Explained: Why Shah Rukh Khan's Arm Is in A Cast In His National Award Video

Last Updated: Shah Rukh Khan won the Best Actor award at the 71st National Film Awards. He thanked his team and fans on Instagram, where he was seen with his arm in a cast. On Friday evening, Shah Rukh Khan added another feather to his cap, being named joint winner of the Best Actor award at the 71st National Film Awards. While fans celebrated his big win, many were quick to notice the actor's right arm was in a cast in a video he posted on Instagram. The Jawan star appeared dressed in a black polo t-shirt, black trousers, and a grey beanie as he expressed his gratitude to fans, family, and the team behind Jawan, including director Atlee. Khan said, 'I would love to spread my arms and share my love, but I am a bit indisposed. But don't worry! Just keep the popcorn ready. I will be back in theatres and soon on the screen." He even managed to pull off his iconic arms-wide pose — this time, with just one arm extended. The actor also poked fun at his injury in the caption accompanying the post, writing, 'Overwhelmed with the love showered upon me. Half a hug to everyone today." The injury, it turns out, was sustained during the shoot of his upcoming film King, which is being directed by Siddharth Anand. According to a report in Hindustan Times, the incident occurred while Khan was filming an intense sequence at a studio in Mumbai a few weeks ago. A source close to the production revealed, 'He was shooting in Mumbai when he was injured. The exact details of the injury are being held under wraps at the moment. It is more of a muscular injury and nothing serious. That being said, it is not being taken lightly. Shah Rukh has travelled to the US for medical attention. He has been suggested to take a one-month rest." Due to the injury, the shoot schedule for King, initially planned for July and August, has been temporarily put on hold. The film marks a special collaboration, as it will see Shah Rukh sharing screen space for the first time with his daughter, Suhana Khan. At the awards, Khan shared the Best Actor title with Vikrant Massey, recognised for his performance in 12th Fail, which also won Best Film. Rani Mukerji took home the Best Actress honour for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. First Published: Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
