Former Colorado Buffaloes soccer star Phoenix Dawn Miranda is a feared defender on the pitch with a jam-packed list of accolades, but is now embarking on another major accomplishment: her Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut.
Originally from Hawaii, Miranda made an instant impact at the University of Colorado upon her arrival in 2021, after three years on the U.S Youth National Team. She would then take home Newcomer of the Year honors in her first season as a member of the Buffaloes.

SI Swimsuit editor in chief MJ Day discussed why each model was selected and the reason for continuing the longstanding tradition that has disrupted the media space.
"These women are why we do what we do," Day wrote."These stories we share here and on our platforms are about so much more than what meets the eye. They are about the power of authenticity, the strength of vulnerability and the beauty of living a life that's unapologetically yours."

Over the course of a successful college career, Miranda played in 29 career shutouts, including 11 in her senior season.
Miranda was ranked No. 82 in Top Drawer Soccer's midseason Top 100 rankings of 2024. This was in large part to her career-high 21 starts during her final season, which included 1,685 minutes of play.
As she showed in her dazzling Sports Illustrated Swimsuit debut, Miranda is far from one-dimensional. Upon recently graduating from the University of Colorado, Miranda majored in Ethnic Studies.
Miranda plans to play professionally for the Seattle Reign FC in the National Women's Soccer League after graduation. She was recently extended a non-roster invite to training camp at the end of February.
As a defender, Miranda didn't get many opportunities to score, but her first one of her collegiate career came at the perfect time.
In 2023, the Aiea, Hawaii native kicked a game-winner against Northern Colorado in the season opener. She would earn her fifth career assist a year later, her senior season, in a decisive 2-1 victory over Utah in a Big 12 Tournament game.
Miranda will hopefully continue playing soccer professionally after such a solid foundation with her career in Colorado, but for now, she is sure to impress with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit.

Will Lil Wayne Make a Stop For Deion Sanders, Colorado on 'Tha Carter VI' Tour?

Will Lil Wayne Make a Stop For Deion Sanders, Colorado on 'Tha Carter VI' Tour? originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Lil Wayne is releasing his new album, Tha Carter VI, and announced 36 dates on his upcoming tour. The series of stops serve as a celebration of all of the rapper's Carter albums over the past two decades. It kicks off this week at Madison Square Garden in New York City and wraps up Oct. 2 in West Palm Beach, Fla. One of the noticeable omissions in the tour schedule was no stops in Colorado, which begs the question about a possible secret show coming at the University of Colorado in Boulder? Deion Sanders and the Buffs have welcomed Lil Wayne to campus several times and his agency now represents both Travis Hunter and Shedeur Sanders. While Young Money is set to handle all of Hunter's on-field representation, he will reportedly remain with SMAC Entertainment for his off-field representation. It's the same agency that helped him secure NIL deals during his time at Colorado, including a major deal with Grammy Award-Winning rapper performed a sold out show at CU Events Center before the 2024 spring game and was on hand for a few games last year. Shedeur opened for him with his hit 'Perfect Timing'. Wayne was with Hunter in New York for his historic Heisman win and was also invited to the wedding for the two-way Jacksonville Jaguars' star last clear there is interest for Lil Wayne to bring his show back to Boulder. Whether that will come on this cycle or not will be a surprise. This story was originally reported by Athlon Sports on Jun 3, 2025, where it first appeared.

ESPN FPI Gives Deion Sanders, Colorado No Chance To Win CFP National Championship

ESPN FPI Gives Deion Sanders, Colorado No Chance To Win CFP National Championship originally appeared on Athlon Sports. In his first two seasons as head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes, Deion Sanders has done a solid job, going 4-8 in 2023 and then an astounding 9-4 in 2024, which marked their first winning season since 2016 (excluding 2020). Advertisement Even throughout the offseason, his impact is felt, as the Buffaloes have landed a total of 30 players in the transfer portal, per On3. However, even as the program continues to improve and a handful of talented players join the roster, their ability to compete for the ultimate prize remains limited and in ESPN's FPI, a predictive rating system, it gives Colorado a 0% chance to win the national championship. Of course, for as much success as they've had bringing players in from the portal, they've also felt the negative effects from it, which includes losing a total of 37 players, which as of now is tied for the third-most of any Big 12 program. Colorado Buffaloes head coach Deion J. Downing-Imagn Images There's no doubt they're also going to be feeling the effects of having several players make the leap to the NFL, including quarterback Shedeur Sanders, two-way star Travis Hunter and wide receivers Jimmy Horn Jr. and LaJohntay Wester. Advertisement They also have several unanswered questions, with one of the biggest being trying to figure out Sanders' successor, as a two-way battle has been brewing between freshman Julian Lewis and Liberty transfer Kaidon Salter. Even despite having the fifth easiest remaining strength of schedule in the Big 12, they still go up against some of the conference's biggest juggernauts, including BYU (Sept. 27), Arizona State (Nov. 22) and Kansas State (Nov. 29), where they will be truly tested if still in college football playoff contention. In order to even be close to that, though, Sanders and the Buffaloes need to start the season off on a good note, which may be tough in a Week 1 matchup against Georgia Tech, where ESPN BET has Colorado at 3.5-point underdogs.
