Joe Rogan flips the God debate on its head with shocking theory that 'we created him'

Daily Mail2 days ago
Joe Rogan has come to a mind-bending conclusion about life, fearing that humanity has misinterpreted what reality is and we're actually in the process of creating God.
While interviewing computer scientist Roman Yampolskiy on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, the men debated the possibility that reality is a giant simulation and humans are building a God-like supercomputer using artificial intelligence (AI).
According to Rogan's theory, humanity has misinterpreted ancient prophecies regarding the second coming of Jesus Christ and Judgement Day, saying the creation of this AI super intelligence is the final chapter before our reality resets.
'This whole idea of Jesus coming back, well maybe it's real. Maybe we just completely misinterpreted these ancient scrolls and texts and what it really means is that we are going to give birth to this,' Rogan explained.
Yampolskiy, an author and researcher in AI safety, added to Rogan's theory, suggesting that reality is just an ongoing cycle of Big Bangs - the explosion that kickstarted the universe - starting and restarting life over and over again.
During the episode released on July 3, Rogan added that he feared God 'is actually created by human beings creating this infinitely intelligent thing that can essentially harness all of the available energy and power of the universe and create anything it wants.'
Yampolskiy even contended that many of the religions around the world have one thing in common: 'What they all agree on is that there is [a] super intelligence which created a fake world.'
In previous podcasts episodes this year, Rogan has repeatedly warned that AI was just years away from reaching a God-like state as more tech companies pour resources into its development.
Rogan suggested that people have misinterpreted events like the second coming of Jesus Christ, claiming that humans would create the intelligence they believed was returning from heaven
Rogan asked Yampolskiy if the physical world we see was created by God, then what existed before this all-powerful being created the human race.
'Ideas, just information,' the computer scientist replied during the podcast.
'Just God. God was bored And it was like, let's make some animals that can think and solve problems. And for what reason?' Rogan countered.
That's when the podcast host theorized life was an ongoing simulation and people had the idea of God's return to Earth backwards, claiming that people would summon this powerful intelligence themselves through the creation of AI.
The theory that all life exists within a computer simulation has been debated for decades, and it's even been entertained in blockbuster movies like 'The Matrix.'
While Rogan suggested that deepfakes of Bigfoot, UFOs, and other impossible images could be proof we're living in a virtual reality, scientists have argued that there is more basic evidence that this world is not real.
Melvin Vopson, an associate professor in physics at the University of Portsmouth, has argued that gravity may be a sign that we're all living in a virtual simulation.
According to Vopson's new paper in AIP Advances, our universe is the 'ultimate computer' and gravity's pull on Earth and in outer space is the computer trying to keep its vast amount of data organized.
As for who's running the simulation, Yampolskiy explained that one possibility is life as we know it could simply be a replay of past events being examined by the future human race.
Rogan then asked Yampolskiy why an all-powerful AI would even bother creating a reality for our consciousnesses to exist in.
Yampolskiy explained that it's impossible to know who is controlling this program, whether it's an alien intelligence, humans from the future, or an AI super intelligence has already been built and is running these simulations by itself.
Therefore, it's also impossible to know why people would be needed in the virtual world, adding that he and Rogan could have had the same interview thousands of times and never knew it was happening.
'Is it entertainment? Is it scientific experimentation? Is it marketing? Maybe somebody managed to control them and [are] trying to figure out what Starbucks coffee sells best. And they need to run [an] earth-sized simulation to see what sells best,' Yampolskiy explained.
'Think about this decade... We're about to invent intelligence and virtual worlds, God-like inventions. We're here. There's a good chance that's not just random,' the AI researcher added, suggesting we're already stuck in a computer simulation.
In any scenario, Rogan theorized that the end of the simulation was nearing as tech giants get closer to creating the all-knowing intelligence which has been foretold in many prophecies.
Whether humanity is already locked in a simulation or we're on the road to creating a God-like intelligence in a self-fulfilling prophecy, Rogan claimed that within 50 to 60 years 'there will be one day a virtual simulation of this reality that's indistinguishable from reality.'

