She also rocked a dramatic side part in a millennial throwback.
Simpson previously opened up about how she "freaked out" when she turned 40.Jessica Simpson is celebrating her 45th birthday by staying positive—and showing off a new look. The singer, who turned 45 on July 10, shared a video on Instagram featuring footage from her music video for her song "Fade" from her upcoming album Nashville Canyon Part II. In the video, Simpson donned a corseted black leather minidress along with a very dramatic millennial side part. In another clip from the video, Simpson wore a leopard print fur coat as she sang sitting in a bathtub. "To start off my 45th year'round the sun, Imma gonna bright side the journey of life by choosin' to be the HAPPY part of my BIRTHDAY," she wrote in the caption.
Five years ago, Simpson opened up about her fears around turning 40. "I freaked out two months before I turned 40, not knowing that that age would even mean anything to me, but then it's like, oh but 41, 42," she said to SiriusXM. "I've never calculated my age until now." She added that she was, "accepting it slowly."
Earlier this year, Simpson and her husband of 10 years, Eric Johnson, announced their split. As she later told People, the break-up took her by surprise. "I got thrown a real twist of fate in the middle of making this record," she said. "My heart was completely broken. I had to continue to focus on the music." She added, "Thank God, I had Nashville."
The former couple share three children, Maxwell, 12, Ace, 11, and Birdie, 5.

Jessica Simpson Handled Her Wardrobe Malfunction on ‘The Today Show' Like a Champ
While most people might know Jessica Simpson from her successful shoe line or her infamously iconic 'Is this chicken, or is this fish?' question on her Y2K-era reality show with her ex-husband, Nick Lachey, let us remind you that she's somewhat of a pop culture icon thanks to her film and music career. This year, Jessica has been making her musical comeback with a slew of singles and a new EP, Nashville Canyon, Pt. 1, which means she's also made her way back to center stage. The multihyphenate made a rare appearance during the July 23 episode of The Today Show, where she performed fan-favorite tracks like 'With You' and 'I Think I'm in Love With You,' along with her latest single, 'Fade.' Of course, during one of her first TV gigs in nearly 15 years, Jessica faced an unfortunate wardrobe malfunction when her satin corseted gown slipped down to reveal a pink bra. The Dukes of Hazzard alum walked it off like a champ, though, as she seamlessly pulled her dress back in place mid-performance. After her performance, she even joked about the incident with the Today hosts, saying, 'Of course I had a malfunction here and everywhere, but it's okay. I think my boobs stayed in, so it's okay.' Her Today appearance comes after her American Idol season 23 finale performance, which marked her first TV performance after a nearly 15-year hiatus. She gushed about the 'insane' opportunity to return to her musical roots, and admitted that she was a little nervous to get back out there. 'Today it was like, 'Okay, get out of your head. Get out of your head. Who cares if your shoe falls off? Who cares if you forget a lyric?'' she explained. 'Honestly, it's just about being able to be up there and be vulnerable and that feels really beautiful.' She also sat down for an interview with Jenna Bush Hager, where she opened up about the emotions that making music brings out of her following her divorce from Eric Johnson. 'You can find blessings in the pain,' she explained. The 'Irresistible' hitmaker added, 'You can find beauty in the pain, and I think I want my daughters and my son to know that. No matter what we go through in life, nothing can take us long as we know who we are and we know our purpose. We're guided by that.' Fans Defend Jessica Simpson After TV Appearance Criticism
Fans are sharing their concerns for Jessica Simpson after seeing her on a recent talk show appearance. On Wednesday, Jessica stopped by Jenna & Friends on the Today Show to discuss her forthcoming album Nashville Canyon, Part 2 — her first studio album in 15 years. She also gave fans a tease of what they can expect while performing new songs like "Blame Me" and "Fade." Several clips from the interview were shared on the official Jenna & Friends social media accounts, with a few of them going viral for, unfortunately, all of the wrong reasons. In one video, the '90s/'00s pop star revealed the original sound for her album changed while going through her separation from her estranged husband Eric Johnson. The two called it quits after 10 years. They share three children together — two daughters, Maxwell "Maxi" Drew and Birdie Mae, and one son, Ace Knute. Jessica Simpson was tagged as a collaborator on the Jenna & Friends clips, which means the posts would also show up on Jessica's feed, and all of the comments would be shared as well. While opening up about it, people claimed they noticed Jessic "slurring" her words and sounding "like Jennifer Coolidge." And it didn't take long for people to go after her physical appearance, accusing her of getting "too much" work done to her face, and going "overboard" with filler and botox. And despite Jessica celebrating seven years sober on Nov. 1, 2024, some commentators accused the singer of being under the influence, which they believed was the cause of her acting "different" on the show. She has been very open about her sobriety journey and the work she's put in to get healthy: "There is so much stigma around the word alcoholism or the label of an alcoholic," Jessica wrote on Instagram in 2021 after celebrating four years clean. "The real work that needed to be done in my life was to actually accept failure, pain, brokenness, and self-sabotage. The drinking wasn't the issue. I was." So, I can only imagine how damaging it might be to see harsh conclusions and statements accusing her of substance abuse. Many fans felt the same way, and rushed to defend Jessica from the hate and negativity she was receiving: I appreciate the people who stood up for her because anyone going through a healing journey, no matter what it is, knows that it's a one-day-at-a-time battle, meaning it's something they're intentionally working on every day. And I'm sure it would be hurtful to look to the comments thinking you're going to see fans talking about everything you had to say about your new music, only to find out your appearance and speech are the main topic of discussion. Living in the public eye can't be easy, and she's been doing it since she was super young, so I wish people would learn to extend more grace to these individuals. Celebrity or not, she's still a human with feelings. At the end of the day, this is THE Jessica Simpson we're talking about — an icon of her time — so let's put some respect on her name! I truly find it odd when people go out of their way to make disgusting comments about people for the world to see. Unless you're talking about a serial killer or something, I don't see any reason why someone would want to share negativity as a way to make themselves feel better about themselves.
