Deloitte-led consortium appointed as consultant for 7th phase of Dubai's MBR Solar Park
Phase 7 will integrate 1,600 megawatts (MW) of solar photovoltaic (PV) capacity with 1,000MW battery energy storage system (BESS) marking one of the world's largest solar-plus-storage projects under the independent power producer (IPP) model, DEWA said in a press statement.
The consortium will provide advisory services on regulatory compliance, IPP tender documents and design, tender submissions management, commercial negotiations, financial structuring, finalisation of power purchase agreements (PPAs) and financial closure. Additionally, Deloitte will spearhead a global investor outreach through marketing, targeted road shows, workshops and training on the IPP concept.
The seventh phase will be commisioned in phases between 2027 and 2029, the statement said, adding that it position DEWA to exceed its original 5,000MW target by 2030 for the solar park well ahead of schedule.

ACWA Power begins operations at 3 solar IPPs in Saudi Arabia
ACWA Power has commenced operations at three solar power plants with a total capacity of 2.79 gigawatts (GW) across Saudi Arabia, the company said in three statements to the Saudi stock exchange on Wednesday. The company received an initial commercial operation certificate for the 1,425-megawatt (MW) Al Kahfah solar Independent Power Plant (IPP) project in the Hail region. It also received an initial commercial operation certificate for 1,000 MW out of the total 2,000 MW capacity at the Ar Rass 2 solar plant in the Qassim region. In addition, ACWA Power received the second commercial operation certificate for the remaining capacity of 365.7 MW, bringing the SAAD 2 PV project in Riyadh to its full operating capacity of 1,125 MW. ACWA Power owns a 50.1 percent stake each in Al Kahfah, Ar Rass 2 and SAAD 2 solar projects. The impact of these projects is expected to be reflected in H2 2025 financials, the statement said. Kuwait to award Al-Shaqaya transformer station contract in Q4
Kuwait's Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy is expected to award the contract for the Al-Shaqaya (Z) Main Transformer Station and associated facilities in the fourth quarter of 2025, a source aware of the details. The contract covers the construction, supply, and installation of 11/132/400 kV main transformer station to support Kuwait's renewable energy programme.
