This 'Bhoot Bungalow' changed Rajendra Kumar's fate, was lucky for Rajesh Khanna, left Rajesh Khanna crying after…
In the glitzy and glamorous life of Bollywood, its usually the dazzling and picture perfect lives of celebrities that takes the center stage. However, what happens behind the sparkling life, is a lot more than what meets the eye. One such similar tale is of Bollywood's legendary actor who dominated the golden era of Hindi cinema.
The person that we are talking about is none other than Rajendra Kumar, famously known as 'Jubilee Kumar'. He had everything from fame, wealth, to blockbuster success, but despite that, a story of his emotional loss stayed with him in his final days. Rajendra Kumar Film Debut, Early Life, And More
When Rajendra Kumar ventured into the dreamland of Mumbai, he had merely Rs 50 in his pocket. He even sold his father's watch to make ends meet. But through enough dedication and hard work, he started his career assisting director H.S. Rawail. Small roles in films like Jogan and Patanga led him to his big break in Mother India (1957), where his performance caught the audience's attention.
Slowly and gradually, his career evolved. He made his debut as a lead actor in the year 1959 with the film Goonj Uthi Shehnai. Later, he delivered a streak of hits like Dhool Ka Phool, Mere Mehboob, Sangam, and Aarzoo. His movies ran in theatres for 25 consecutive weeks, earning him the title 'Jubilee Kumar'. Why did Rajendra Kumar Sell His House, Dimple?
To celebrate this mammoth of success, he bought a beautiful bungalow and named it Dimple. This house showcased his dreams, but later, due to financial constraints, he had to sell his house. The person who bought the house was none other than the rising star, Rajesh Khanna. Rajesh renamed the house Aashirwad, and from that house began his journey to superstardom.
Rajendra was very attached to his house, and as per reports, he even cried the entire night after leaving it. Despite his glittering legacy and legendary films, the pain of parting with Dimple never faded.

750 Injections In 4 Years: 'Nayak' Villain Ranga's Real-Life Struggle After Kidney Failure

Ponnambalam's story is as heartbreaking as it is familiar in the world of cinema. A feared onscreen antagonist in the 90s and early 2000s, he shared screen space with big stars like Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Vijay, Ajith, Sarathkumar, Sathyaraj, and Vijayakanth. His towering presence and raw physicality made him a natural choice for menacing roles. Hindi audiences remember him as Ranga, the dreaded villain in 'Nayak', and for his role opposite Suniel Shetty in 'Rakshak'. (News18 Hindi) He started his film journey as a stuntman and was known for executing risky action scenes without a single injury. That earned him the nickname "Spare Parts" in the industry. He made his acting debut in 1988 with 'Kaliyugam' and later appeared in a string of Tamil hits like 'Apoorva Sagodharargal', 'Vetri Vizha', 'Micheal Madana Kama Rajan', and 'Mannava Kaval'. At his peak, he acted in ten films in a single year. (News18 Hindi) But fame and adrenaline were followed by a long downward spiral. Alcohol addiction took a brutal toll. Years of abuse led to kidney failure, and since 2021, the actor has been on dialysis. Dialysis is the cruelest punishment in the world, Ponnambalam said in a recent interview. "I've had 750 injections in four years, every alternate day at the same spot. I can't eat salt. I can't eat a full meal. Even my enemies shouldn't suffer like this," he said. (News18 Hindi) He has had to spend over Rs 35 lakh on treatment. "Sarath Kumar was the first to help. Then Dhanush and Arjun pitched in. Even Chiranjeevi helped me financially, despite a fight we once had on set. But many others in the industry didn't even ask how I was living," he said. (News18 Hindi) 7/7
