Man beats to death younger brother over unpaid electricity bill dispute in Madhepura
The deceased was identified as Shyam Yadav (40).
According to police, Shyam's elder brother, Umakant Yadav, became enraged during the dispute. In a fit of anger, he along with his in-laws allegedly attacked Shyam with a blunt object, inflicting severe head injuries. Local residents rushed him to the nearby primary health centre (PHC), but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The victim, second among four brothers, had been living in a joint property.
Although the brothers had been living separately for some time, they continued to share a single electricity connection. A dispute arose over an unpaid electricity bill of Rs10,000, said youngest brother, Babloo Yadav. The eldest brother, Umakant Yadav, refused to contribute towards the payment, which led to a heated argument between him and the victim, he said.
Babloo further said that Umakant's wife invited their father and other brothers to her home with the intention of teaching Shyam a lesson.

During the altercation, the victim's mother, Satyabhama Devi, and father, Prayag Yadav, also sustained injuries while trying to protect him. At the time of the incident, the victim was alone at the house as his wife had gone to her parental house to celebrate Raksha Bandhan.
Upon receiving information about the incident, Ghailardh SHO Suraj Kumar Bharti along with police personnel reached the spot and sent the victim's body to Sadar hospital in Madhepura for postmortem. "An appropriate action will be taken against the attackers once a formal complaint is filed by the victim's family," he added.

Dog lovers seek relaxations in curtailing strays
Trichy: Dog lovers from People for Animal Trichy chapter conducted a demonstration near Trichy Junction railway station on Sunday to censure the recent Supreme Court's directive urging the Delhi local body authorities to shift stray dogs to shelters. Expressing apprehensions over Tamil Nadu implementing a similar strategy against strays, the protesters said that animal birth control (ABC) and anti-rabies vaccination (ARV) drives are sufficient to reduce the stray dog population. "Just because of a few dog bite incidents, it is not right for us to punish all dogs. Aggressive dogs can be selectively removed from roads and treated by the local body. Locking all street dogs in a shelter is not practical and cannot be a wise move," Ajay Barath, vice president, People for Animals, Trichy said. Holding placards, the protesters, including women, said that people must come forward to adopt community dogs instead of spending on exotic bred dogs. Stating that there are provisions for initiating mercy killing for rabies infected stray dogs, the protesters claimed that restricting the movement of community dogs within a shelter will be like lodging everyone in prison for the criminal offences committed by a few. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Could This NEW Collagen Blend Finally Reduce Your Cellulite? They also expressed hope that protests organised by dog lovers across the country may tone down the stance of the judiciary in handling stray dogs. Three murders reported in 2 days in city
Surat: The city witnessed three separate murders over two days during the Independence Day and Janmashtami festivities, keeping police on high alert. In the first incident, on Saturday morning, a farmer discovered a body in a drainage channel near Deladva village. Dindoli police identified the victim as 38-year-old Subhash Late, a vegetable broker from Sardar Market and a resident of Parvat Patiya. His body bore multiple stab wounds, and police suspect the killing was linked to personal enmity or relationship issues. A day earlier, a 40-year-old man from the Sachin GIDC area was stabbed to death by his 17-year-old son late on August 15. Police said the minor suspected his father of having an illicit relationship, which had led to frequent arguments. During one such quarrel, the boy fatally stabbed his father in the chest. The third case was reported on Friday night under the Sahara Darwaja overbridge, where 18-year-old Raja Jaiswal of Godadara was killed in his sleep. Police said rickshaw driver Akash Sonavane allegedly slit Raja's throat before fleeing. Investigators believe the attack stemmed from an old feud, as Raja's brother had earlier allegedly stabbed Sonavane during a dispute. Separate cases have been registered at Dindoli, Sachin GIDC, and Mahidharpura police stations. Police teams are investigating all three incidents and searching for the accused in two of the cases. 15-year-old held for raping 11-month-old girl in Baghpat
Meerut: A 15-year-old boy was apprehended for raping an 11-month-old girl in Baghpat, police said on Sunday. The girl was medically examined, which confirmed the assault, and the juvenile was later sent to a correctional home. Police said both the girl and the accused live in the same locality. Her father runs a small grocery shop, while the accused's father is a daily wager. On Thursday, the accused took the child to his house to play. He was known to the family and often played with the child, so her parents didn't object. However, on the day of the incident, the girl's cries alerted them. When they rushed to the spot, the parents found the accused sexually assaulting the child and immediately raised an alarm. Villagers caught the accused on the spot and handed him over to the police. Based on the complaint, an FIR under BNS section 65 (rape) and section 5/6 of the Pocso Act was registered. "The child's condition is stable, and further investigation is underway," said investigating officer Ram Kumar Kuntal. Stay updated with the latest local news from your city on Times of India (TOI).
