Kid Cudi ‘hated every minute' of testifying in Diddy's trial but wanted to ‘support' ex Cassie Ventura
The renowned rapper and actor – whose real name is Scott Mescudi – publicly recounted for the first time his experience in Manhattan federal court on the 'Call Her Daddy' podcast, telling host Alex Cooper he only testified against the Bad Boy Records founder because he was subpoenaed.
'I was just there because I had to be,' Mescudi, 41, said on Wednesday's episode.

'At first they asked, and I said no. They asked again, I said no. Then I got subpoenaed, and I was like, 'F–k! S–t! No!' But I hated every minute of it. I did not want to do it but then I thought about when I was up there, you know, I'm here to support Cassie [Ventura].'
The musician alleged in May that Combs was in a jealous rage when he broke into his Hollywood Hills home shortly after learning about his budding relationship with Cassie Ventura, an R&B singer who was the disgraced hip hop mogul's on-and-off again girlfriend, in December 2011.

Mescudi told the jury they had a brief romance during a break in her relationship with Combs, who faced federal charges for forcing his former lovers to live out his degrading sexual fantasies in twisted 'freak offs.'

'In the moment, it was just crazy,' Mescudi told Cooper, as he reflected back on the disturbing time.
'I had a hard time understanding if it was reality. I was like, 'Am I in a movie, what the f–k is going on?''

While the Grammy-winning artist was initially reluctant to testify, he said the 'nightmare' Ventura, 38, endured during her volatile, decade-long relationship with the 'I'll Be Missing You' rapper was all the motivation he needed to stand by her side during the lengthy high-profile trial.

'Cassie is my friend and I love her and I want to see her do well,' Mescudi said, adding how thrilled he was when she married personal trainer Alex Fine and became a mom of three.
'I've always just wanted to see her thrive and do well and be happy, because I know she was living a nightmare. I was there to support her. That's what kind of gave me peace with it when I sat down in that chair.'

Combs, 55, last month was found guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution. He was acquitted on two sex-trafficking charges and one racketeering charge.
He faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced in October.

Kaepernick protested throughout the 2016 season and left the 49ers before the start of the 2017 season. He has not played in the NFL since then. He filed a collusion lawsuit against the NFL, which was settled in 2019. Production on the docuseries began in 2022, but the film reportedly faced delays and issues over the direction of the film.
