campuses Cambridge, was assaulted and later pronounced dead on Friday evening. Police were called to Mill Park in Cambridge at 11.27pm on Friday as witnesses described hearing 'screaming'. On Saturday, Cambridgeshire Police said a 21-year-old man from Cambridge had been arrested on suspicion of murder and a 50-year-old man, also from the city, was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both men remain in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station. EF International Language Campuses Cambridge said it understood the attack was 'carried out by a member of the public in an isolated incident'. Floral tributes have been left at the scene for the 20-year-old, who is yet to be named, while EF said it was 'deeply saddened by the loss'. EF International Language Campuses Cambridge told The Telegraph: 'We are deeply saddened to confirm that one of our adult students was fatally injured last night in a public space. 'Emergency services responded immediately, but the student tragically passed away. 'We are working closely with the local police, who are investigating the incident and have confirmed they made arrests. 'The safety and wellbeing of our students is our top priority. We are providing support to all students and staff affected by this tragic event and have organised counselling sessions. 'Our thoughts are with the student's loved ones during this incredibly difficult time, and we have offered our full support. 'We will not be commenting further while the investigation is ongoing.' Det Insp Dale Mepstead, of the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire Major Crime Unit, said: 'The investigation remains ongoing, and we continue to urge anyone with information who has not yet come forward to contact us.'

Desperate search for missing teen last seen in historic town two days ago as anyone who sees her urged to call cops
COPS have launched a desperate appeal to find a missing teenager who was last seen two days ago. Alishea, 17, was reported missing from Mansfield, Nottinghamshire, on Thursday evening. The teen is described as being 5ft 4in with long, light brown hair. It is believed she was wearing a black puffer jacket, leggings and black trainers when she disappeared. Nottinghamshire Police confirmed that she was last seen in the area at around 6pm. A statement from the force said: "Have you seen missing Alishea? "We are concerned for her safety and urgently want to hear from anyone who has seen her. "Alishea was reported missing from Mansfield area having last been seen on 31/07/2025 at approximately 18:00 hours "Alishea is 17 years of age and is described as 5 ft 4 inch, long straight light brown hair, wearing leggings, black trainers, white t-shirt and a black puffa jacket. Tom Holland's stunt double was seen hard at work on Saturday as Glasgow was transformed into New York City to film the upcoming Spider-Man movie. Tom Holland and Zendaya will be returning to screen for their fourth Spider-Man movie, titled Brand New Day, which is slated for release in July 2026. Fans have already been waiting four years to the follow-up to Spider-Man: No Way Home, and as filming finally kicked off, some very dramatic scenes were seen being filmed. A stunt double for leading actor Tom, 29 - who plays Peter Parker - was strapped to the roof of a moving vehicle, with excitement gearing up for the superhero venture. The nail-biting stunts were performed on top of a tank, with rehearsals taking place ahead of the scenes being filmed. The cast and crew were hard at work as they seemed to be planning some daredevil manoeuvres for the action film. A blacked-out Mercedes 4x4 AMG was seen guarding the area as they drove through the Scottish city. US flags have been erected on the sides of buildings while bright yellow taxis have been parked up in the city as Glasgow has been turned into New York City for filming. According to The Sun, producers planned to film in Liverpool but changed location following the devastating parade crash in the city on May 26, which left 109 people injured. Paul Doyle, 53, appeared in court earlier this month charged with seven offences including dangerous driving and causing grievous bodily harm with intent. In light of the crash, producers reportedly made the decision to relocate filming to Glasgow to be respectful to those affected by the incident. 'There were discussions about whether it was appropriate to stage big stunts, including car chases and explosions, in light of the awful incident,' a source told the publication. 'Filming is due to start in the coming days in Scotland so fans should keep their eyes peeled for webs on street corners.' A number of major roads will be closed in Glasgow over the coming days as production takes over the city, according to the Herald. Leading stars Tom and Zendaya, 28, were already in Scotland ahead of filming after shooting for Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey in the country earlier this month.
