But with the match beginning at 11am, the vast Court Philippe-Chatrier was almost deserted, with many of the French spectators having lunch instead.

Mauresmo said: 'We are aware of this, and we will definitely work on the solutions that we can find for the future.
'In two weeks we have our debrief all together and definitely talk about these subjects and see how we can make it work better.'
The lack of women's matches in the prime-time night sessions remains a hot topic but Mauresmo once again stressed that is purely down to men's best-of-five set matches being longer, ensuring value for money for ticket holders.
'I think we wouldn't be having this conversation if we would have the same format for both games, because in my opinion it's the length or the possible length of the match that is making it hard for us in terms of scheduling,' she added.'

The French Open remains the last of the four grand slams to still use line judges rather than electric line calling, which is currently considered not reliable on clay.
Former Wimbledon champion Mauresmo said the standard of line judging was good at the tournament, but admitted the issue still remains up for discussion.
'Generally speaking, we had a very high level and this is a very great satisfaction for us, because, as you know, we are the last of the Mohicans to some extent with the line judges,' she said.
'We will be looking at it again this year, in what way would there not be line judges next year. I don't really have the answer to that, but we will look at that question.'

Other, unnamed Premier League clubs are also said to be in the mix, though one-time suitors Arsenal are unlikely to return for the Frenchman after previous links, having landed Martin Zubimendi in July. Agoume joined Sevilla from Inter Milan in a cut-price deal in 2024, and was a regular last season as the team narrowly escaped relegation from La Liga. He was also part of the French side which reached the semi-finals of the Under-21 Euros, playing in all but one of their matches and captaining the side against Poland. While Profit and Sustainability Rules make a move for Baleba unlikely this summer, a cheaper option such as Agoume could be the answer. However, much may still depend on sales elsewhere. United have signed off on loan exits for the likes of Marcus Rashford and Toby Collyer, but are still working on permanent exits for some other players. Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund are among those who could yet leave, though United and Chelsea remain at odds over a valuation for the former. There are also questions in the goalkeeper position, as links with Gianluigi Donnarumma persist. The arrival of the Italian might rely on United selling Andre Onana, with Inter Milan said to be interested in bringing the Cameroonian back to the San Siro. Despite losing to Arsenal in their opening league game, United are looking at the positives after a tough end to last season. 'The group, for me, is just, I don't know, there's such a good vibe. We're all invested in something,' forward Joshua Zirkzee told club media. "You can really tell that we really want to make sure that we're not doing what we did last season. Also, outside the pitch, there's some good vibes. We're doing a lot of team bonding. I feel we're much closer than we were last season, and hopefully we can translate all of that onto the pitch and share it with you, you know, the rest of the world who's supporting United.'

Marseille have claimed that the decision was taken as a collective one taken by the club's senior staff, but is not the first time that De Zerbi has taken hard line when it comes to his player's discipline. The French giants explained their extreme decision in a statement on Tuesday. 'Olympique de Marseille announces that Adrien Rabiot and Jonathan Rowe have been placed on the transfer list by the club,' the statement read. 'This decision was taken due to unacceptable behaviour in the dressing room after the match against Stade Rennais FC, in agreement with the technical staff and in accordance with the club's internal code of conduct. The decision was communicated to the two players by the club on Monday.' The row in Marseille the dressing room was heard by journalists and the former Brighton boss made it known that his players had clashed when he addressed the media. Radio station Ici Provence quoted the Italian's translator as he said: 'The others beat us on the pitch and we come back and beat each other here. Do you know what that means? That we have small balls. Whereas in Marseille, we must have big ones.' Marseille finished second last term, but were miles off the pace set by treble winners PSG. The French side added a number of ex-Premier League players this summer with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg signing from Tottenham and Angel Gomes joining from Lille on a free.

An Antiques Roadshow guest shared a 'one-off' photograph of footballer Vinnie Jones and Newcastle United star Paul Gascoigne. WARNING: This article contains spoilers from Antiques Roadshow. An Antiques Roadshow guest and former referee quipped he would have booked Vinnie Jones for "ungentlemanly conduct" after revealing a "one-off" football photograph. The BBC daytime programme visited Wollaton Hall where expert Raj Bisram encountered a guest eager to display a memorable image from the football world. The autographed black and white snap featured Wimbledon player Vinnie Jones grasping Newcastle United legend Paul Gascoigne's testicles during a 1988 fixture. "What an iconic photograph you've brought in," the Roadshow expert declared. The guest revealed: "I was the referee at that match. It was on my birthday, funnily enough. "And it was a first division match between Wimble don and Newcastle United." The guest then admitted: "I have to admit, I did not see that incident." Bisram observed: "I mean, if you had seen that incident, obviously, you would have booked Vinnie Jones? For what?". The visitor chuckled in reply: "Well I suppose it would be for ungentlemanly conduct." He added: "Monty Fresco of the Daily Mirror took that fantastic photograph. "When I retired from work, my colleagues, unbeknown to me, got Jones and Gascoigne to sign it for me." In the left-hand corner, Jones simply wrote to the guest "Be good", while Gascoigne jokingly penned: "Thanks to you, I have lost my family allowance." Wrapping up the appraisal, Bisram revealed: "I guess if you was to put this on the market today, I would be estimating it would be for between £1,000 and £3,000." The guest was left speechless, his jaw dropping at the staggering figures as he bit his lip in anticipation. Bisram added: "I mean, it could go anywhere because it's a one-off. This is one of the most famous photographs of football in history. Thanks for bringing it in."