Former 'Love Island USA' contestant Cierra Ortega apologizes for using racial slur

Former 'Love Island USA' contestant Cierra Ortega apologized Wednesday for resurfaced posts where she used a racial slur against Asian people. Just a week before the reality show's finale, Ortega, who was half of one of the season's strongest couples, left the villa after old posts resurfaced that contained the slur. Ortega addressed the entire Asian community in her nearly five minute TikTok video and said she is 'deeply, truly, honestly so sorry.' 'This is not an apology video. This is an accountability video,' Ortega said in the video. 'I had no idea that the word held as much pain, as much harm, and came with the history that it did, or I never would have used it,' Ortega said. 'I had no ill intention when I was using it, but that's absolutely no excuse because intent doesn't excuse ignorance.' Ortega, who has been back in the United States for about 48 hours, said she has struggled most with the backlash experienced by her family, who she said doesn't feel safe in their own home, and have had immigration authorities called on them. 'There's no need to fight hate with hate. I don't think that that's justice," Ortega said. "And if you want to know that you're heard and that I'm sorry and that I will move differently, I promise you, that's what will happen.' Ortega's removal from the villa was announced early in Sunday's episode. Host Iain Stirling said she had left 'due to a personal situation.' 'I completely agree with the network's decision to remove me from the villa. I think that this is something that deserved punishment and the punishment is absolutely been received,' Ortega said. Her video made no mention of her 'Love Island' partner, Nic Vansteenberghe.

Brad Pitt's daughter Shiloh is a dead ringer for mom Angelina Jolie in one of her biggest film roles

Shiloh Jolie looked shockingly like her mother Angelina Jolie from one of her highest-grossing films when she was spotted in Los Angeles on Wednesday. The 19-year-old nepo baby was seen taking a call after dropping by Saint Coffee Shop to make a to-go order. Although she also displays a strong resemblance to her father, Brad Pitt, Shiloh could have been her mother's clone after stepping out in a black beanie that made her look like Angelina's eponymous character in the 2010 film Salt. Her mother wore the beanie in the blockbuster as he character was trying to stay under the radar and evade CIA agents and law enforcement in the wake of an assassination attempt on a Russian politician. And the low-key cap, combined with Shiloh's strikingly defined features, made her look just like a younger version of the 50-year-old actress. The eye-catching outing follows a sighting earlier this year when Shiloh sported braids that made her look like a dead ringer for her mother's role as Laura Croft in the original Tomb Raider films. Shiloh covered up her blond hair with the black knit cap, and she paired it with a casual charcoal-colored long-sleeve shirt. She stuck to the muted color scheme with black sweatpants and matching Crocs. Angelina starred in Salt as Evelyn Salt, a CIA officer who is suspected of being a Russian spy amid mysterious assassination attempts on Russian politicians and the president of the United States. The movie received mostly positive reviews and finished a strong second at the box office in its opening weekend behind Christopher Nolan's Inception. Despite performing well with a global box-office haul of $293.5 million and setting itself up for a sequel, the series was never continued, and the film's cultural impact seems to have faded since then. Angelina's role was the biggest source of critical plaudits, with many reviewers praising her action skills in a part that was originally intended for Tom Cruise before Salt was rewritten to make the title character a woman. The film was released five years into the actress and filmmaker's relationship with Brad Pitt, which began in the wake of the 2005 film Mr. & Mrs. Smith, and four years before their 2014 marriage. The relationship ended not long after they finally tied the knot with Jolie filing for divorce in 2016, just days after an infamous incident aboard a private jet in which she accused Brad of being physically and verbally abusive toward her and her children while intoxicated. Shiloh could have been her mother's clone after stepping out in a black beanie that made her look like Angelina's eponymous character in the 2010 film Salt. Her mom wore the beanie in the blockbuster as he character tired to evade law enforcement after an assassination attempt on a Russian politician Earlier this month, it was reported that Shiloh's estranged father Brad is trying to move forward with his life despite lingering regrets. The 61-year-old actor — whose home was recently burglarized while he was away promoting his new blockbuster racing drama F1 — is still haunted by his 'biggest regret' in the wake of his divorce from Angelina, a source told Us Weekly last week. 'The divorce is something that had been controlling his life for so many years,' they said. 'He loved her and he knows he made mistakes.' Among those is his damaged relationship with his children, which the source claimed was unrepairable. has contacted Pitt's representative for comment. The insider went on to describe Pitt and Jolie's eight-year-long divorce proceedings as 'such a divisive, toxic situation.' The former couple share six children: Maddox, 23; Pax, 21; Zahara, 20; Shiloh, 19; and 16-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. In the wake of their separation and divorce, Brad's relationship with his children began to suffer. The source indicated that events preceding the split — like the plane altercation — and the subsequent rancorous court battle 'turned the kids against him as well,' though they noted that the Tree Of Life star 'doesn't blame [Jolie] for everything.' Although Pitt reportedly hopes to save his relationship with his children, a source previously revealed to why he sees his relationship with his children as 'unfixable.' Us Weekly's source said his 'biggest regret is he can't repair [his relationship with his kids],' adding, 'The case is over but there are no winners.' While it was a 'relief' to finally be done with the divorce proceedings, the source added that its 'lasting impact is something he's going to live with forever. Putting the divorce behind him was also an imperfect consolation, as it has 'been hard for him because he doesn't have a great relationship with his kids.' Pitt's strained relationship with his children was epitomized by his daughter Shiloh's petition in court to drop his last name in August 2024. His daughter Zahara has also referred to herself since going to college only by her mother's last name, and his daughter Vivienne used only 'Jolie' for her last name when she was credited in Playbill for her work assisting her mother in producing the Broadway musical The Outsiders. The oldest two, his adopted sons Maddox and Pax, have been particularly vocal about their distaste for their father. Pitt's strained relationship with his children was epitomized by his daughter Shiloh's petition in court to drop his last name in August 2024. Zahara and Vivienne have also dropped his name in public; Shiloh, Angelina and Zahara pictured in 2019 in Rome In May, while speaking with GQ, Brad was asked if he and Ines had chosen to make their public debut at the British Grand Prix in July 2024 in order to help promote his upcoming film F1. 'No, dude, it's not that calculated,' he responded; seen June 23 in London Pitt still has visitation with his youngest twins as part of his custody agreement with Jolie because they are under 18, but he reportedly rarely sees his adult children. Despite his damaged relationship with his children, the Oscar winner has reportedly managed to find a new balance thanks to his focus on sobriety, which he turned to after his split from Jolie. 'Ever since he stopped drinking, everything has changed,' the source claimed. But they also noted that his ex-wife 'is still not in a place where she is going to forgive him or ever will.' Pitt previously admitted that he 'needed rebooting' after his marriage came crashing down, which led him to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings. 'I was trying anything and everyone, anything anyone threw at me. It was a difficult time,' he said on the June 23 episode of Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast. 'I needed to wake the f*** up in some areas.' Since moving on from Jolie, Pitt began dating Ines de Ramon, 32, from whom he has lately been inseparable. In May, while speaking with GQ, Brad was asked if he and Ines had chosen to make their public debut at the British Grand Prix in July 2024 in order to help promote his upcoming film F1. 'No, dude, it's not that calculated,' he responded. 'If you're living — oh my God, how exhausting would that be? If you're living with making those kinds of calculations? No, life just evolves. Relationships evolve,' he said, before noting that he had spent most of his public life being scrutinized in the public eye.

