New York Giants are one of NFL's best drafting teams since 2020, model shows
The New York Giants have not had much success since the new millennium began, winning just 33.9 percent of their games, which is 29th out of 32 teams over that span.
Yes, they have won two Super Bowls in this millennium but, overall, they've been bad a lot more times than they've been good. After qualifying for the postseason seven times between 2000-2011, they've only done it twice since.
They have lost 10 or more games in nine of their last 11 seasons, including last year's 3-14 showing.
As a result, they've been selecting high in the draft. They've had a top-10 pick in eight of the last 11 NFL drafts. That is the only highlight of the last 15 seasons. Their top picks, for the most part, have not panned out.
Things are improving, however. Since 2020, the Giants have been one of the better drafting teams in the NFL, based on a model used by Gridiron Gang.
The Giants have hit on several first-round picks, most notably Odell Beckham Jr., Saquon Barkley, Dexter Lawrence, Andrew Thomas, and, further back, Jeremy Shockey, Jason Pierre-Paul, and Hakeem Nicks.
Since 2020, their first-round picks have been: Andrew Thomas, Kadarius Toney, Kayvon Thibodeaux, Evan Neal, Deonte Banks, Malik Nabers, and Abdul Carter.
But it has been their Day 2 and 3 performance that has sunk them. They rarely find gems in the mind and late rounds. They have been notoriously bad at the draft table after Day 1, which explains the lack of depth -- and talent -- in recent years.
Since 2020, and more recently since Joe Schoen took over as general manager in 2022, the Giants' draft picks are making the roster and even getting contract extensions.

The highest possible overall rating in the iconic video game is 99. In Madden 25, players like Lamar Jackson, Derrick Henry, Justin Jefferson, Travis Kelce, and Trent Williams all earned that score. Not many fans have weighed in yet, as Madden 26 doesn't launch until August 14. In a June 5 article, Hunter rated himself at least an 85. Chad 'Ochocinco' Johnson, a former NFL receiver and one of EA Sports' live ratings adjusters, was more like nah. 'The best I could do for you as a rookie coming into the league … I give you a 76,' Johnson told the Jaguars' top draft pick. Sanders happened to be Hunter's head coach and mentor in college, at Jackson State and then at Colorado. The Jacksonville coaching staff is more concerned with how the flesh-and-blood Travis Hunter plays, and so far, are giving him high ratings for his play on both sides of the ball. 'It takes a really sharp person to be able to do that,' Jags defensive coordinator Anthony Campanile said. 'He's blessed with a lot of intelligence and maturity. It's impressive to watch.' 'I've been doing it my whole life,' Hunter said after Wednesday's minicamp, in which he only played offense. In 11-on-11 drills, Hunter caught a touchdown pass against cornerback Tyson Campbell. HONOLULU (KHON2) — Many are excited and ready for the NFL's Los Angeles Rams to host their summer mini-camp in Wailuku next week. Officials hope this showcases how these partnerships can give a much-needed boost to our tourism industry. The Yaroshuk family hasn't been to Hawaii in 18 years. So they're soaking up every minute they can. The Los Angeles Rams are heading to Maui next summer 'Just a nice getaway,' said Lina Yaroshuk, a visitor from Toronto. 'Just 10 days away from the usual you know, people wanna go somewhere on holidays where they can just relax, do some hiking, you know visit some areas you haven't seen in a while.' They're not the only ones returning to the islands this summer. The Los Angeles Rams are ready for their Maui mini-camp next week. 'Let's not kid ourselves, we're not getting anything football wise done, but it'll be a cool trip to be able to connect, so we'll enjoy it and look forward to it next week,' said Sean Mcvay, Los Angeles Rams head coach.'Every time we have something big come to the state, whether it's a training camp for a football or a concert, revenue generally rises because many people from around the country fly over,' said Rep.
