Taylor Swift Explains Why She Chose Orange for Her 'The Life of a Showgirl' Era
Taylor Swift revealed the release date and 12-song tracklist for The Life of a Showgirl during her New Heights appearance this evening. She also demystified one other choice she made for her new era: its color.
Jason Kelce, Travis Kelce's the older brother and New Heights co-host, asked Swift why she picked orange. 'I've just always liked it, Jason,' she responded. 'It feels like kind of energetically how my life has felt. And this album is about what was going on behind the scenes in my inner life during this [Eras] Tour, which was so exuberant and electric and vibrant.'
She told Jason and her boyfriend, Travis, that she started hinting at her new era during her final concert when she exited through an orange door.
'I was pretty happy that [my fans] noticed that,' she said. 'I was like, trained them well.'
She explained the symbolism of that choice: 'I would leave the stage every night going down the elevator lift. That's how every single Eras Show ended, except for one, except for the last one, where I exited through a door, an orange door to be specific. And that actually was an Easter egg. Basically, the reason why I chose to exit that way is because I kind of wanted to give a little subliminal hint to the fans that I may be leaving the Eras Tour era, but I was also entering a new era.'
Earlier in the episode, Swift explained how she approaches Easter eggs—and why they never point to her life outside of work.
'The art of the Easter egg is that there's do's and don'ts, right?' she said. 'Like, I'm never going to plant an Easter egg that ties back to my personal life. It's always going to be towards music or...something I'm coming up with, something I have coming up, a plan I have coming together. Something that you don't know I'm saying for a specific reason that you'll hear later, and you'll go back and be like, 'Oh my god.''
She added that she's drawn to numerology, saying, 'I love math stuff. I love dates.' She pointed out that even she and Travis, whose jersey number is 87, have a special numeric connection: her favorite number, 13, and 87 add up to 100. They're 'numbers that have a specific significance,' she said.

All the Rumors Around Taylor Swift's New Movie So Far
THE RUNDOWN In 2022, it was announced that pop star Taylor Swift would be directing her first feature film in partnership with Searchlight Pictures. At the time, the studio said in a statement, 'Taylor is a once in a generation artist and storyteller. It is a genuine joy and privilege to collaborate with her as she embarks on this exciting and new creative journey.' This summer, rumors of new screenwriters joining the project started circulating, but a source speaking to E! News on August 8 debunked them, saying Swift is the sole writer on the project. Here's what we know about Swift's film so far. There have been no announcements about Swift's feature in terms of production. However, fans noticed in August 2025 that a 'Directed Projects' section had appeared on her website, which included a number of music videos Swift wrote and/or directed. It sure seems like the place to make announcements about any other future shorts or features helmed by the 1989 singer. There's not yet any news about the cast, but Swift likes to make surprising choices and seems to have her pick of talent for her music videos. One of her longest directed pieces, the music video and short film for the 10-minute rerecording of 'All Too Well,' starred Teen Wolf's Dylan O'Brien and Stranger Things's Sadie Sink. Not much, but she has discussed directing. After screening the 'All Too Well' short film in 2022 at the Tribeca Film Festival, Swift shared a bit about her process saying, 'I think I gave myself permission to completely make that jump into making a narrative short film because this is not a music video; we approached everything differently. You know, in shooting on 35 millimeter and all the decisions that were made to create these characters and dive into this world.' This post will be updated.

