Pete Davidson Felt ‘Guilty and Horrible' When Elsie Hewitt Was Forced to Announce Pregnancy

THE RUNDOWN
In July, Pete Davidson and girlfriend Elsie Hewitt announced they were expecting their first child together. In an August 13 interview with The Breakfast Club, the Saturday Night Live alum explained how his fame pushed Hewitt to make the announcement and expressed regret over the loss of privacy.
'I feel bad for my girl because I bring a lot of shit,' Davidson admitted. 'Anything I do or she does now is gonna be a thing. She's a very private person and she's the one doing all the work. It's supposed to be a beautiful experience.'
The comedian added that he feels a lot of responsibility for the situation even though at this point in his career, the attention is out of his hands and Hewitt doesn't seem to blame him.
'She's never made me feel this way or said anything,' he explained. 'But I feel so guilty and horrible that I could not allow her to have the ideal pregnancy that almost every woman gets to have and enjoy.'
The Bupkis star said they 'held off as long as we could' before posting about the pregnancy on Instagram. On July 16, Hewitt shared her sonogram and pics with Davidson, joking in the caption, 'Welp now everyone knows we had sex.'
Shortly after, Davidson told E! News, 'I'm very lucky and very, very happy,' adding that he hopes to be able 'to take care of something and show it the childhood I didn't have.'
'I assume you just try to give then what you didn't have, and what you didn't like, not do it,' Davidson continued. 'Everybody's just been super excited for me, because they know it's been my dream. They all just have been like, 'You're going to be great at this. It's the best thing you'll ever do in your life.''
He added, 'It's been really nice that everyone's super excited. When you do something, when we do anything, you want everyone to be excited, especially having a child.'

NYC's flaccid free-condom program needs to grow again, critics say

City Health Department officials should get on the stick and start providing randy New Yorkers with free condoms again, critics say. The department's rubber shortage has existed for about a year — reportedly because of high demand — prompting its flaccid performance to become the butt of jokes and condemnation, including on a new Instagram account called Hack NY. While the site had been positively plugging free government programs as a public service, it recently posted a video skit featuring Big Apple comedian Ayanna Dookie and Aaron Cohen, an actor with OldJewishMen, targeting the rubberless Department of Health. Advertisement The video shows Dookie waking up startled when she sees the older Cohen sleeping next to her, with her character ending up pregnant. 'This could have been avoided,' the clip's narrator says. 'New York City is supposed to be giving out free condoms, but they're in short supply. Advertisement 'Comment to tell them that we need more [condoms] before you make your next mistake.' New York City residents who currently go to the DOH's web site for free condoms are greeted with this message: 'Due to an overwhelming initial response we have exhausted our inventory far sooner than anticipated. 'We hope to be back up and running shortly – stay tuned and we will see you soon!' the department promises. 3 A new comedy sketch from the Instagram page 'Hack NY' pokes fun at the shortage of free condoms that are supposed to be provided by the city's Department of Health. Instagram/Hack New York Advertisement The DOH includes a 'free condom' map showing the groups and businesses it claims to have distributed free condoms to. But Hack NY said it made random calls to the groups and found that only 33% of the organizations listed on the site had free condoms. Hack NY also asked the Health Department when condoms would be back in full supply, and the agency didn't provide a timeline or answer about the accuracy of its free-condom supply map. 3 The video features actors Ayanna Dookie and Aaron Cohen having an unexpected pregnancy because of the condom shortage. Instagram/Hack New York 3 The video urges viewers to call on city officials to fix the free condom shortage. Instagram/Hack New York Advertisement Matt Wing, a co-founder of Hack NY, said the site decided to pivot to criticizing a city agency 'given that our vet of this one came up short. 'We decided to pivot to encouraging viewers to call out DOH for the shortage in hopes they will feel motivated to increase supply,' Wing told The Post. But the mayor's preliminary management report released in January said 'safer-sex products' including condom distribution, plummeted 21 percent for the first four months of fiscal year 2025 compared to 2024. 'This is due to delays in registering the purchase order (PO) for the NYC Condom Availability Program's new safer-sex product vendor,' the report said. 'Regular monthly distribution resumed at higher levels at the end of September 2024, when the PO was registered.' Advertisement The Health Department told Hack_NY it's in the process of securing a new vendor for the purchase and distribution of condoms and other safer-sex products and is limiting orders to 300 condoms and lubricant packets combined per order per month. The city unveiled its own 'NYC' brand of free condoms in 2007 under then-Mayor Michael Bloomberg – in packets with a variety of colors representing the different subway lines. The Big Apple first started providing male condoms in the city's sexually transmitted disease health clinics in 1971 and were distributed in public high schools in 1991.

Robin Givhan Exits The Washington Post

Robin Givhan on Sunday announced that she took a buyout from The Washington Post, which has been offering packages to tenured staffers who have been at the newspaper for more than 10 years. Givhan, who joined the Post in 1995, served as its premier fashion critic before transitioning to senior critic-at-large in 2020 — where she covered everything from European luxury fashion to the role of personal style in American politics. Givhan briefly decamped to Newsweek as style and culture correspondent from 2010 to 2012 before returning to the Post in 2014. In 2006, Givhan won the Pulitzer Prize for criticism, remaining the only fashion writer to snag the award. In her Instagram post, Givhan said she'll be taking time to resume the tour for her book 'Make It Ours: Crashing the Gates of Culture with Virgil Abloh,' that was released in June and chronicles the rise of the late designer. But she remained coy about her future career plans. 'There's still a lot to be said, and I'm just self-centered enough to believe I'm someone who needs to be heard,' Givhan said in her post. 'So I'm not done. Democracy definitely dies in darkness, but it is gravely wounded by silence.'