The Bachelor alum Bekah Martinez defends going SEVEN years without shaving body hair

The Bachelor #22 alum Bekah Martinez clapped back at a troll who said her fiancé of three years, Grayston Leonard, 'must be grossed out' by her hairy legs and arm pits. 'I stopped shaving seven years ago and I still get messages like this all the time,' the 30-year-old reality star - who boasts 1M social media followers - wrote on Tuesday. 'And for the record, Gray went to a liberal arts college in Oregon, so he's had his fair share of gross razor-less women.' Bekah (born Rebekah) went on to explain in her body-positivity Instagram slideshow that 'teachers and coaches would gently tease [me] when any of my jet black leg stubble was growing out' which 'reinforce that my [body] hair was wrong.' Martinez made the decision to go all-natural in 2018 while she was pregnant with her first child. 'I wanted my daughter (and my future sons) to see that hair on a woman's body is normal. Not shameful. Not gross,' the Bekah & Friends podcaster explained. 'I wanted to demonstrate that body hair is not "masculine," because I am a woman. And so, my body hair is feminine.' And it wasn't just for her children as Bekah 'wanted to consciously work through the disgust I had in my natural body.' 'I still don't love my body hair,' Martinez confessed. 'In certain settings, I feel people's stares and feel embarrassed. But the feeling has so much less power over me than it used to. And when [my daughter] Ruth points and says, "Mom, my legs look like yours" without any ounce of shame, it is all worth it.' The Bravo-lebrity shares three children - daughter Ruth, 6; son Franklin, 5; and son Ernest, 21 months - with the 35-year-old Long Beach Rising Climbing Gym founder, whom she originally began dating in January 2018. Bekah and Grayston raise rabbits for meat and chickens for eggs in their LA backyard. Martinez last made headlines in 2023 for revealing she was putting her little Ernest 'on the potty' at nine weeks old. Career-wise, the former nanny is every bit the influencer with paid partnerships for brands like Araza Beauty, Brook Linen, Club Med Cancun, Osea Malibu, My Favorite Genes, and Natural Cycles. Bekah made history in 2018 as the first pixie-haired woman to compete on The Bachelor, and she was the seventh contestant eliminated by Arie Luyendyk Jr. in season 22 of the ABC dating competition. The 43-year-old real estate broker went on to marry his runner-up Lauren Burnham in 2019 and they're now proud parents of six-year-old daughter Alessi as well as four-year-old twin sons Senna and Lux. The Bachelor franchise doesn't exactly have the best track record for lasting marriages as only three couples have remained together after 29 seasons. Only four couples remain married from The Bachelorette after 21 seasons while the odds are far better on Bachelor in Paradise where 10 couples remain married after 10 seasons.
