Elena Errichiello relishing chance to repeat U20 Six Nations success
And No. 8 Errichiello is expecting her side's opponents to be a tough test.
'We are so excited [to play France] but also, we feel a bit of pressure on us because we want to do well and better than last year,' she said.
'We won three of our three games, and we hope to do the same this year.'
Errichiello plays domestically for Unione Rugby Capitolina in Rome, having started playing the sport aged 10, and explained there's a good feeling around the camp ahead of their opening clash.
'We are so excited, because we trained a lot to get here,' she continued.
'Last year we did good things, and I hope we can build on those.
'In the time we have been together, we have created a good team and we are ready to go.'
Following on from the 2024 U20 Six Nations Women's Summer Series, 14 players across the six countries went on to achieve senior honours during the 2025 Guinness Women's Six Nations, including Italy's Alia Antonietta Bitonci, with Errichiello, despite not winning a cap, also being called up to the senior side during the 2024 WXV.
And Errichiello highlighted the importance of the tournament for giving players the opportunity to stand out and to use it as a springboard to break into the senior team.
'It's a great opportunity, with me, I went to train with the major team thanks to the Summer Series, so it's a really good chance for us,' she added.
'It is important for us because it is a good opportunity, and it is a step to get to the major team. It's a better level and we want to get there.'
With women's rugby on an upward trajectory, the Summer Series is a big chance for stars of the future to gain vital international experience, graduate along the development pathway, while also inspiring a new generation of rugby fans.
Spread across three dates during July, Italy will also face England on 11 July before rounding off their campaign against Wales six days later.
Julie Paterson, Chief of Rugby at Six Nations Rugby, added: 'The Women's Summer Series is an essential part of the strategy and commitment of Six Nations Rugby, and the six unions and federations, to proactively support the creation and growth of opportunities in the women's game.'

Grand National winning trainer takes up joint licence with champion jockey's son
Lucinda Russell, who has twice saddled the winner of the Aintree marathon, is formalising an alliance with Michael Scudamore, son of her partner Peter Scudamore Scotland's most successful jumps stable will have an additional name on the front door after Grand National-winning trainer Lucinda Russell announced a new training partnership. Russell is one of only a handful of active trainers to have won the Grand National twice, taking the prize with One For Arthur in 2017 and Corach Rambler in 2023. She has saddled over 1,000 winners since taking out her licence in 1995, also recording a big win in the 2021 Scottish Grand National with Mighty Thunder and clinched her fourth Cheltenham Festival success with Myretown in the Ultima Handicap Chase in March. Russell has achieved the top honours in tandem with her partner Peter Scudamore, the eight-time champion jumps jockey, and for the last two seasons Peter's son Michael has worked as assistant trainer. Michael Scudamore moved to Scotland after training on his own for 16 years during which he won the 2013 Welsh Grand National with Monbeg Dude, co-owned by former England rugby World Cup winner Mike Tindall, and enjoyed Cheltenham Festival success with Next Sensation in the 2015 Grand Annual Chase. "The long-term plan has always been for Michael and myself to become joint trainers and it represents an exciting development for the stable as we look forward to the 2025/26 jumps season,' said Russell. ''In his two years as assistant trainer Michael has been able to embed himself into his role within the team and fully acquaint himself with our training methods which utilise the outstanding natural resources of the Perthshire countryside. ''Apart from the names on the licence, nothing will change but the effects of having Michael on board in a leadership role are already evident. ''The size of our stable has increased by 20 per cent since he arrived in Scotland. We have built more stables and will have around 160 horses in training by the time the jumps season fully kicks into gear. ''Being able to share responsibility for the operational running of the stable has also allowed me to concentrate more time on arguably the most important part of training, sourcing new horses. That has seen the quality of horses we are able to train continue to improve thanks to the support of our owners.'' Michael said: ''I am really excited to be joining Lucinda as joint trainer. The Russell stable has been one of the most successful in the country over the last two years and this move reflects our ambitions to reach even greater heights. ''Any trainer will tell you that when you move into a new stable it takes time to get used to the gallops and the environment around you. ''The last two years have been a great learning experience. I now feel I am fully integrated into a very experienced team in which everyone knows their roles. We have had some great results and everyone is eager to further build on that success.''

Bruno Fernandes branded ‘proper captain' for his miserable trophy ‘celebration' after Man Utd win Prem Summer Series
BRUNO FERNANDES has been branded a "proper captain" after his miserable reaction to winning the Premier League Summer Series trophy. United drew 2-2 with Everton to remain unbeaten in pre-season and win the US tournament - which also featured West Ham and Bournemouth. 3 3 3 But after an underwhelming showing from United, skipper Fernandes looked less than thrilled after being presented with their trophy. The Portuguese playmaker, 29, collected the silverware, trudged over to his team-mates , gave them a little nod to come and join him and sulkily plonked the trophy on the "winners" hoarding, refusing to even lift it. But Man Utd fans loved the gloomy reaction, with one taking to X to write: "Huge fan of how Bruno has acted here. "Not even a fake trophy lift. Proper captain with a winning mentality." Other supporters reacted with "awkward" and "cold" emojis, reflecting the torn view for winning the pre-season trophy. Fernandes scored, laid on an assist and won Man of the Match for the second time in three games during the 2-2 draw. But the captain was frustrated having seen his side twice pegged back to throw away a winning position - calling his team-mates "lazy". After the game, Fernandes ranted: "Our performance wasn't the best off the ball… we were a little bit lazy. "We have to avoid that because the laziness you can pay at any moment. "It's improving. It's not where we want it to be." Fernandes then appeared to criticise club chiefs as he demanded they sign more talent to the under-performing squad. The United captain continued: "I don't want to have a dig at anyone, but obviously it was crystal clear we needed more competition for the players that were here. "We needed more quality to get everyone to step up a bit more, to have to do more to get into the starting XI. "I think that's what the club and the manager are trying to do, and hopefully we can get one or two players more to help with that." Fernandes insisted the club must never relax for a moment as they're so "global" - and that means getting the side back to the top of English football after an abysmal 2024-25 saw them finish 15th and trophyless. He said: "Every small detail matters. At this football club you can't do anything wrong on the pitch and off the pitch because it's too big worldwide and you get punished by that. "You get the attention of the media and your fans and you have to be aware of that. "At this club the culture here was winning and we need to bring that back. Not only the winning mentality that we need, and I think that's always been there, but obviously if you don't win you don't show it. "The club is trying to improve other things. The facilities have improved, we tried to improve the team, the staff, a lot of things. "A lot of people have suffered from this, a lot of people who had been working at the club for many many years had to go. "The fans are paying more for tickets, and we appreciate all the effort they put in for us, so now it's up to us to pay it back on the pitch."

United were leading 2-1 in the game, which was held in the United States. However, Everton levelled in the 75th minute following a somewhat unusual turn of events. Iliman Ndiaye did well to get past Bruno Fernandes, which led to a confrontation between the Everton player and the United captain. However, play continued, with Everton's Tyler Onyango finding Dwight McNeil. Amad Diallo came across to intercept the ball but it ended up deflecting off his own player in Heaven and went past goalkeeper Altay Bayindir. 📹🚨| Everton equalise through an unfortunate Ayden Heaven own goal #MUFC — UtdJoshua (@UtdJoshua03) August 3, 2025 Fernandes had given United the lead in the 19th minute, with Ndiaye equalising for Everton before half time.