Taylor Swift Reveals New Album ‘The Life of a Showgirl' in Teaser for Travis Kelce's Podcast
Taylor Swift is officially entering her next era, with the superstar announcing her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, during a teaser for an upcoming special episode of Travis and Jason Kelce's New Heights podcast on Wednesday. The new album — her 12th studio effort since her 2006 debut — marks Swift's first new project since releasing The Tortured Poets Department in April 2024. Just over a year later, that album is already six-times-platinum, according to the RIAA, and it was nominated for album of the year at the 67th Grammy Awards. More from The Hollywood Reporter Travis Kelce Admits Hollywood Calling Might Have Hurt His NFL Game Depeche Mode Concert Film Gets October Theatrical Release Date Taylor Swift Confirmed to Make Guest Appearance on Travis Kelce's 'New Heights' Podcast Earlier on Monday, a countdown started on Swift's official website, with it expiring at 12:12 p.m. ET. At that time, a new teaser for the upcoming New Heights episode — which will feature the pop superstar as a guest — dropped on her Instagram. In the clip, Swift, who is sitting next to her boyfriend Travis, tells Jason, 'So I wanted to show you something.' She then whips out a mint green briefcase with her initials written in the color orange on the front. She then confesses, 'This is my brand-new album, The Life of a Showgirl.' Jason then proceeds to yell in excitement, as Travis shouts, 'TS12.' Swift did not share the album's release date, and the cover art was also blurred out in the teaser, leaving room for more surprises. The post also includes the caption,' Posted at 12:12 on the 12th. Tay's 12th album is called………… pre pre-order now at New Heights teased Swift's special appearance on the podcast earlier Monday, confirming a special guest online and posting an anonymous silhouette. The podcast later confirmed in a teaser on Instagram that the singer was, in fact, the special guest on Wednesday's episode. Swift has kept a low profile in 2025 compared to the past several years since she wrapped her record-breaking Eras Tour at the end of 2024. Though she made waves back in May when she announced that she'd finally secured the purchase of the rights to her early master recordings. That ended one of the most contentious disputes in music business history, which had begun when music executive Scooter Braun bought the rights to Swift's first five albums via an acquisition of her former record label Big Machine in 2019. (Braun sold her masters to Shamrock Capital a year later, with Swift making a deal with the company this year.) 'This was a business deal to them, but I really felt like they saw it for what was to me: my memories and my sweat and my handwriting and my decades of dreams,' Swift said of the deal at the time. Still, even as that controversy courted drama, Swift turned it into a lucrative chapter in her career with the 'Taylor's Versions' of her original albums, which helped elevate her superstardom and, in several cases, outsold the originals. Like all of Swift's releases, the new album will almost assuredly be a chart monster as well, as she is perhaps the only artist left in the business who could reliably sell a million units in one week alone. (2022's Midnights debuted with over 1.5 million units sold in its first week, while last year's The Tortured Poets Department opened with a massive 2.6 million units.) Pete Davidson Felt ‘Guilty and Horrible' When Elsie Hewitt Was Forced to Announce Pregnancy
THE RUNDOWN In July, Pete Davidson and girlfriend Elsie Hewitt announced they were expecting their first child together. In an August 13 interview with The Breakfast Club, the Saturday Night Live alum explained how his fame pushed Hewitt to make the announcement and expressed regret over the loss of privacy. 'I feel bad for my girl because I bring a lot of shit,' Davidson admitted. 'Anything I do or she does now is gonna be a thing. She's a very private person and she's the one doing all the work. It's supposed to be a beautiful experience.' The comedian added that he feels a lot of responsibility for the situation even though at this point in his career, the attention is out of his hands and Hewitt doesn't seem to blame him. 'She's never made me feel this way or said anything,' he explained. 'But I feel so guilty and horrible that I could not allow her to have the ideal pregnancy that almost every woman gets to have and enjoy.' The Bupkis star said they 'held off as long as we could' before posting about the pregnancy on Instagram. On July 16, Hewitt shared her sonogram and pics with Davidson, joking in the caption, 'Welp now everyone knows we had sex.' Shortly after, Davidson told E! News, 'I'm very lucky and very, very happy,' adding that he hopes to be able 'to take care of something and show it the childhood I didn't have.' 'I assume you just try to give then what you didn't have, and what you didn't like, not do it,' Davidson continued. 'Everybody's just been super excited for me, because they know it's been my dream. They all just have been like, 'You're going to be great at this. It's the best thing you'll ever do in your life.'' He added, 'It's been really nice that everyone's super excited. When you do something, when we do anything, you want everyone to be excited, especially having a child.'
