while attempting a reverse sweep off Chris Woakes on Day 1 of the fourth Test at Old Trafford in Manchester.
TimesofIndia.com has learnt that the selectors have reached out to the 29-year-old after Ishan Kishan, who was next in line,
suffered an ankle injury
and was deemed unfit.

Since Jagadeesan does not currently have a visa, it could take a couple of days to process one on priority. Priority applications can be finalised within 48 hours, so it is highly unlikely that he will be able to reach the UK before the end of the ongoing Test match in Manchester.
"Jagadeesan has been training at the Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College (SREC) ground in Coimbatore for the last 10 days," a source tracking the development told Timesofindia.com.

"He was simply working towards his batting and wicket-keeping during this period of time, having batted in the middle-order during the recent edition of Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) as well.
"Jagadeesan got a call in the afternoon from the BCCI, informing him about his selection in the Indian team for the Test tour of England.

The BCCI has obtained all the necessary details from Jagadeesan like his shirt number.
"He is simply waiting for his visa at this point of time. All other formalities have been cleared.
"Jagadeesan was very happy following his selection in the squad. However, he is simply going through his normal routine at this point of time. Jagadeesan came for his regular practice session after getting the news update and went through the drills."

BCCI had already made it clear that he won't don the gloves
.
"Rishabh Pant, who sustained an injury to his right foot on Day 1 of the Manchester Test, will not be performing wicket-keeping duties for the remainder of the match. Dhruv Jurel will assume the role of wicket-keeper," BCCI said in a statement.
"Despite his injury, Rishabh Pant has joined the team on Day 2 and will be available to bat as per team requirements."

He opened up about what went wrong in their five-year marriage and spoke about his mental health struggles after facing cheating allegations amid divorce rumours earlier this year. Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma got divorced earlier this year, in May(dhanashree9/Instagram) Chahal and Dhanashree married in 2020, but cracks in the relationship began to show by the third year of marriage. Speaking to Raj Shamani on his YouTube channel, the 35-year-old revealed that the two had chosen to keep their separation process private until it was finalised. "It was going on for a long while. We decided we do not want to show the people. Who knew if it did not happen? Maybe it will become a different scenario. We were like until we reached a point of no return, we are not going to say anything. We will be like a normal couple on social media," said Chahal. When pressed about whether he was faking it at that time, Chahal nodded his head, implying, 'Yes.' 'Suicidal thoughts' Chahal admitted that facing public scrutiny and his personal struggles at the same time took a serious toll on his mental health. He revealed that he went through sleepless nights, slipped into depression, and even had suicidal thoughts. "I had suicidal thoughts, I was tired of my life, I used to cry for 2 hours. I used to sleep just for 2 hours. It went for 40-45 days. I wanted a break from cricket. I was so busy in cricket. I was not able to concentrate. I used to sleep for 2 hours. Used to share suicidal thoughts with my friend. I used to get scared," he said.

Kumar Dharmasena slammed for ‘second nature habits' after DRS review controversy, Indian umpire rushes to his defence
Day 1 of the ongoing fifth and final India vs England Test match was action-packed in London, filled with its fair share of spice, drama and entertainment. The ongoing series has been filled controversies, and one such occured on Thursday, and this time the spotlight fell on umpire Kumar Dharmasena. The Sri Lankan made a huge error, which saw England avoid wasting a DRS review against India's Sai Sudharsan. Kumar Dharmasena was involved in a DRS review controversy. The controversy happened in the second delivery of the 13th over, with Josh Tongue sending an inswinging yorker, which took the Gujarat Titans batter by surprise. He tried to defend, but then lost his balance and fell to the ground, and the ball struck him low on the pad. England began to scream for a LBW, but then Dharmasena shook his head, signalling an inside-edge with his finger. The gesture saw England not go for the review. Sanjay Bangar slams Kumar Dharmasena Dharmasena's major blunder left former India cricketer Sanjay Bangar enraged. Speaking on Star Sports, he lashed out at the umpire and stated that he 'should not have done that'. 'These habits don't go away easily for umpires because it's second nature to them.
