Talking about alternative fuel vehicles, his garage also had an Aston Martin DB6 Volante, which uses bioethanol as a fuel. The latest in the list will be Eletre. However, it is not confirmed if it is the Eletre, Eletre S, or Eletre R.
The Eletre and Eletre S are equipped with a 603 hp dual-motor system, offering a range of 600km. In contrast, the Eletre R boasts a 905 hp dual-motor configuration with a 2-speed transmission, achieving a maximum range of 490 km. The torque figures stand at 710 Nm for the former and 985 Nm for the latter, with acceleration from 0 to 100 kmph in 4.5 seconds for the Eletre and Eletre S, and in just 2.95 seconds for the high-performance R model.
All variants come with all-wheel drive and active air suspension as standard features. Additionally, there's a selection of five driving modes along with a torque vectoring system. The Eletre R also includes a handling pack, carbon fibre components, gloss black wheels, and high-performance tires as standard.
Each of the three versions is powered by a 112kWh battery that can be charged from 10% to 80% in just 20 minutes when using a rapid charger. A 22kWh AC charger is also included as standard equipment. The SUV was launched in the Indian market in 2023 with a starting price of Rs 2.55 crore (ex-showroom).

Fresher hiring intent slips to 70% in H2
Agencies India Inc's appetite for fresh talent is showing signs of cooling. Overall, fresher hiring intent has dipped to 70% for the July-December period, marking a 4 percentage point decline from 74% seen in the first half of the year, according to the latest TeamLease EdTech Career Outlook Report (HY2 2025) released on report, which surveyed 1,065 employers between May and July, attributes the moderation in demand to a mix of AI-led workforce restructuring, global trade uncertainties, and a sharper focus on retaining experienced employees in core industries. Hiring intent represents the percentage of employers likely to recruit staff during the six months under consideration. Despite the overall slowdown, industry-level momentum remains strong, with ecommerce and technology startups leading the charge. The sector posted the highest intent to hire freshers at 88%, followed by retail (87%) and manufacturing (82%). "The strong hiring intent in ecommerce and technology startups reflects the dynamic growth in this sector, creating exciting opportunities for freshers," said Shantanu Rooj, founder, TeamLease Bangalore tops the charts with 81% hiring intent, followed by Mumbai (67%) and Chennai (59%). Smaller organisations continue to display a stronger inclination to hire freshers compared to larger enterprises, though their overall capacity remains also highlighted the growth of apprenticeship models: "The rise in degree apprenticeship programs further underscores the demand for practical, skill-based learning pathways."The survey found that demand for degree apprenticeships is steadily rising, with manufacturing (37%), engineering & infrastructure (29%), and information technology (18%) showing the highest intent. Bengaluru, Chennai, and Pune lead apprenticeship hiring among cities. Among job roles, positions such as IoT engineer, cloud engineer, process automation analyst, junior NLP developer, content marketing executive, and junior actuarial analyst are in high demand. Britain agrees to drop mandate for Apple to provide 'back door'
Representative Image SAN FRANCISCO: The Trump administration has reached an agreement with Britain to spare Apple from a request that the company create a tool to give British law enforcement organisations access to customers' cloud data. Tulsi Gabbard, US director of national intelligence, said Monday night that Britain had "agreed to drop its mandate for Apple to provide a 'back door' that would have enabled access to the protected encrypted data of American citizens and encroached on our civil liberties." Britain's decision to back off the policy comes after Apple spent months lobbying officials in Washington and rolled back an encrypted storage feature for British users. In the face of govt pressure around the world, the company has been resolute that it won't create a back door that allows access to phones or encrypted user data because it is afraid such a tool could be abused. Much of Apple's predicament in Britain played out in private after the govt issued a secret order this year. The request came after Britain amended its Investigatory Powers Act of 2016, which allows it to compel companies to turn over data and communications to law enforcement and intelligence agencies. Apple helped make the secret order public by declaring in Feb that iPhone users in Britain would begin seeing messages on their phones saying the company no longer offered its Advanced Data Protection feature. The capability, which remained available in the US, had allowed British users to encrypt almost all of their iCloud data, including messages,notes, photos and backups. UP govt signs MoU with UK for Chevening scholarship for study at Britain's top varsities
The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the United Kingdom's Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) for the 'Chevening-Atal Bihari Vajpayee Uttar Pradesh State Government Scholarship Scheme' under which five meritorious students from the state will pursue master's degrees at Britain's leading universities every year. The agreement was signed in Lucknow by British High Commissioner to India, Lindy Cameron, in the presence of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The UP Cabinet had recently approved the proposal for the scholarship scheme. Speaking on the occasion, Chief Minister Adityanath said this scholarship scheme will serve as a powerful platform to transform the state's education system and prepare the youth for global leadership roles. The scheme, he emphasised, aimed to enable meritorious students to achieve excellence in education, research, and leadership at the international level. The programme will commence from the academic session 2025-26 and run for three years, with the possibility of renewal from the 2028-29 session. The CM urged the students to 'seize this opportunity and enhance the pride of both the state and the country'. The scholarship covers tuition, examination and research fees, living allowances, and airfare to and from the UK. The total cost per student is estimated to be £38,048 to £42,076 (Rs 45–48 lakh), with the state government contributing around £19,800 (Rs 23 lakh) and the remainder funded by the FCDO. The British High Commissioner highlighted that under the scholarship scheme, five students will receive full scholarships to study in the UK each year for the next three years. This initiative reflects the strengthening ties between India and the UK, an official statement said, adding this comes in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's recent visit to the UK, where he had signed the Trade Agreement and Vision 35, opening new avenues for business and education. On August 7, the state Cabinet had given nod to the draft proposal titled 'Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee-Chevening Uttar Pradesh State Government Scholarship Scheme'. The government then announced that the scholarship will provide for students' stay and study at top UK institutions like the universities of Oxford, Cambridge, Edinburgh, and the Landon School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). UP Higher Education Minister Yogendra Upadhyay then had stated the scheme will be renewed or extended thereafter. He had also said the funding will be equally shared by the state government and FCDO. The state government has cleared Rs 2 crore for the current financial year for the programme, it is learnt.
