Oklahoma beats North Carolina to force winner-take-all game Monday The UNC baseball team faces a must-win game on Monday.
The North Carolina Tar Heels' baseball program will be playing for its season on Monday in Chapel Hill.
After entering Sunday's regional final with a 2-0 record, fresh off a big win over Oklahoma, the Tar Heels now face a do-or-die deciding game on Monday after falling to the Sooners 9-5 on Sunday night.
North Carolina fell behind in the bottom of the third when Oklahoma took a 1-0 lead. They did battle back to tie the game with a run in the top of the fourth, but the Sooners answered back with a run of their own. The Tar Heels then took the lead in the top of the fifth on a Gavin Gallaher two-out double that plated two runs and gave UNC the 3-2 advantage.
It was short lived, however.
A few walks and then an error allowed Oklahoma to score five runs in the bottom of the sixth and the Sooners didn't look back, grabbing the lead for good. The Sooners got a two-run home run, a double and a single to plate five in that inning, which was the backbreaker for the Tar Heels.
Although UNC answered back with two runs in the top of the seventh, the Sooners plated one run in the seventh and eighth innings. They also kept UNC scoreless in the eighth after the Tar Heels loaded the bases with no outs, threatening to tie or take the lead.
UNC's pitching struggled, walking nine batters as the Tar Heels used starter Aidan Haugh and five relievers throughout the game. Haugh gave up just the one earned run in 3.2 innings pitched.
The Tar Heels' lineup also struggled as the two through six hitters had just four hits with Gallaher having three of those hits.
The loss now forces the winner-take-all game on Monday in Chapel Hill with the winner punching their ticket to the super regional. Due to NCAA rules, Oklahoma will be designated as the home team.

Steelers' massive TE shows newfound work ethic at OTAs — motivated by contract extension

Steelers' massive TE shows newfound work ethic at OTAs — motivated by contract extension Steelers TE Darnell Washington has been putting in extra work this offseason — and he's ready for his Year 3 breakout. At Steelers OTAs on Tuesday, Washington was asked if he could make more of an impact in the Steelers' passing attack this season — and this was his response (courtesy of Steelers Live): "That's one of the reasons why I want to start becoming more of a pro — than I was previous years," Washington explained. "My first two years, I really wasn't taking care of my body. I wasn't like rolling out. I wasn't getting massages. I would just come in, do the work, leave. Now I'm like — kind of want to stick around the [Steelers training] facility. Do a little bit more with the quarterback after practice, or do some more recovery." Washington explained that he's dropped some weight since adopting this newfound mindset — and even described a new extension as motivation: "Just improve year by year because after your third year is your fourth year — then everybody want a new contract. That's how I want to attack it, and just be the best version of myself." Washington is one of the most underrated offensive weapons at the Steelers' disposal — and this new work ethic could do wonders in his third year in Pittsburgh. Texas A&M will host the No. 1-ranked 2026 prospect in Iowa this week

Texas A&M will host the No. 1-ranked 2026 prospect in Iowa this week Texas A&M's 2026 recruiting class is expected to continue growing this summer, heading into the 2025 season. As we've already witnessed under head coach Mike Elko, recruiting the entire country has not been an issue, with the team dominating the East and West Coasts, similar to former head coach Jimbo Fisher. This month, Texas A&M will host a wide range of elite 2026 prospects, which now includes four-star tight end Evan Jacobson out of Waukee, Iowa. Standing at 6'7" and 200 pounds, Jacobson is already an elite red zone target who thrives in the seam, possessing enough speed and twitch to outmaneuver smaller defenders. Playing in a run-heavy offense, which is very common in Iowa, Jacobson has been Waukee's most reliable receiving target throughout his starting career, thriving in the short game. At the same time, his size advantage has made him a sneaky deep threat. Like many tight end prospects, Jacobson will improve as a route runner once he enters a collegiate program. In Texas A&M OC Collin Klein's tight end-centric scheme, he could turn into one of the better SEC tight ends going into his second or third season. According to the man himself, Jacobson will head to College Station on Thursday, June 5, and spend the weekend with the Aggies for his first official visit. According to 247Sports, Evan Jacobson is currently positioned as the 175th-ranked prospect in the class, the 11th-ranked tight end, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in Iowa. Auburn football is trending for Jireh Edwards following weekend visit

Auburn football is trending for Jireh Edwards following weekend visit Auburn is working to build a strong pipeline with St. Frances in Baltimore, and Jireh Edwards could be the next brick. 5-star safety Jireh Edwards took an official visit to Auburn this weekend🦅 "It already feels like my second home. It feels like I've been here a long time." More from @JLeeAULive: — On3 Recruits (@On3Recruits) June 1, 2025 Five-star safety Jireh Edwards took his official visit to Auburn over the weekend. With the help of several current Tigers and one 2026 commit, Hugh Freeze's squad may have taken a giant step forward in signing the talented defensive back from Maryland. Edwards joined fellow St. Frances (Maryland) safety and 2026 Auburn pledge Wayne Henry on his official visit this weekend. Mixing Henry with current Tigers Durell Robinson, Blake Woodby, Darion Smith, and Bryce Deas, who played with Edwards at St. Frances, Auburn pieced together one strong recruiting pitch for him, and it apparently worked. "It already feels like my second home," Edwards said of Auburn in a recent interview with On3. "It feels like I've been here a long time." Edwards' positive visit is important as it increases Auburn's chances of earning his commitment, which he will announce on July 5. Ahead of last weekend, Auburn was in a six-team race with Alabama, Texas A&M, Oregon, Georgia, and Florida, and will continue to compete with those programs for his pledge until his commitment date. Edwards is the No. 3 safety from the 2026 recruiting class and ranks No. 3 in Maryland's rankings.
